Old question. Crew color

Can someone answer for me:

 

Back in the day when I played a lot if you were in a crew. You could change the color and use it on a car. then change the crew color and the original neon, color, and tire smoke on the car would remain as long as you didn't change it.

 

Is this still the case?

Yes.

I have several cars with different "crew" colors

 

You can't put different crew color paints on the same car, though. You can have tire smoke from crew-A and paint from crew-B and neon lights from crew-C though.

When i change it, how long does it take for it to take effect in game?

I would jump to story mode and back to give the game a chance to register the change.
