Sexy peds

Since I've grabbed your attention with the title, now I can continue :D Long time ago when I was looking in the data files for interesting stuff I opened pedstats.dat. It's an interesting file which contains some kinda stats for different peds in the game (but not all of them I guess). The stats are the following: Flee distance, Heading change rate, Fear, Temper, Lawfullness, Sexiness, Attack strength, Defend weakness and at the end you have some flags. Some of the stats are understandable but I'm not sure how some others are being used in game.

Obviously the thing that caught my attention is the Sexiness stat :D which has a value between 0 and 100. I really don't quite understand why would you have that. For example in San Andreas the player has a sexappeal stat but that's something different. Probably R* had something in mind but they've never actually made it.

But let's see some interesting sexiness stats:

Well, no wonder - prostitutes have 100 sexiness.

Most of the peds don't have many sexiness points, even the player (Claude) has 50 which I can't understand (no homo :D).

There are some interesting numbers popping out:

The fireman has 80 sexiness... but why? What makes firemen so sexy?

erc4km.jpg

Another interesting number is 90 and it belongs to busker... I don't even know what busker is, I searched the gta3.img archive but there are no files that contain "busker". Another peds with more sexiness than the average are tough guy/girl and street guy/girl with 60 points. I don't know which peds are these, maybe you can help?

Also there are some peds with extremely low sexiness stats (5 points) - geek guy/girl and old guy/girl.

Probably the geek guy is that student around Liberty Campus with his interesting drawings:

About the geek girl.. I'm not sure but it could be that girl with the bag on her back walking around Liberty Campus too:

I hope I've brought up an interesting topic to discuss. What's your opinion? Why do you think peds have sexiness stats and how it's used in game? Do you find all sexiness stats accurate?

These are the buskers:

My guess would be that the sexiness stat is related to peds looking at each other, and maybe saying some specific lines like that creepy guy saying "come to daddy" at other peds but again I think these are random lines so it's probably nothing much.

Or as you said, it might be something related to sex appeal that GTA SA has, like, I think there's a cheat that allows the girls to follow you wherever you go, I don't know if a such thing is possible with maximum sex appeal as I've never really paid attention to that stat but it might be a beta feature that was implemented in SA and left in III's codes.

Exactly! Especially gang members have this ability to react to a hooker passing by. How could any of you forget the 'shake it baby foxy lady mwah mwah mwah' triad line? Just check out the gang members quotes on youtube and you'll see what I mean. :D

Maybe it's related to the prostitutes? Maybe if you have more sexiness you have a bigger chance for a prostitute to accept to get in your car and vice versa.

BTW the buskers are sexy AF :D lol

"Busker" is UK English for someone doing a street performance for money, like playing music, doing acrobatics, stuff like that (and the act itself is naturally called "busking"). Considering R* is originally from Scotland you can see how some of this vernacular inevitably ends up in their games from time to time, like how in Vice City in one cutscene Ken Rosenberg calls a party a "do".

Interesting stuff, though, at this point it's rare to come across new nuggets of information regarding this game. I guess the code reveals a higher levet of pedestrian interactivity than I had previously thought. :)

Just so everyone knows prostitutes in gta3 can get in traffic cars. I've had it happen on a rare occasion.

Yes, for sure, I have seen this too. Just like thieves can steal other cars. That's why I thought that probably sexiness has something to do with this.

Why not try changing STAT_PLAYER's (or any other ped's) sexiness to 100 and then back to 0 to see if it changes anything in-game? Maybe peds' behavior towards the player changes or something. Have you tried this?

The sexiness setting should cause peds to compliment on other ped's sexiness if the other ped's sexiness is higher than the one complimenting.

And the player's sexiness? I swear I've seen Claude checking out tits and asses as I run through Red Light.

I've noticed that too, but I don't know if it's actually caused by that sexiness or if it's just a general reaction to running too close to a ped or brushing against one.

Sorry for bringing this topic back to life, but I'm interested in this feature. What is it for? Is about what spaceeinstein explained? If so, how does it work? I ask because I haven't listened to any kind of dialogue regarding sexiness in-game.

Sure, we have observed what this stat is used for while we were working on GTA3D.

Since the mod places a great varion of pedestrians on a small map you can observe different behaviours that you're less likely to bump into or notice in the vanilla version of GTA3.
When there are "sexy peds" around then other pedestrians will react to them through flirty language, especially gang members towards woman ped with a higher sexy stat.

It isn't too interesting but it basically acitvates flirts and reactions from usually male peds when there are sexy woman peds around. Kinda like a special reaction behaviour.

It never occurred to me that they would be called something else in the USA! What term do the Americans use?

Probably "street performer", but I haven't lived in the US for a long time so that may not necessarily be true.
