People need to pay attention to this. If this is the reason there are issues then it's 100% nothing to do with anyone other than Rockstar. If ^^ that is the actual problem then they've basically introduced bugs in the server application, to the point where it won't run. This can be something as simple as missing a character out somewhere (or having one where there shouldn't be).

 

Yep. Pretty much, I see it only as maintenance as all of their prod.* domains are live. Probably just a misconfiguration in the db that they're resolving. Might be something bigger than that, I'm not sure.

 

Wish posts could be stickied so this explanation could stay at the top. This is not a DDoS.

 

Whilst PoodleCorp may actually be attempting to knock R* offline (or more than likely, ros/cloud), I doubt they actually hold responsibility of current issues and are simply capitalizing on the moment. Another case of correlation =/= causation.

 

Not to mention R* actually uses a cloud DDoS protection by Akamai. https://www.akamai.com/us/en/cloud-security.jsp

 

(just do a traceroute to the main R* server and you get a Prolexic [Akamai DDoS protection] address)
