ATTN: MODS V CODING NEEDS TO BE DIVIDED INTO NEW SUBFORUMS

Recommended Posts

c39687

Coding is too broad, there are 3 ways to code for GTA and should be seperated. I see mostly people here use shdnv but there is also RPH used by many and of course scripthook.

Change Coding to..

ScripthookV Coding

ScripthookDotNetV Coding

RagePluginHook Coding

All 3 use their own libraries and the coding is different

Not the place for this (Edit: sorry if I sounded mean. Maybe a better place to ask this is in Site Suggestions?). Also, there is the LUA plugin.

Then tell the reason why this can't be separated into subforums ?

All the best,

Paul

For GTA V, the coding between hooks and languages differs slightly. If you know what you're doing you can easily convert code. I've found plenty C# examples that have worked just fine for C++. You don't get to copypasta everything, but then, you shouldn't really be doing that anyway. Separating things would only make it more difficult to find answers in an already slow subforum.

The only issues you might run into is when you find a RPH example that uses a function or property that accesses memory directly. RPH, being closed-source means that you wont be able to find out what memory it accesses for that function or property. This isn't an issue with ScripthookV.net since it's open-source, but good luck trying to convince MulleDK19 to open the RPH source. lol.

I do actually agree with your sentiment on LUA

Sorry I must have said that wrong. I mean this post/request doesn't belong in a sub-forum for help with coding. A better place might be Site Suggestions? I do agree that it might be better if there are seperate sub-forums for the different languages/libraries.

it's for people who want to work efficiently and when necessary, handle memory, it basically is a do it all language... and c++ keeps coming out with .net emulated objects cause smart programmers wrap sh*t

Yup, I am a primitive animal indeed. lol

So primitive that I was already coding in C(++) for at least 10 years when Lua was born. Back then I lived in Rio and worked on a few projects for the Catholic University there..

Wait... isn't it the birthplace of Lua? Cool coincidence huh? shhhh.

I used to be a 1337 h4x0r back then, now I am just too old for this wrapping sh*t.

lol. Peace out.

PS.: Check this one out, if you haven't already.. it is pretty cool: https://github.com/MockbaTheBorg/GTALua

Most of the games today use C++ and some integrate Lua for writing game logic and coding artificial intelligence, your point is just that every language but yours is bad.

Agreed with the section division between these, though.

Being demeaning to others isn't going to aid your cause, pal.

For what it's worth, RPH could get its own subsection at most. DotNet scripts can be converted to an asi so...

Its not exactly a straight forward conversion from .net to asi due to how much of the code for .net is wrapped into classes

Nice thing is, if you want to know what's wrapped in those classes, you can just go check out shdn source code. Not straight-forward, but not difficult at all.

until a mod uses something like euphoria, or one of the other new features in v3 that uses a lot of memory editing, then its much more of a pain.

Not sure what you're trying to say. I just viewed the euphoria code. I did notice that the latest version on GitHub isn't up to v3 yet, so maybe you mean the v3 source isn't as easily found? Maybe you're saying its a pain because it's a lot of code? I'd say at least there's code to view. It's all right there and can be converted with a little know-how. If one does not know how, they can learn. They are on the internet, after all. Not straight-forward (read: you're going to have to learn a few things), but not difficult.

was just saying about the fact is a lot of code. Not like the functions that just straight up invoke a native. The v3 version source code is on github btw, its the default branch (dev_v3), but a release isn't ready yet though. A library could be made actually to let people use euphoria like in shvdn but without actually being shvdn

That's a good idea. A library for euphoria and mem access things for SHV/ASI/C++ would be nice.

u want to separate them. .no problem but rph does have their own forum for discussion which is very annoying as I rarely see any reply there. . .this coding forum was mainly based on scripthookv development. . . .in my opinion i don't like coding with rph but though as their forum is too annoying there's no problem in subforum for rph :p
