Bad Azz
The Assassin's Creed Series, would have worked so much better as a TV Series rather than a game. I say that because I didn'y get to really appreciate the movie that much but that's subjective to setting, writing and overall direction of the movie. Desmond's story turned into multi season TV series, that's what I am talking about! I think that what ruined the series narrative is the gameplay related fluff. In a video game, there is the basic story narrative, and there is the gameplay narrative as well. While the backstory of Desmond and the Assassins is awesome, most missions are designed and written in order to introduce and make use of gameplay mechanics and that limits the true development of any story. The whole Altair, Ezio and Desmond trinity-esque relationship and how it ties with secret societies, ancient civilizations, fate, and all that. The basic premise and narrative of the Desmond story is very esoteric. How the past, present and future all act as one... I could go on and on. I think most gamers either missed this stuff altogether due to lack of interest or did not pay attention because afterall, it's a game, and it should focus on gameplay. It should be fun. Remove the gameplay fluff, work on truly developping that story, and you've got a best selling novel and grammy winner TV series in my opinion. Now, to go back to the games, I'd rank my favorite Assassin's Creed games as: AC II - Best story, one my favorite game of all time hands down. No comments required. AC III - Second best story, love the new gameplay elements, love the frontier, love the towns, love the improved graphics. Desmond's closure could have been handled way better. It marks the end of an epoch for me. AC Black Flag - The start of a new age. The gameplay is awesome, the story is great. The writing and the voice actors are a step up from the other games. A good upgrade in terms of overall production quality for Ubisoft games. In that optic, serves as a benchmark for Unity and Syndicate. Gameplay wise, the modern day aspect is lackluster, but I like the narrative and Roberts character appearing both in the present and the past as well. AC Brotherhood - Continuation of the Desmond arc. Modern day plot advances and we get to retrieve an Eden Fragment and visit a long forgotten, underground sanctuary. That's so badass. Ezio restores the Brotherhood's strenght and presence in Italy. I would have ranked Brotherhood right under AC II if it wasn't for Rome and the countryside being one of the most bland map of the series, as well as the constant focus on the Borgias dragging for a bit too long in my opinion. AC Revelations - I really wanted to rank Revelations way higher as Ezio's closure and Altair's flashbacks are my most cherished memories of the franchise. I love the setting, Niccolo Polo's appearance and the whole ancient library thingy. However most of the missions after the intro and before the later stages of the game are kind of boring and after 2 years of AC II and Brotherhood I think the franchise needed a bit more than a quick reskin with some more explosive gameplay, though I can see how they wanted to keep drastic changes for a new protagonist. AC Unity - I was so excited about Unity. An Assassin's Creed game with next gen graphics!!! I was utterly disapointed with the narrative, though. Paris is a great city, and the gameplay is not bad, but I come from Ezio era, I expect a certain mystic and secretive aura to the plot, which Unity was truly lacking. By this point there is a definite disconnection with the original intent of the franchise. Marks the beginning of a lost of interest in the franchise. AC Origins - A complete reboot of the franchise. I bought due to the setting alone. I did mention Mysticism in my prior paragraph. Ancient Egypt, Mysticism, it kind of goes hand in hand, does it? I'll say one thing about Origins; Assassin's Creed lost its soul and identity on that day. Assassin's Creed always had a distinct, original feeling compared to the other Ubisoft games. But Origins... its nothing but a reskin of other Ubisoft products. Every single Ubisoft game is built according to the same formula, the same mechanics. Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Division, Assassin's Creed... It's all the same game. I enjoyed Origins until I got sick of the insane amount of boring side content that needs to be done in order to reach the required level to complete a story mission. Since I don't have many hours at hand to play daily, I completely lost track of who was who and all that. For those reasons I can't even comment on the story because I don't even remember much of it. It's like there was a full month of playing interval in between every principal ''quest'' I could do. It plays exactly according to the Ubisoft tune. Quantity over Quality. I am sure that the newer generation of gamers will love Origins and Odyssey. They are modern games following modern trends. And they are packed with content. Most gamers nowadays seem to game out of boredom. In that optic, these game are built for the bored player to mindlessly kill time. But they are not the interactive, immersive historic and mystic experiences keeping you on the edge of your seat that the older games were. From there on, they lost me. But I can't act entitled and say that it's Ubisoft's fault. It is my personal, subjective preferences that are not being cattered to, but I recognize the modern potential of the series with its new approach. Its just not for me. Dryspace
I noticed this when I first played Assassin's Creed II at the end of 2016, and have had this screenshot sitting around ever since. Because I was unable to find anything about it online at the time, I choose to believe I'm the only person in the universe who noticed the error. 🙃 Spoiler Edited March 15, 2020 by Dryspace Clarification; Spoiler Tag Added TheSantader25

Shadowfennekin
It'd be cool if they add the other Legacy outfits Or at least add something Jacob related since they have Evie but no Jacob.... pisses me off as Jacob's the cooler of the pair. And it'd be cool to have FOUR Assassin lieutenants instead of three, since you can have four at a time Edited March 14, 2020 by Shadowfennekin

dante財閥
If you guys had a choice between the upcoming Assassin's Creed Ragnorak (TBC) in a similar style to Odyssey or a hard reboot of the original Assassin's Creed with refined and improved mechanics in the style of Syndicate/Unity, which would you guys go for? Remake / reimagining of AC1 with Unity level mechanics and graphics. Unity was unfortunately bogged down by a messy release, stuffed to the brim with bugs and glitches and a narrative that felt half-baked. But if there's one thing it got right, it was its ability to evolve the signature elements that constitute Assassin's Creed's core identity. It's the closest thing we even have today to a true next-gen AC experience that works as a love letter to fans of the 2007 original. Instead of Ragnarok, I'd wish they'd go back to the Mediterrean and finish up Aya's trilogy or whatever. That Roman game sounded really interesting. After that, go back to the Unity formula, which (bugs aside) worked so well and Unity itself was a great great game. a Hideo Kojima post.

I would prefer the latter option, because a game or series should never be fundamentally transformed and effectively killed off simply in order to make as much money as possible. If we are talking about needing to make enough money to stay afloat, well then there's at least a valid case for argument. But just in order to make more money when there's a large market by any standard, and more than enough profit to be made? There's no defense. A person who employs artisans to craft the finest shoes possible, and actually cares about fine footwear, would never switch from shoes to designer handbags--for no other reason than he believes he can make more money that way, when he's already seeing profit margins most businesses only dream about. On the contrary, one who sees shoes as merely one possible means of getting rich may well do that. Edited March 17, 2020 by Dryspace
Mokrie Dela
It would take something REALLY special to get me to care about ac again. I haven't even played the ones I deem as good for a while. Unity after I got back from paris in 2018 but that's it. Ubisoft killed it completely imo. Ragnorak or Odyssey 2.0 or whatever. Meh. Ducard 1 The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. I think the current format with a wider variety of missions and a combat style maybe a little closer to Unity/Syndicate would be ideal for me. Jason
Yea Ubi are probably the most... prolific? at doing things like free weekends, huge discounts and even game giveaways to promote upcoming sequels out of all major publishers. Jason
That's Bosslogic making it, a known freelance promoartist/mockup/whatever, does a lot of fan made posters for films. Been so prolific in recent years to the point where he now gets hired by these studios to make promo art for them. Basically, it's a very Ubisoft reveal lol. They can never just drop a trailer it seems.
