#1: DTR

DOWN TO RIDE

There are 9 people in Vice City who will become friends with Pablo if you manage to meet them. All of them are criminals, but some of them look cleaner than the others. There are 15 side missions in the game that are unlocked by doing DTR missions. You can also call them during missions to help you with things, so it's suggested that you do the DTR missions.

Read more about this feature in the Characters' list.

#2: Drug Dealing System

Unlocked after Main Storyline's Mission 4

You can make yourself some extra money by dealing drugs. Sometimes it's necessary to do it, but you can still do it at any time. There are 5 Distributors and 2 Warehouses in the Vice City. You can either buy some from the distributors or steal some from the Warehouses.

There are different drugs in the game:
Weed Popular in Vice City's Gang Areas

Cocaine and Crack Popular in Vice Beach, mostly with strippers
Ecstasy Popular in Vice Beach

Lean Popular in Vice Beach and Vice City's Gang Areas

LSD Popular in Vice Beach

Read Mission 4 for more information on how this system works.

#3: Taxi Driving Side Mission

Unlocked after Curtis Curry missions

This side mission has 10 levels. Every level features a longer distance and more passengers. By completing the 10th level, your driving skill will increase. You can do this side mission to gain money, anyway, it's one of the lowest-paid side missions in the game. The minimum fare is 5$ and the highest fare in the game is 90$, which includes waiting for the passenger to pick up some stuff from their apartment (or doing shopping, etc.) and changing the destination for two or three times.

#4: Street Racing Side Mission

Unlocked after Savage Dre missions

This side mission features 20 races in different areas of Vice City. By winning every 4 races, your driving skill will increase and you'll gain an average of 4,000$ by doing each race. The last race which goes through the Vice City, Vice Beach, and ends at Gate El Oeste, will bring you 50,000$.

#5: Vigilante Side Mission

Unlocked after Dave Clark missions

In this side mission you will be ordered to kill or arrest criminals. It has 10 levels and while decreases your respect among gangs, it makes your Shooting and Driving skills increase. Also you'll get access to 5 bulletproof vehicles, rare bulletproof vest and your maximum armor increased 50% by completing this side mission. The average cash you can collect by doing each level is 10,000$ , but you can get up to 18,000$ depending on your speed.

#6: Guardian Angel Side Mission

Started by going into Vice City's hospitals

You can start by going into the hospital and talking to the recieptients. They will give you an address from where you should bring the patient to the Emergency Department. After that, you will get the details through Ambulance's radio. This side mission has 10 levels and completing each level has a 2,000$ reward. By the end of last level, your maximum health will increase 50%.

#7: Heists

Unlocked by doing Lola Vasquez's mission

Lola Vasquez wants a special kind of sniper, which is only used by FIB. If you can get it for her, she'll tell you more about her heist plans. You should gather a crew of 3 to 5 people, so it's better to attempt doing the heists when gangs in the game have some respect for you. Then, you can plan it. Planning means telling each of the guys to do one of the 5 major tasks in the heist: Breaking Into The Bank, Disabling Bank's Security System, Fighting the law enforcement teams, Moving to the bank's safe and Driving the vehicle.

Tip: If you do the Cop Side Mission before starting a heist, you have a higher chance of success because you can use your bulletproof vehicles (the bulletproof Helicopter is recommended) and bribe your friends in VCPD for protection.

#8: Biker Gang Races Side Mission

Unlocked after Mike Spivey missions

This side mission features 15 races in different areas of Vice City. By winning every 5 races, your motorbike skill will increase and you'll gain an average of 1,000$ by doing each race. Using guns is allowed after the fifth race, so take care of yourself. The last race goes through the Vice Gates, and you can make up to 20,000$ from it.

#9: Unlocking Doors

Unlocked after Mission 5

You can unlock garage, warehouse, hotel room and apartments' locks and steal things. There are different methods of unlocking, which you'll learn through the game.

Enterable Buildings on the map are the ones you can unlock and rob.

#10: Airboat Driving Side Mission

Greenside's airboats are a new vehicle, introduced to GTA franchise in Vice City True Story. They're almost the only vehicle you can find in Greenside's wetlands. You can also go to G.A.G Tours (Greenside Airboat Guys) and get paid for taking people to thrilling rides with an airboat. This is somehow like a race, because it has checkpoints, but it's legal. You'll get 30$ for each tour ride and an extra 10$ after doing three ones.

#11: Real Estate, Properties and Hotels

There are many apartments you can buy or rent in Vice City. There are also several houses and mansions which are available for you to buy. Anyway, you'd better subscribe to the VCFLRealEstate.com website to get notified about properties that fit within you budget. That site will also help you find apartments and mansions for sale or rent. Without subscribing, you'll have to find them one by one.

There are also 30 hotel rooms you can get, which can be found easier in ViceCityTrippin.com.

#12: Businesses and Assets

There are 40 businesses you can acquire or take over, in Vice City. Your chance of success depends on your Local Repsect in the asset's place, the number of helpful people you know and - of course - your money.

#13: Criminals Crew

Unlocked by doing Lola Vasquez's mission

Criminals are found everywhere in Vice City. You can find some of them in every street. They won't give you side missions like DTRs do, but you can hire them. They can protect your businesses, escort you or anybody you order them to, shoot attackers, block the streets. There are also hackers who would be helpful in heists. You can form a Crew of 5 up to 15 people to accompany you when needed.

They have different levels of Driving, Shooting, Hacking and Street Respect. For hiring high-level criminals, you need local respect in the guy's area.

#14: Hunting

You can hunt animals in Greenside, but many of them are endangered species so Greenside Environment Saviors will hunt you down for it. There are animal and fur smugglers in Greenside who'd pay you for hunting a Florida Panther, Alligator or Sea Turtle.

#15: Trainers

There are fitness trainers in gyms. There are also Parkour trainers in the streets (who can be found only through talking with guys who do parkour moves in the city). Mike Spivey can teach you several stunts after finishing all the bike races, Andre Glover can teach you how to disable cars' security systems, hackers can give you some hacking tips. Lola Vasquez can give you a special sniper shooting ability and hunters in Greenside can improve your hunting skills.

#16: Drug Dealers Database

Unlocked after Mission 11, "The Delivery Boy"

This option is available in your cellphone as an application. You can see each drug dealer's interest and their distance to you. The more you deal, the more accurate this application gets.

#17: VCPD Police Database

Unlocked after Mission 13, "One Last Time"

VCPD's Database can only be accessed through cops' devices. They have its client in their cellphones, and every PC in VCPD has it. Much like police databases in other GTA games, you can search for people and see their criminal activities, or search for criminals in each area. It's useful for finding DTRs and criminals and adding them to your map.

There are also papers in VCPD's archive which contain top secret records from 80's and 90's. Some of them are missing, and the quest for finding them is the subject of "VC88"'s story.

** Searching for "Tommy Vercetti" redirects to a page about "The Italian Mob (1984-1995)". It says that their actions and behavior was inspired by the 1982 movie "This Is The Last Dance". Anyway there's no direct mention of Tommy Vercetti and that movie cannot be found in the game.

#18: Takeover

Unlocked after Mission 15, "Filthy Lucre"

This might remind you of heists, but it's different. You can attack businesses and threaten the owner to either "Pay Protection Money" to you and your gang or "Work Under Your Management". Some owners may try to escape but this only happens in legit businesses. Legit business assets can be bought, too, but buying is not an option when it comes to drug warehouses or ships.

You need a criminal team to perform a takeover. It can be either a group of gangsters that respect you, your Crew, a group of Lawbreakers MC members or Andre Glover plus two other people.

Reading Mission 15 will help you understand this system.

#19: Daily Income

Unlocked after Mission 15, "Filthy Lucre"

Your daily income is the total amount of money you gain from your businesses' activities. It's transmitted to your bank account everyday.

#20: Dating

You can take the girls you find in LifeInvader or the flirting ones in the streets, bars, etc. on a date. Dating at least one girl to the maximum progress level is necessary to reach the 100% completion. Just like in previous titles, girls have their own preferences and they have a Trust Level, which shows how good they feel about you. After gaining half of a girl's trust, you can take them home.

#21: VC88 Pieces

Unlocked after Mission 25

VC88 Pieces are 10 papers that you should find in order to start the third chapter of story. Three ones are found in 25th mission but the 7 remaining ones are in different parts of the city (explained in Mission 25).

Local Respect System

VCTS' new HUD, shows Local Respect Level in place of GTA V's Special Ability bar. When you're in different areas of the city, the bar's level will change due to the number of people you know, businesses you own or deals you've made in that specific area. It can also be completely negative: If you have killed important people of a particular area or worked with a gang's enemies, you will have Hood Wanted Level but this only happens in neighborhoods with gangs, like Little Haiti.

http://s1.picofile.com/file/8263230476/radar_gang_respect.pnghttp://s1.picofile.com/file/8263230526/radar_gang_wanted.png

What happens if you have Local Respect?

  • In regular areas: People you know will say hello and if you stop in the street, some might offer to drive you to wherever you want, or walking people might stop and talk to you. Police officers won't do anything special, and shopkeepers will treat you nice.
  • In Gang Hoods: Gang members will gather around you and start talking, offering you to meet their friends (this is a way to meet DTRs). They'll also offer you free ammo and give you their phone numbers. When you're in a mission that contains shooting or driving activity, you can go to the gang hoods you have Local Respect in, and pick some gang members up to do some of the work for you.

What happens if you have Local Wanted Level?

  • In regular areas: People will stay away from you or escape from you, some people may call 911 if you talk to them, Taxis won't stop to pick you up, and police officers will confront you even though you don't have a Law Enforcement Wanted Level.
  • In Gang Hoods: Gang members will wave middle fingers for you, run at you and start fighting, talk crazy about you, shoot you. If your wanted level is too high, they may even try to hit you with their cars or run at you in groups and kill you.

Fighting And Stealth System

  • You can perform counter-attacks when you have light-weight SMG weapons, pistols or melee weapons, when somebody's behind you.
  • You can hide behind cars, trucks, trees, buildings or objects on rooftops and kill your target with a one shot.
  • Trainers can teach you some moves that help you during fights.
  • You can jump down on people from buildings. This will especially help you in gang wars, in case you want to start with a surprise for the rival gang.

The logo looks like an icon for a mobile phone/tablet video game. For a while, I thought there are two pop radio stations (you should move that Charli XCX song on Crush 103).

The whole concept looks neat, overall.

Ivan1997GTA

The concept looks good, in modern-day Vice City. I think you should add "Ocean Drive" by Duke Dumont on the soundtrack, probably on Crush 103. Some of the other stations could probably be one dedicated to synthwave, and another one playing 70's & 80's pop music.

Hmmm... I just wanted it to be different from other GTA logos, you know. I know it may seem a bit like VC's 10th anniversary icon or other mobile games, but it looks good, doesn't it?

And I moved it. Thanks for reviewing my work at this early stage. :)

I had a plan for a synthwave station and was just deciding on its logo, so I added it to the Soundtrack right after reading your comment. The Flashback FM and another station I have on my mind right now, RamJam, are really tricky to me because I don't know those genres much. I mean, I absolutely have listened to some 70's/80's rock, or in RamJam's case, Reggae, but they're the essentials and as far as I know, R* never uses "Greatest hits" lists in its radio stations.

@everybody viewing the concept: I'm gonna start the story soon. As I've stated before, missions are brief and short, so I can actually tell the full story (not in the most detailed way). What's your opinion on that Down-To-Ride thing?

Also I need help with choosing a theme song that suits a modern-day VC. It's really tricky. If anybody can help me with remaining radio stations or the theme song, message me.

Well for radio stations you could put the underneath the name of the station. Also if you need stations/songs you can type in genres in Google and they probably give some bands or some songs. Also if you need help creating stations just think of characters/groups/gangs in your game and what would they listen to. I could add a station if you need help :) .

Was that short/brief missions statement a poke at me, lol.

Cool game.

Now, it's home to about one-tenth of Florida's population, most of whom are supporters of Conservative Party.

I never knew Americans liked British politics so much.

It's a good concept and all but I'm still iffy an out the music. Everything just feels too "new", very little 80s stuff that Miami is known for.

I'm a big Hip-Hop fan (you may have guessed by looking at the Soundtrack already lol). Just try searching "Best 90's hip hop songs" and the result is probably bullsh*t and no real Hip Hop fan agrees with it. Maybe it just happens with Hip Hop, but I guess that's the same for all genres. Google doesn't have a good taste of music, as far as I know.

Now, it's home to about one-tenth of Florida's population, most of whom are supporters of Conservative Party.

I never knew Americans liked British politics so much.

It's a modern-day VC concept, and 80's music has been overused (VC, VCS, IV's VCFM, and even some hits on V's Non-Stop Pop) so I had to use more new music. Even I myself don't prefer "Panda Panda Panda" to "Billie Jean" but there's no other choice. This is what's hot today, unfortunately. That "Beat Box" radio was somehow my real-hip-hop-apology for that Trap station.

Check out that Flashback FM radio (it'll be there in minutes), it may be what you're missing.

BTW, I don't know what to call Republicans in GTA. Progressive-Aggressive Party? or Republicans itself? or Conservatives? Whatever, I meant Republicans by that word.

Just call them republicans. And even then, it's a stupid assumption since Miami is one of the most liberal parts of the state. It shouldn't be that hard to do that much research on it.

>80s music has been overused *points out these games*

And rap music hasn't? Come on.

Nice concept man. Its just that vice city would feel weird since its not in the 80's. Los santos, San fierro and las venturas didn't really have any time of 90's vibe to it.

About the responses:

The logo looks like an icon for a mobile phone/tablet video game. For a while, I thought there are two pop radio stations (you should move that Charli XCX song on Crush 103).

The whole concept looks neat, overall.

Hmmm... I just wanted it to be different from other GTA logos, you know. I know it may seem a bit like VC's 10th anniversary icon or other mobile games, but it looks good, doesn't it?

And I moved it. Thanks for reviewing my work at this early stage. :)

The concept looks good, in modern-day Vice City. I think you should add "Ocean Drive" by Duke Dumont on the soundtrack, probably on Crush 103. Some of the other stations could probably be one dedicated to synthwave, and another one playing 70's & 80's pop music.

Cool game.

Google doesn't have a good taste music, as far as I know.

I did a Google Search and it wasn't that bad, you could also Google "Hip Hop Subgenres" to find more artists/songs, I say find a theme to your station and try to find songs that match it maybe that will help. I did a 90s Hip Hop station (Tsunami Jam) for my VC game/thread and I say it was pretty good (unless someone wants to say otherwise).

@universetwisters: Then maybe I should reconsider some parts of the story, too. I'll edit this. But hip-hop is too damn diverse. 80's Pop is ""80's"" pop. Some people still love it but the craze has died. Not every game set in Miami has to be a promotion for 80's culture.

Of course it's amazing, but old. As you can see, the hip-hop stuff here is mostly trap (which i hate, but is popular as f*ck) and it didn't even exist in 10 years ago.

Even then, there are two stations with your preferred genre so why do we even have an argument?!

I guess you don't wanna believe it's 2016. OK then, sorry for the 30-year advance in time. We already have Tyla's legendary concept on 80's VC (with your name on the first post) and two GTA games set in that era. I'm doing a modern-day one.

Nice work. I'm a big fan of the map and the whole way you've laid the concept out. My only gripe is that I think there could be more to the location than Vice Beach/City + Greenside. I think you're someone who's put the research in and capable of adding another, more rural county to your map, a bit like Los Santos had Blaine County. Only thing I know about modern-day Florida are the freaks who do the rounds every once in the while when they f*ck up on hallucinogenics and have a melt down, and it would be fun to have an area full of these kinds of crazy people.

My weigh in on the soundtrack: you've done a good job and I like how you're steering away from using "greatest hits" because no soundtrack should sound like it fell out of one of those sh*tty newspapers you get for free on a Sunday. I'm not too arsed about the 80s stuff. I don't think you actually need an 80s pop station, right now it's probably the weakest of the stations you've got because it's just random 80s songs put there to please people for the most part. Miami Vice had an awesome soundtrack because it made use of the massive amount of different genres out there at the time, but could you actually name most of the songs they used? When you think of it like that, the music in this concept is actually pretty good and like Miami Vice, hopefully what we have to endure on the radio these days will be long forgotten thirty years from now.

DTR feature sounds great. Bit like a better thought out version of random freaks but actually of use to you for criminal escapes, not silly sh*t like menopausal marathon runners.

Your ignorance is truly showing. You're willing to accept that hip hop is "too damn diverse", yet you're blind to the fact that 80's pop is just as diverse, nevermind the fact that it existed in only the span of 10 years. If we use the term "pop music" literally, then you have New Wave, Flashdance-esque hi-nrg stuff, synthpop, hair metal, and quite possibly even punk in some instances.

Just because it's pop doesn't mean it has to be bubblegum dance stuff.

-- an answer based on two sentences --

While my actual point is this:

Sorry UT, but what seemed to be a suggestion from you, has turned into trolling. I wrote a paragraph and all you read was 11 words which seem to be against 80's music. What about giving a 3-day-old concept some time? Maybe I've got some ideas. Maybe it turns out to be a memorable one, huh?

Thank you for paying attention to this concept, Tyla.

The idea that led me to write this DTR thing down, was getting rid of multiple protagonists and strangers and freaks at the same time, and replacing them with something better. An example for how it works is... Imagine that Lance Vance didn't automatically spawn every time you needed him, in GTA VC. So in a mission like Phnom Penh '86, you'd need a pilot for that helicopter, or a shooter. Having DTRs, gives you a chance to choose the way you want to do this mission. You can either call your shooter friend and take control of the helicopter, or call your other friend that can control the heli properly, and shoot the gangstas yourself.

There was another reason, too. I think in HD Universe it seems illogical to get in a taxi, push a button and start getting paid for driving. So let's have a realism-fix treatment for that. I want to bring many of the 3D Universe side missions back, but in a way that doesn't seem childish.

3 stations with rap, one with 80s music, another station with "retro wave" that's actually very recent, and an edm station. I only see the one.

Maybe you're right, I'm still very skeptical of seeing vice city in the modern age since it would pretty much be the same as GTA 5 but slightly different. But if your ideas say they're going to make it memorable, I guess I'll see what comes about then.

Seems weird, especially the title. Vice City True Story? Maybe True Crime: Vice City?

This might be good actually.

^ I dunno why, but when I was reading this mission, I pictured 3D Era Vice City on the RAGE engine with HD Era vehicles.

Glad to see you've added those 1980s songs I sent you in PM. Thanks for adding Marcus as well

I liked the first mission, it reminded me a bit of like a throwback to the original game. Also smart to have the game start in the Midtown district, I think in real life that area looks a lot like Ocean Drive now, with all the neon lights and fancy bars.

The more you tell us about DTR, the more interested I am in the idea. If there are nine characters down to ride, would that mean nine different ways to approach a mission?

Nice to see you like the introduction! :)

Not nine ways to do every mission, actually, because each DTR has his/her own skills, so some of them might be helpful in a mission and some of them might not. For example, Sarah is necessary in some points of the game, and completely useless in other points. Meanwhile, Lola can bring the crew you've built for the heists in other missions when you need them. But it's all up to the player. There are some missions with heavy shooting activity and lots of rivals coming for your head. You can keep it 3D-Era-Style, doing it all on your own; But it'll get a bit better if you do the heists and use your crew when they can help.

These are just simple examples, there's a lot to do with the DTR system.

Mission 02: Handle the Mess

Richard sends a message and says he wants Pablo to start your work in Vice City. He has a warehouse in Serenoa Bay, and there's some coke there he wants to get rid of, because they are "low-quality sh*t". Richard has found a customer for them. They don't pay much money but he says "Something is better than nothing".
Last line is "Go to the warehouse and wait til i call you".

Go to the Warehouse.

Richard calls.
Richard: Don't ask me sh*t Pablo I'm on a hurry.
Pablo: With strippers probably, huh?
- Damn man I'm serious! You see that truck there?
Pablo has his eyed locked on the truck. He says: Guess I do.

- Take it to the Greenside Road. There are some guys in a little, you know, kinda a hut, on the road's side. I've told them to block your way when they see you.
- What bout the price, and my cut?
- Half of it is yours Pablo, but that damn warehouse is all yours if you don't f*ck this one up.
- As long as you guarantee the money, I won't f*ck anything up.

Get in The Truck.
Drive to Greenside Road.

Someone runs into the road.

Stop driving and get out the car.

One of the guys, watching the road with binoculars, says that the cops are coming. The other dealer advises you to drive away.

Throw the money bag in the truck.
Drive back to The Warehouse.

Reward: 15,000$

Nice mission! Looking at the vehicle list, I think I would spend some of that $15,000 on one of these :p

I've got a quick question about VC82; will it take place during the storyline, or be separate from the main game?

Within the main game. It shows the things Pablo finds out about the past. It changes his mind on many things, and changes the player's decisions too, probably. Edited by Jezus Holy Christ
