Another zombie game. If it's any good I'll pick it up when it's around 30$.

It looks like a cross between The Last Of Us and World War Z. I'm looking forward to seeing how the PS4 copes in situations with massive "hordes" of the freakers on screen.

I'm really interested in this game so far.. I predict a 85-87 metacritic score but I hope it gets a 90+

It's getting horrible reviews tbh. 7/10 games aren't bad, I've enjoyed a load of them, but for an AAA big budget open world game? Christ. Gotta f*ck it up pretty bad to get that formula wrong.

Normally I'm not really into zombie games, but I am interested in this one (mostly because of a biker protagonist and motorcycles).I'll check out a few Youtube videos to see if the story and gameplay are good, and maybe I'll get it in the future when it's gonna be cheaper

Bad reviews. Something deep down told me it was gonna flop. Never trust a game with a biker protagonist. My days of buying average games are over so it's a no. I'm sure I wouldn't have the will to finish it. I just can't sit down and play mediocre games anymore.

I wouldn't mind if it was an Open world biker game that didn't have Zombies and was more like a full longer TLAD. But it isn't so far this game looks bad but I still want to play it.

The biker stuff just did nothing for me from day one. I'm kinda onboard with the idea of an open world zombie single player game, but yea that biker stuff did nothing for me at all.

Also, anyone hear about the slaver stuff in the game? The character you play, Deacon (I believe that's his name) has a history of selling people to camps before the games story starts, and he gets sh*t for it during the game by various characters. There's also a mission that briefly involves some slavery stuff.

Maybe it's just me but what the f*ck is with that? When it comes to making a character with a dark past I feel like there's better ways than that.

Disappointing. I didn't expect my biggest fears for this game to come true. So it ended up being a regular ass open world game that doesn't really excel at anything it does. It is just mediocre. :(  I was this close to buying this dammit.

I need a game to play...

Joel had a very dark past in The Last Of Us as well. Don't read below if you haven't played the game or do it at your risk.

He was with the hunters you end up fighting in Pittsburgh. A group that ambushed innocent defenseless people(women and children as well)and killed them without any mercy just to take anything they have. Their hideouts also indicated torture. I haven't seen anything about it in Days Gone but people make mistakes.

If the writing is believable there's nothing wrong with it. I felt it was done right TLOU and explained a lot about how hardened Joel was. But if you do it wrong it just ruins the protagonist.

Wasn't aware of that, never played TLOU my self. Personally speaking I have no issue playing characters with dark pasts with the story being one of redemption, but idk, the slavery aspect is uhhhhhh to me. There's lovable scumbags and there's straight up scumbags and Days Gone's protag seems to lean the second one for me.

I've only just started to play it and so far it feels pretty solid. Obviously I have to reserve judgement by how much it holds up until I play more, but the melee atleast feels brutal and satisfying.

If you're turned off by all the negative reviews I think this one helps counterbalance somewhat. Seems way more genuine and honest IMO. The IGN one I watched was a joke lol.

They complained that the slow mo ability Deacon can acquire doesn't make sense for a biker and gave no explanation as to why.🙄

I doubt it'll be a GOTY contender, but give it a chance I think.

Thanks man! So bikers can't have slow mo but outlaws can lol, the thing is with my economy ( in mexican pesos) I'm taking more careful buying launch games (the last two where RDR & RE2) but I might take the risk with this one...

I usually don't enjoy games that take lower scores than 84-85. So I mostly agree with critics. Though it doesn't mean I enjoy any game with a high score. I still dump like half of those based on my taste.

There have been only two exceptions to this rule. Hitman Absolution and Sleeping Dogs.

Personally I find relying on review scores alone a bit dangerous as I prefer to make up my own mind whether it's any good or not. From what I've seen so far it's getting a bit roughed up, but I bet if it had Naughty Dog's name on the cover it would be getting unanimous praise.

This developer from my understanding hasn't made a console game since 2004 so IMO they deserve some slack for basically missing a whole console generation and this being their first major title in 15 years.

After playing some more of it its charm is slowly opening up. The bike mechanics actually feel great so I'm glad that's something that's been done right as it's the main type of transportation. I still don't want to jump to conclusions just yet, but I don't see this being one of the worst 2019 releases. I think it'll be one of those games appreciated more as time goes on.

I don't think it's right to call it the worst 2019 release. It's simply a mediocre game from what I've seen.

I do try low rated games from time to time but in the end I don't enjoy them much. I don't criticize the devs(unless they spent big on it and lied like EA) because I know they tried but I have high standards and can't cope with mediocre games anymore. I just play high quality games nowadays. I don't want to "wait" for the good parts. I want a high quality experience in the entire journey . In the past I could finish these normal games too but now I just can't do it. I don't know how you can do it with 33 years of age lol.

Agree, I'm 23 years old but my gaming days are starting to get low (I have a lot of other sh*t to worry about that im afraid to become a cassual) I have only tried like fifteen games this generation. I do a lot of research in wich game I wanna play/buy next (unless it's a R* or ND game). Anyway 7.2 user score this might go up?

I haven't played it but from what I've heard and seen my self, calling it one of 2019's worst releases is silly, even if we're only counting AAA games. 7/10's can be fun, Crackdown 3 got scathing reviews but I overall had a lot of fun with it and I'd bet that there's fun to be had in Days Gone too.

That said, given the type of open world game it is, the scores are kinda inexcusable in some ways. Whip up a polished open world game with most/all of the common open world tropes and you'll get 8/10's across the board at the least, do it well and you'll get 9/10's (Spider-Man and Horizon Zero Dawn are an example of this), but to get the reviews Days Gone is getting is oof, it feels like something has went wrong somewhere in development. Though perhaps it could be the first victim of of critics finally being tired of the formulaic approach to open world design that we've been seeing for years now, or perhaps it's a victim of an open world game like RDR2 coming out late last year. I also hear that it's got some big technical issues, at least in the review copies, which played a part in the low scores as well.

But yea, 7/10 doesn't mean that it's literal trash and has zero fun whatsoever, but from a development stand point I bet some people at Sony are scratching their heads given their first party studios recent track record. It explains why they kept the embargo up til the day before release as well.

It seems like Days Gone doesn't have particularly fun mechanics or a good story, unlike Horizon and Spiderman. Other than those two things both Horizon and Spiderman followed the same old open world formula that've known since last-gen. God of War is the only one that broke free from that (and became a massive success as a result of that). Risks pay off, I wish bigger developers did that more often.

In my experience 7/10 games on Metacritic tend to be fun games, but never fun enough to justify the full price. So I will eventually play this game for sure. Just not for the full price.

I read a lot of reviews and watched some "before you buy" videos, and Days Gone was almost unanimously getting slated.  I'm so glad I ignored them and bought it anyway.  I'm about 8 hours in and I'm really enjoying it.  There are so many things about the game that would normally put me off, but I enjoy the fact that I have to stop and maintain my bike every now and then, and have to find fuel.  I enjoy the tension of pouring fuel into my bike, wondering if anything is about to come bursting out the trees and try to kill me.  I'm definitely feeling the "everything wants to kill you" vibe.  Also, crafting very often irritates me in games, but this one does it quite subtly so I've never felt like it was a grind.

My only beef so far is that the bike is hard to handle.  I'm getting used to it, but as someone who's spent nearly all his GTAO life on a motorbike I do find motorbikes in other games are never even close to being as good.

That said, it's not so bad that it spoils it.  So far, it's a great game.  Each to their own, but I'm happy :)

Opinions of critics mean nothing, oftentimes they give low scores to some pretty good videogames, movies, TV shows and other stuff,or praise some that are nothing special (for example, crap like Fortnite has higher scores than Jurassic World Evolution, which is a pretty good game that I enjoyed playing).I personally will wait to see some Youtube videos of the gameplay and story before deciding should I buy it or not.

And there definitely are a few good games with a biker protagonist, first Road Rash game was great, and GTA TLAD is really underrated.
