To be fair, that GTAF Census that happened a few months ago did say that there was less than 10% members that were female. Wasn't it around 5%? I forgot.

I would guess the number of females who play GTA to be much higher than that. The 4% is only GTAF users that answered that poll. It doesn't include female GTAF users that didn't see or vote in the poll, don't want to be known as a female on GTAF and it probably includes males who answered as a female. I'm not saying the poll data is meaningless but it is suspect.

I'm hoping to see some 'themes' specified in the next stages like last year's contest - then we'll see who can be really creative.

Neither. Malice means with evil intent. I'm not saying ppl were excluded out of ill will. I'm saying your point system wasnt fair. Not everyone is good at image editing and making videos and some dont have the time. This gives a clear advantage to those who do therefore shouldnt have factored in the points since only some ppl would be getting these points.

 

I'm not sure you understand. If a judge was giving priority to a submission based on editing skills, then they'd be breaking the rules and jeopardizing the integrity of the contest.

Also I think Bio, Video, Edited Images should count as a bonus. If you get points for one you won't get points for another. Making all of them would give just the advantage, that for example one jury would give points for the bio and another for a video.

Either YOU dont understand my point or are just in denial to the truth to save the "integrity of the contest". I'm leaning towards denial since you're dodging my initial arguement. I'm not "implying" anything nor am I focused on "editing skills". I literally said what I think straight out. You're giving ppl 10% for the "quality" of snaps and another 10% for making a video. Photoshop clearly helps with the quality of the pics and not everyone can or has time to make a video. This means only some ppl will get these extra points resulting in an unfair advantage.

 

I mean if me and another entry were tied but they used photoshop and I didnt or they made a video and I didn't they will edge me out and thats exactly what happened. Not bcuz their character is better (which is what the contest is suppose to gage) but simply bcuz they got an extra 10% for upping the quality of their pics or making a video. Not sure how this is considered fair but ok.

What's even the point of entering the contest if you'll cry foul play if you don't get past the first round? You've automatically decided you should win and that apparently the judge's votes don't matter, so just...sit in your chair and feel proud that you won on your own technicality or something, your opinion is the only one that matters anyway right

I mean, c'mon - if there really was a whole lotta favouritism going on, you'd expect for one of the co-runners of the crew hosting this event to get through easily, particularly since said contestant is also on good terms with most of the judges AND XS...

 

...and yet here I am, not making the cut. If nothing else, I'm glad for my entry to serve as some measure of proof that the judges aren't playing favourites with forum members!

More like 'most of them are regulars in the various Snapmatic threads' - but that's kinda to be expected. People who spend most of their time in GTAO and on the forums (and elsewhere) messing around with character creation and photography did well in a contest all about custom characters. Bit like how the folks in dedicated GTAO racing crews tend to ...do well in races.

(like the guy from Nonchalant Dominance - Broughy1322's racing crew - who, unsurprisingly, thrashed me in a Premium Race yesterday. In other news, water is wet... )

Also, another concern is the legitimacy of these characters. I wonder what rank these female characters are because my female characters is over ranked over 100. I actually play with this character so I try to make her as as attractive as possible for this contest. I make good of what I have. Like someone mentioned, we had a influx of new members just for this contest.

 

I was guilty of even thinking about doing this...which is to make a super attractive female character from scratch just for this contest. I even messaged a famous YTer who makes characters, to make me a character for this contest but I thought that would be lame.

 

Perhaps next year, the entrants must show character rank. High level rank should get bonus points. This will show the judges the legitimacy of the character versus someone slapping together one and entering it for the sake of entering it.

 

I'm basically saying I play with her ugly ass and I'm trying to make her look the best from what she was born with, or my lack of creativity when it concerns character creation...LOL

 

I'm still happy I entered and not make the top20 with my own character versus making it with a character I created specifically for this contest.

Pick one.

 

Quality of snaps is under the Creativity category which accounts for 25%, only a quarter of the judging. In a sense, these were "bonus" points because none of it was required. There's absolutely no litmus test to the quality of a snap other than "take 5 snaps", so it would be impossible require "quality" snaps only. That's an incredibly arbitrary requirement. Much of the quality that was considered was solely at the discretion of the judges, and I can assure you that they are more than qualified to make those judgements.

 

Further, this wasn't some make-or-break category. The majority of the folks who placed in the Top 20 were consistently voted highly amongst a majority of the judges. It's when you have a smaller pool of contestants that lesser weighted criteria (10%) becomes an issue to the point where it's completely arbitrary, which is not the case with 100+ contestants.

 

You understood the rules going in, just like everyone else, so please don't wait until after the results to voice your concerns.

Remember that there was 110 entries and there was 20 spaces for the next round, it was a 1 in 5.5 chance in getting a space. Just be happy for those who got through hun's.

Not quite. Alexa may be your 'secondary' character, but you still present her to the forum regularly and have done so for as long as I can remember. She certainly wasn't "slapped together for the sake of entering" as suggested.

For the people wanting advice on future contests.....

No anglo women. Past winners have shown to be non-anglo.

The last 5 winners of Miss Universe have come from Asian and Latin America countries. With the exception of USA and Angola. Still Miss USA isn't of anglo descent.

Basically no white women Barbie types.
