Starting a new character

Recommended Posts

So, I wanted to start a new character. I plan on selling all my cars and taking that money and spending it on my new character. I wanted a fresh* start. Are there any reasons why I should not go through with this?

Personally, I would keep your first character open, while still creating the second character. There are numerous benefits to having two characters, since the bank account is shared across the two.

Some reasons why you shouldn't go through:

-You lose all of your progress on your first character if you delete it.

-You're starting fresh, which while is rewarding, can be a struggle depending on what your previous rank was.

-You lose reputability in jobs since some players may not trust other players who are low ranks.

-You have to re-unlock all of the missions.

Some reasons why you should go through:

-You keep your money, and the bank account is shared. This means if you earn $5,000,000 on your first character, that money is immediately accessible on your second character, and vice-versa.

-You have the experience of using two characters, which may be a benefit.

-You have a second character for testing purposes.

-You'll be able to keep your awards earned. However, unlocks are not saved.

Well because I'm pretty sure you can put all your money on your first character. Withdraw all money so it's on hand and then creat a new second character that will be fresh and won't have access to your money you had originally. It's basically starting fresh without starting over. The only thing is your KD will be shared with your original character.

You'll be an underdog with the sh*tty health and have no car mods due to level lock/race wins. You'll at least have access to DLC weapons which are some of the best so no issue there.

We're not stopping you but keep in mind that if you do go through with this there's no going back. Best of luck, though. ;)

Pro's -

You are less likely to waste cash on trying cars and things you know you already don't like or want.

You know what you are doing and how to grind nd make cash

Con's -

You have a long way ahead of you yo get back to where you were.

Unless you show skills, I will drop you in missions if you aren't great, simply because of your low rank

you will get creamed in pvp for ages until you build back up

I have done it with my 2nd character, she's now rank 188. It was enjoyable but only because I knew I had my main character as a fallback when the grind got tiresome.

Maybe not. I've been playing the same character for a year and got up to rank 464. Recently made a new character and it's kind of fun starting from (almost) nothing again.

I diddnt see anything saying they were deleting the character, just liquidating assets. However I wouldn't do that either. I have two characters with a combined rank near 600, but I would leave all assets on character 1. Both of my characters have different locations and vehicles. The only thing I wish I would've done differently was a little different appearance since they are identical in that department

Isnt that not a big deal since no one really plays missions anymore?

You don't need to unlock missions again. It's really only weapons and clothes that you need to unlock again. And you keep most of your stats.

Not sure what he meant since all contact missions will be available but you will have to unlock some heists again to be able to buy a Kuruma & Insugent etc.

Overall i would go for it but I wouldn't sell or delete anything from my first character.

If I create a second character, then delete my first, will my second become the the first character slot? If not, what shows up on the socialclub? the second character or like one of those non-created characters? Because I do have a second character just sitting around and I cant see it on the socialclub.

Pretty sure it shows the last character played on SC.

Seriously? Why would you ever do that?

This game is absolutely rubbish when it comes to balancing for low-levels, it's no longer a town of small fish and big fish, low levels are just candy to experienced players and modded accounts from all the restrictions they have.

Just stick with your character, starting "fresh" is as fresh as a box of rotten apples, having this much pride in absolutely nothing that is worthwhile makes no sense whatsoever.

Kinda reminds me of that one dumb idiot who moved his millions into the pocket of his secondary character after selling all of his cars and deleting the said secondary character, claiming it opened a new "experience" for him.

My main character now is my 3rd character, I get bored of having everything unlocked since there's nothing to work for after 120, except for the ability to carry 10 body vests.
It wasn't til recently that I started just making secondary characters or accounts for new characters.

It ultimately comes down to you though, I personally like doing jobs and activities but others look at that as 'grinding'.

Now it's the good time to do it. With the CEO crate stuff you can level up quickly.

Dear OP, please listen to the posters in this thread and don't do anything drastic. I hope my post isn't too late.

Your main character represents everything you've so far achieved in GTA online, so keep it always. Your second character can be very useful though and is definitely worth having. I use mine for things I can't do with my main (male) character.

For example, my main character is my main man - over 50 Pegasus vehicles, practically every top supercar, all the most expensive stuff, CEO offices, warehouses, yacht, etc... why would you ever want to wipe or delete that?

My second character has UNIQUE qualities though - a female for a start (different to the main), and all the clothing options associated with that female character. A male CEO secretary (again unique), a unique bike garage for vehicles I can't fit on my main character because of garage space restrictions. A coupé/open-top car garage, again, all unique cars...

Use your second character as a buffer for things you can't do on your main character, or as a unique way of collecting things, but never as a replacement.
