Do you use noise effect in GTA TLAD if you don't know it is what causes the grainy look in the game

Play with it off. If I wanted to play Silent Hill I'd...well you know, play Silent Hill

By the time I realised it was an option I'd already been playing with it on for years, so it doesn't feel right without it now.

I play with it on. I make the most of all the unique features in the game

I didn't mind the effect. However, I preferred it to remain switched off.

I prefer to have it off. It makes me eyes hurt after about 30 minutes, its still nice to have for people who like it.

I play with it off usually, but it really fits Alderney well. If I was to replay it I'd probably turn it on for nostalgia purposes. When it gets gray and rainy it's a good time to have it on, looks badass.

I'm actually starting to get used to it. But it feels weird with it on when I'm not in Alderney as leone said. It looks grainy as f*ck with the saturation turned down.

I've always used the noise effect. Reminds me of Manhunt and it fits the gritty tone of TLAD. I also like playing it with the coffee looking, brown/yellow colour palette too.

When I replayed TLAD recently, I tried it on and off and saw barely any difference on PS3, probably due to the low resolution (although I play on a PC monitor, not a TV). Tho when I played with it off, I did start to miss even the subtle difference eventually, so turned it back on. I appreciate how each of the 3 GTA IV chapters have a different look.

I don't remember whether I used it on the PC version.

As a side note, I generally do like grain filters in games that support it. I really enjoyed it in Mass Effect 1 and and 2 and was seriously pissed when it was removed in 3 (I played the games in a row and it was a massive difference after 60 hours). I was looking if there isn't some soft of a universal shader that would enable it in all games - similarly how one can force AA, AF etc., sadly I didn't find any.

I actually turn the noise effect off on both Manhunt and TLAD because it hurts my eyes. And makes seeing enemies more annoying IMO.

I play it off. tLaD looks awful when you're out of Alderney or Bohan. Algonquin, Dukes and Broker look bad and the noise effects make em badder.

Well they weren't sure indeed if the effect would make it into the release, but instead they left the option to turn it off :)

I don't hate the effect though, it's pretty fine.

I didn't like it. I did a whole playthrough thinking there was something wrong with my copy before I discovered it was an effect I could have just turned off. I don't like filters in general.

Hell no. Screw that sh*t. I made a topic about this, because I thought my game had a graphical issue until a couple forums members told me that it was the Noise Effect. Luckily I only just started my first-time play through.

Yes, but also with AMD's Morphological Filter(aka MLAA), somehow it fixed the painful grain when you came to those dark places, but still keep the badass lookin', it really makes the game feels like those old action film

I play with the setting on, but it's bugged and doesn't work so it's actually off
