I kinda wish it wouldn't even have the Red Dead moniker, and if it does, at least not with a RE-something.

It could easily be called Wild West Legends, Dust to Dust, or The Horse With No Name (wouldn't that be cool?).

And even if Red Dead stays... Give it some other name. Red Dead: The Boy's Chronicles (The Boy being the nickname of the main character). Last Red Dead Standing :p or whatevs. I don't know anything about the wild west to suggest relevant good names. It depends on the contents of the game anyway.

There has been way too many games with RE-in the titles in the past decade.

Also imagine the confusion in abbreviations if it's called RE-something again. What are we gonna call it in text, RDR3? RDR2? Or just RDR, and the previous ones pre-RDR and granpa RDR? What about new people who have never played RDR or RDR or don't even know RDR exists?

"Oh I thought you're talking about RDR, but I meant RDR. No, the other RDR." See? :D

So I guess this thread is kind of not needed now, right?

Yes it's still needed so we can see all the glorious names it could've had instead of the anti climax that is "RDR2"

Seriously, they are actually calling it RDR2?

I'm trying to not pre-judge the game, but damn, talk about lack of creativity in the industry.

I guess this is the New era Rockstar. I f*cking hate it. And to be honest, I really excited whats in store, but really that is f*cking lazy. I really hope this person or persons get fired for such a lousy name for an amazing f*cking franchise of games.

Im okay with a name that has to dues with the gang. Not lazy RDR2 WTF is that? UGH.... Its f*cking bittersweet. Im sure R* can change it. They have done it before.

I find it extremely funny how upset so many are with the name.

I voted Red Dead Redemption 2 BTW. :^: You are naive if you think R* wouldn't build on the name recognition and success of RDR.

Then you don't understand R*. R* alone sells, it doesn't need rehashed names to sell. The product sells itself.

Then why doesn't each Grand Theft Auto game have a unique name?

How else are casuals gonna know that this is another red dead redemption game? Oh yeah! Put redemption in the title again.

Everybody wouldve been perplexed by something like red dead rebellion because they're idiots

It should be called "Red Dead Revolution", "Red Dead Renegade" or "Red Dead Rebellion" when the game is apparently a prequel to Red Dead Redemption and the player will play as Marston when he was a member of the Dutch gang...

"Red Dead Redemption 2" is such a boring name. Stupid R*.

HEY Jackass, The featured name is only relevant. IN this case hence RED DEAD. THAT ALONE suggests its a R* title. THAT sells itself because comsumers like causals know its by Rockstar. Now the addition of another title is makes the difference. Adding the same wording like Redemption suggests is going to be the same game just in sequel hence 2. If you use your f*cking common sense that you probably don't use. With the implementation of 2, peanut head it means that 2 is after 1. Thus, people will think its a sequel. Which in fact this is actually a prequel. 1911 the WEST HAS DIED by 1912 into WWI. I can guarantee you that this will be earlier.

Yeah, Red Dead Renagade(s) makes sense since Dutch's Gang members are actually renagades, also considering that Edgar Ross said to John Marston: "Ah yes, another group of renegades. Obviously the first group. Your group has shall we say, been disbanded".

I personally like the name Red Dead Redemption 2, but I think that a subtitle would have been cool.

Reads previous posts:

1. Read Dead Rampage

Because that sounds exactly like what Dutch's gang was doing before Redemption

2. Read Dead Renegades (plural)

Because thats obviously what they were

3. Read Dead Rebels

Just behind Renegades, and only because Revolver and Redemption are long words that came after the 2 four letter words, it just fits better with the previous titles to use the longer Renegades in a synonym battle between Rebels.
