To be fair, the character creator in the enhanced version of the game is still quite limited with regards to customization options. Do keep in mind that this competition values style, creativity, and personality as well.

Her Story: Born to a meth whore - father unknown - in the trailer town of Luntville, Oklahoma, Kandice Marie Foxx was orphaned by the age of seven and raised, for want of a better word, by her then current step father "Propostition" Joe Cauldhill a man who shall we say had a rather "hands on" approach to parenting. Kandi split from Luntville when she was fifteen heading west, eventually ending up in Los Santos. A brief stint working at the Vanilla Unicorn didn't end well as Kandis' girl next door look proved so popular among the clientele the other girls jealousy led to violence & dismissal for Kandi.

Joining up with The Families Kandi proved herself an efficient & brutal cold hearted killer. Working her way up from small time drug deals to robbing the Pacific Standard Bank, Kandi has invested her ill gotten gains in a “legit” business becoming CEO of Dunder Mifflin and opening the companies first West Coast Office.

It was her Secretary at DM, Erin, who suggested Kandi enter Miss LS 2016, so here are her picture and video submissions.

its not limited.

 

You have options to fine tune cheekbones/chins/noses/foreheads/brows/jawline etc..

 

so no..

 

maybe its limited if people chose to not work and harder on their character other than choosing the parents and the skin color..

 

and that seems to be the case with most peoples characters.

While I agree it's not nearly as in-depth as say Mass Effect, Fallout, Dragon Age: Inq or whatever the current WWE game is, you can do more than a lot of games let you in terms of sliders and such.

 

For instance here's my old gen and subsequent transfer after the character creation menu.

Character Creation screens are something I love, so spend a lot of time on, i was going through every detail and slider multiple times for a good few hours. I also know what i like my female characters to often look like, so I knew early on what i was aiming for.

On PS4, the cheekbones are much sharper, the lips are plumper, the chin is smaller, the nose is smaller and way more curved, and the general proportions are all different.

 

But not everyone is as in depth as this when it comes to it, some people just want to play the game and not spend hours creating a character, but you can definitely personalise your character to a pretty good point, despite its limits.

I think the issue with the creator is how little variation there is, even with sliders for facial features. Everyone has the same body, all characters have the same look overall. If you photoshop a bunch of online characters from multiple video games, you'll easily spot those that are from GTA:O. There's no real variation to what the game offers, especially for people who haven't found their online "personality". Without an online "personality", you're just a generic clone even if you got high cheekbones and a cute nose. If there is such a thing then I'd like to say it's how GTA has its "style" like Borderlands does. You just know it's a GTA character.

Not really understanding how people can say that the characters presented here look the same - there's a bunch of amazing creations floating around. By the way, no one really responded to my call earlier. I asked who owned the character that was named "something Park". Looks Asian. Totally forgot the page. That's a really good one if you want variation. I think most people either go for their dream girl/guy, do a badass girl/guy (typically biker) or just whatever they would look like if they were in GTA:O. I can guarantee you that people who make "clown" characters (weird eyes, f*cked up skin, you know, just stuff for giggles) get tired of it after a while. Trust me...

Still, to each their own. It is possible to make two characters so why not make a female and enter her? It's the best way to combat similar faces.

Diana and Peppers echo my stance. I get whatever "limitations" there are. But when I transferred from PS3 to PS4 I was amazed at how detailed I could make my character, and took advantage of it. I just feel like most people don't take advantage of it. Granted there are very notable exceptions in this thread. Smiley_Beat for example really took the time to make their character unique (livejoker too;)). Meanwhile, everyone has seemed to stick with their defaults, give or take a slight slider adjustment, which waters down uniqueness, in my opinion.

I've yet to see a character identical to mine. (Both of them for that matter). I've seen similar, but not identical. I tried about 7 attempts to make a decent female character on PS3. after transferring, I was able to actually achieve what I was kinda looking for.

 

For me, the main let down is not being able to adjust body sizes or y'know, the other things. But hey, we can't have everything. I can live with that

Regardless of how the player adjusts the sliders, most characters still bare a strong resemblance to the parents as there are few sliders to play with. This, coupled with the few parents to choose from (and arguably, fewer parents that a achieve a "desirable" result) is where the character creator falls short. This is where the so-called "Hannah clones" come from (and to a lesser extent, Sophia and Misty "clones"). Perhaps I was spoiled by the Fallout 4 character creator, but the ability to completely transform the default characters into something unique with such little effort was... marvellous.

I've only seen a handful of people use Amelia as a parent. IMO, she's got one of the more natural faces out of all the parents.

 

As far as the creator goes, body sizes and a more detailed face editor would have been sweet. I dunno how this system was approved, but it's whatever. Some people made it work because their characters look pretty good.

 

E: FO4's system was amazing though. I'm still learning new things with that creator.

However, just thinking about it, this is a last gen game, built for PS3 and 360.

 

Had GTA V been made specifically for the PS4 and X1 gen, instead of being just a remastered port, I think the Character Creation would've be on par with games like Fallout 4 etc (not to mention performance and graphical updates but I digress). Also GTA has never been Saints Row when it comes to character customisation, it's never been a huge focus until GTAO really, so i'm just glad we've got it as decent as it currently is.

 

Just a bit of perspective to keep in mind before completely tearing the CC apart.

 

I do remember my parents being something like 90% Hannah and 10% John Marston, but that got me the base to get to what I was looking for, as long as i'm happy with what i look like, the clone thing doesn't bother me.

Initially I thought the 'heritage' idea was kinda neat - It's essentially blending presets together in a vague form of context. Sure there are a lot of similar-looking characters but as people like Charmlessrogue have proven, you can still do quite a lot with it with a bit of patience.

 

The current-gen characters are a big step forward in terms of their appearance though. I have some character pics from my 360 days and wow, they haven't aged well.

Yulia was born in Omsk, Russia, just southwest of Siberia shortly before her parents relocated in the city of Moscow. Her father was a decorated military commander and her mother was a university professor in Biomechanics. Yulia's dream was to become a professional gymnast for her country throughout much of her childhood, and her family and friends as well as her coaches have urged her to hold on to that dream because she was truly talented. But, one day her older sister Valentina was killed in a mysterious car accident that left her and the family devastated for months leaving her to give up any hopes of fulfilling her dream.

 

After 2 years of unsuccessful investigation that prompted the case to go cold, her father decided to again relocate the family to America where he believed in starting anew. Starting a new life in Algonquin, Yulia began spending her life studying in the states while working part time at the Cherry Popper Ice Cream Company, and because Yulia was very talented, she successfully obtained the knowledge of becoming fluent in six different languages as she was also among the top graduates. The everyday memories of her late sister Valentina inspired her to pursue a career in the Law & Justice field and she truly felt that she could represent and help the people that were seeking true justice.

 

However, just as she was moving closer to becoming a lawyer, she received a mysterious phone call that hinted clues surrounding her sister's mysterious death. The person of interest and the whereabouts remained unknown and it is unclear as to why that person suddenly spoke free of Valentina's death only to be clear to Yulia that the people responsible for Valentina's death was non other than Dimitri Rascalov and Jimmy Pegorino. Devastated and enraged by the clues of her sister's death, Yulia once again decided to give up her dream on becoming a lawyer to seek revenge without leaving a single word behind to her parents.

 

Yulia disappeared for 5 years following the mysterious phone call encounter, and her parents were left heartbroken at the expense that she may never return like Valentina. After a long wide search conducted by the LCPD and the FIB, the search was to no avail and was put to a halt, but one day the Director of the FIB was tipped by a local Russian police authority that Yulia may in fact be in Russia, as it turned out that Yulia was in the country with an unidentified person, but there were no further information and her whereabouts remained unknown, the FIB were never able to find her. A year later, the local Russian authorities once again tipped the FIB with a new information that was found rather puzzling, it was said that someone within the Russian government saw a woman who he believed to be in matching description of Yulia as she was seen with an unknown male associate inside of the premises. It was later reported that the woman who's believed to be in matching description of Yulia was an agent working for the Russian security agency. Although the FIB was granted access of entering Russia for further search and investigation, they were never able to confirm and find Yulia, the search and investigation was called off shortly after.

 

After receiving words of her mother's death from cancer and her father's illness, Yulia finally returned to Algonquin undetected. She spent the rest of the months tending to her father's care until his final moments. Her confession was made to her father that her subsequent disappearance was due to finding her sister's death was no accident. Shocked and saddened by the news of Valentina's death, in tears, the final words of her father was to prevent Yulia from going any deeper in the paths of danger and for her to live on a carefree life for the sake of her sister. But, she could not hold onto that promise as she vowed to get the people responsible for Valentina's death.

 

In 2008, the LCPD and the FIB conducted an investigation following the deaths of mob bosses Dimitri Rascalov and Jimmy Pegorino, although no leads were found and the case remained unsolved. The only information the authorities had was that they believed the death was a feud resulted from a double cross in a heroine deal. It was also believed that Yulia had become in close contact with Niko Bellic whom she had been working with ever since the two coincidentally found that they have both fallen victim to Rascalov and Pegorino, as a subsequent, Niko Bellic managed to kill both Rascalov and Pegorino, bringing justice and getting revenge for his and Yulia's loss putting an end to the tyranny. Although Niko Bellic's whereabouts still remain unknown, Yulia currently resides in Los Santos under a completely different identity, and it is unknown and unclear as to whether she's still an agent or not, but the FIB believes that she may still be active and undergoing numerous classified operations.

 

Yulia is regarded by close friends and family as being a very beautiful woman who is highly intelligent, caring, and humble, as well as sophisticated. She is also known to be very ambitious, joyful and humorous as also being very quick on her feet. A class of her own but also a beauty that can be very dangerous.

I lost interest in role playing long time ago back when people played GTA:SAMP so don't expect any bios or background stories. I haven't given any name to this character either. Created about a year ago, was my fourth attempt in creating decent looking female character on current gen. IMHO she looks pretty good and I'm satisfied with this character. Used as my main character design on multiple of my GTA accounts.

Anyways, here are five shots made within Rockstar Editor. Those are screenshots taken on PS4 but acutall snaps with lower resolution can be found on my Snapmatic profile. Hope you don't mind police outfit but this selfie was taken long time ago and it turned out so well I thought it will fit this post.

EDIT: And the best way to keep this from devolving into incessant bitching and whining is ignore the bitchers and whiners, they are usually the same people who do it everywhere. We'll clean this up and when the later stages get here people will be more easily able to take this seriously.

I've seen some pretty nice and appealing characters in the mix here. The level of photography and mixing/editing is very high, so definitely I'm striving to get to that level one day myself. I'm actually very pleased with this competition, as it finally inspired me to ' start and learn' using the editor ( a lil). The only downside is the fact I haven't played GTA-online in a few days. :-)

 

So don't let the negativity get to you, Sin-13. There will Always be people that thrive on putting others down. In fact, the one(s) receiving the complaints should take it as a compliment, as they're clearly perceived as a 'threat' to the complainers, hehe...
