You'll have to pay more than you did for a top 20 slot, I'll tell you that much.

Judges: Don't worry. While she is heading off into the sunset after the first round, Felony made sure to mention she is only heading to your office to drop off some nice gift baskets. She wants to thank you for all the time, effort and work you have put into this.

Good luck to those who remain.

Well, I never. Hmmph. Don't mistake me for another one of these sausage-wielding fools!

I'm j/k. About anyone being a fool, that is. But I am serious about being a woman in real life. Once I even had a baby surgically extracted from my womb!

Anyways, not that it matters who is female irl and who isn't. I'm mostly just here to say I'm honored to have made it to Top 20! There are a lot of great-looking characters in this thread (over 100, am I correct?) so I have no doubt it was very difficult for the judges to narrow it down to just 20. I put a lot of time and thought into designing my character so I'm proud that she made it this far.

Okay, so when is Mr. Los Santos? Hugo is ready!

The views of my character is not intended to offend other characters.

My character doesn't believe in the corruption of Sue Murry and is not with her.

The Second Stage thread has been created:

Edit: I will try to have it stickied in replacement of the current thread in the next 24 hours.

Ah! Stickied already! Thanks, Dagger. I think it was you. ;)

So I decided to do the smart thing and wait a couple of days after the results to make a post. Kneejerk

reactions aren't always the best. Of course not making it to the second round had me wondering why the

judges didn't think my girl was as good looking as some of the others that made it through. But

given some time, a cooler head, and a bit of laughter reading some of the posts of others who felt the same,

I come to some basic conclusions.

1) Yes beauty is in the eye of the beholder

2) If you like your character and think he/she is good looking,

then that's all that matters (possible life lesson in there)

3 It's a video game, don't like it, don't play, or.....

make adjustments, create a new character, do more

with this one, take new picts or make new videos,

change up your styles

For me, I've been working with this one for a few months, I'm happy with the way she looks, and I really don't want

to create a new one just in an attempt to "get votes" from an online community, much less climbing those levels for a

third time.

It has however given me a great boost in creativity in looking at all the other entrants submissions. There are

a lot of very talented people here, I'm impressed with what everyone has done and I'm looking forward to the next

rounds. I also really am excited to play around with the editor and experimenting. To be honest, I hadn't even touched

the editor yet.

For all those that made it, Congratulations!

And for the judges, thanks for setting this up, going through

all the entries, and dealing with the inevitable backlash.

(For the TLDR crowd: its a game, congrats and thank you)

@livejoker I see you're very intelligent, too bad you don't know that you don't have to register to read the forum. Sad world.

[...] I'm far from smart. You do have to sign to the forum to post which is what you did. [...] If that ain't you then you'll clearly not be upset that I'm mentioning all of this, correct?

After I decided not to compete, I was just reading/checking out new entries. Didn't wanted to post anything, but a part of the results shocked me a bit and then I decided to support some people I agreed with.

And I'm not upset.

Now, real talk, I know Miss LS is just beginning but I'm honestly curious as to how set up a Mister Los Santos. No, seriously, hear me out. I'd be hosting it seeing I do love boys arranging things, which would exclude The Cougar from the Mister LS comp. Naturally, as she's 100% 85% 60% female. What I'm curious is how to find proper judges, how to arrange and legitimize awarding a medal to the grand winner and other little things. How does Miss LS go about discussing things? Group PM? Who should I contact staff-wise for all of this? Now I'm not saying I'm gonna do it...just in case I grow some testes and go forth with it.

Looking forward to it. And about the legitimacy problem - my opinion stays the same: videos, stream - should help.

It's great that you're up for being the host of Mr LS, there's nobody on here that would do a better job. Maybe start a thread about it and see what people want to do about structure and judging, if there is even a need for judges that is. Something that's supposed to be fun should serve the people voting, not self appointed judges. But anyway, that's something to discuss in a public thread.

Personally I think people should put the Mr Los Santos talk on the backburner for a bit. We're only in the early stages of Miss Los Santos so let the ladies take up all the limelight right now. It's a yearly contest so talking about other contests at the same time kinda takes away from the big event that X S, the judges and the entrants have put so much work into creating.

I'm sure X S wouldn't mind giving some organisation pointers to whomever takes the reigns on it once all this is over, and on behalf of staff we're always happy to apply forum medals and create group PMs for any kind of well-organised or successful community events :^:

I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing it as long as there's no movement with it until the current contest is finished. No danger to any limelight. No rush either.

As for asking XS for advice, well maybe but I suspect not everyone agrees with the way things are done on that thread.

It's just my opinion from reading the thread, not a ruling. All I mean is it seems a little hasty for people to be excited over other contests when this thread is all about the ladies and there isn't even a winner yet.

As for people disagreeing, no one will ever be happy and that's OK, but no one can deny X S has done well to get this thing off the ground a couple of years on the trot in the first place though! Mr Los Santos would be completely seperate (I assume) so whoever organises that would be free to decide their own regulations instead and don't need to make comparisons to the format here.

I know it's just your opinion. I think if there was a Mr LS it would be done quite differently, probably according to what the voters want not the people who started the thread. Seems like a better way of doing things to me.

I agree with you that there's no rush and it's best to wait for the existing contest to finish before starting anything else. I don't see why that means some discussions can't take place though. If someone is so distracted by the existence of a Mr LS discussion thread that they lose all interest in Miss LS then you'd have to question how much they cared in the first place.

Just a heads up, but I've probably had about 10 people contact me about either creating a Mr LS or some other Miss "Something" over the past 2 years. I have given my blessings and encouraged many to follow through on their ideas. Some, however, were just making an attempt to upstage the current event, whether that be out out of spite, or simply because they were in disagreement with the logistics. Regardless, either no one followed through, or no one was able to gather enough interest. Even when I was encouraged to create a Mr. LS, I decided against it because I did not want to have a monopoly on the Mr/Miss LS concept. I always felt that a friendly competition was needed, because it would provide both contests the opportunity to bounce ideas off each other, learning what works best for both.

My advice? You have to follow through, premeditate every scenario, and stand firm in your commitment. In the end, everyone isn't going to agree with the way you do things, no matter how hard you try. You have to be willing to accept that, and be willing to execute your plan in spite of the all obstacles that may be in your way.

Just a heads up: Someone messaged me about Mr LS earlier this week. I gave my support and advice. Whether or not he follows through, we have yet to see.

Damn, I didn't want to start a war over this (and I want to clarify I'm not the one that messaged X S about making a Mister LS - no one get any ideas). I can feel some tension coming from Nacho and it's not what I wanted. I was simply asking for pointers and such.

I agree with Kirsty (and I even said that this is way too early to even discuss this) that Miss LS is and always will be the number one event. We love girls, guys love girls, girls love girls, it's a winning combination. I doubt there's gonna be many who will drool over a few shirtless guys with tattoos compared to those in the Miss LS thread. I do want to make it clear I was simply asking so for the future, if I decide to not be lazy and want to tackle a project, I can have the proper tools and know-how to do such things. Obviously, the best way to do so is doing a public thread and gauge the responses as well as take applications for judges (which I'll revert to my car meet history when finding trolls; of checking each applicants prior posts/posting habits to ensure they're a good pick). I don't think I'd be the best person for the job but I do believe I'm one of the few that's committed enough to actually go through with it. I'm not one to half-ass things, though I've said many times here that I am lazy and that I'll most likely not host Mister LS....yet. And no, I do not want to host a Mister LS out of spite but rather out of the duty of woman having the right to objectify men and the fact The Cougar needs a new boy toy.

Thanks for the advice, X S! I'll definitely take those into account. I do know that even if I appease those currently disliking the Miss LS comp, I'll displease another demographic. You just can't please everyone...and I'm fine with that. I'll gladly let my forum reputation take a hit just for the fact that I stand behind what I say and decide. As of now I'll keep an eye on the Miss LS and take some notes. Right off the bat there definitely won't be a point system like Miss LS which, if proven popular, will put me out by a big chunk as I've never been good with point systems. Anyway, let's put Mister LS back in the box and concentrate on Miss LS and then we can dust it off and see what can be done - if anyone is actually interested to warrant a male variant.

Well, I don't think two lines of writing are grounds to condemn a person's entire character, but to each their own.

While he might have been a little ... Brusque? I think that reflects more on a lack of trust in the MLS competition, as well as its judges. Of course, it's just my opinion, but I personally think this could've been alleviated if there was a little less writing off of people's points (for example, one of the judges apparently having been caught up to strange business in "the car showdowns"), and a little more debate. By debate I don't mean just petty squabbling or name-calling, but simply talking to people - explaining things and taking away people's suspicions.

It's your game anyway, do with it as you please. If the likes of myself, Nacho Z, and others think improvements could be made, then as I'm sure someone will tell me, the door's that way.

Thing is, though, that the thing people are now declaring 'shenanigans' over this year regarding the judging panel or the updated proceedings, are ...things added for this years contest directly in response to feedback, criticism and whatnot last year, and the year before. Last year, people complained that the public vote meant that people could abuse the system (by creating alt accounts, for example), so this year, the public vote is weighed against the judges' opinion to offset that ...and so instead, people are complaining that it's not a purely public vote. Seems like with all of this, there's no way to have things without someone finding fault with something, no matter how much XS and people respond to feedback and bend over backwards to appease everyone.

And on a similar note, why is it that every year, the complaints about 'judges being biased/unsuitable' or 'issues with the contest criteria', or whatever, only ever happen after the results get declared? Surely if anyone objects to one of the panel, or wants to bring up a problem they see with the way things work, the best time is during the contest (preferably with enough time to get things taken on board and changes made soon enough for people to amend their entries accordingly), right? To do so in the earlier stages make sense (to me, at least) as the best way to do so productively and for the good of the competition - doing so after the dust's settled and the Top 20 have been picked does come across like disingenuously trying to throw a spanner into the works.

I was a bit rude and I apologise for that. It's things like the judges being referred to as "aristocracy" that rub me up the wrong way, I think that analogy shows somebody's true character also.

judges being referred to as "aristocracy" that rub me up the wrong way, I think that analogy shows somebody's true character also.

Without turning this discussion into civics debate, the concept of an 'aristocracy' was originally developed by the Ancient Greeks. It was essentially a council of leading citizens meant to work alongside and in contrast with the rule of direct democracy, and many aristocracies still exist today, such as in the US or UK. The problem is that it's often associated with the French Revolution and the overthrow of the aristocracy, and therefore used a pejorative to describe such political classes. An upper chamber of government is probably a better descriptor of what I was considering.

Also, when you take into account what CommanderS mentioned,

Thing is, though, that the thing people are now declaring 'shenanigans' over this year regarding the judging panel or the updated proceedings, are ...things added for this years contest directly in response to feedback, criticism and whatnot last year, and the year before. ...You can get a sense as to why I made those changes.
