Off Road races excluding bikes

I'm really happy with the CS update overall, but hugely disappointed that with the new dirt bike it's still not possible to enjoy racing 4 wheeled vehicles off road.

 

Can anyone recommend any good user created off-road tracks where the bikes are not allowed ? (for Xbone)

There are no such races. If "customs on" is selected, players can join and use whatever vehicle they choose in that class.

 

So what you need, is a course that is loked to off road class except for the bikes and to host with Customs off. You wont be able to use your own truck but at least there wont be any bikes.

Correct, you can, but you cannot use your own custom vehicles.

 

If customs is turned on, it disregards any limitations and lets people choose any of the vehicles they have in that class.

 

Ex: I make a race locked to Trophy Trucks and Rally Raid trucks. If I turn customs on however, people can still choose their own motorcycle.

Yeah you are pretty much forced to make the track un-playable for bikers in order to make it competitive.

Damn - thanks for the info , I didn't realise that customs on would allow bikes.

 

Such a shame as there's some awesome off road cars and trucks available - but what's the point if the bikes will always just romp it?

 

The only ones I've played that bikes can't do are real mountain climbs that only the Sandking can manage - fun but slow and painful progress!

i always thought "custom on" wont have any effect aslong as you disable the vehicles you dont want people to use.

OP, if you are so inclined, you can create a "one-make race" locked to a specific vehicle, when you do that the option to use custom vehicle gets removed from the lobby menu, which forces every racer to use a stock vehicle.

 

It's not really what you want but it comes close, I think.

Thanks - you're right, it's about as good as it gets at the moment - either that or create some races that are impssible for bikes to complete because of deep water that the 4 wheel vehicles can get through , not 100% sure how easy that's going to be but can give it a try.

 

Think I'm gonna raise a ticket with Rockstar though, as the fact that vehicles which are not included when the race is built becomie available once custom is set to on seems like a defect to me.

Try if you like, but it has been that way since day 1, unlikely to change now.

I heavily agree that they need to make it so when you de-select a vehicle in the race creator, it's custom counterpart is unavailable to. It would be great because we could class and tier vehicles accordingly. Could it be abused so only crappy cars are enabled and whoever happens to own a fully upgraded variant wins? Yes, however that's what the downvote feature is for at the end of races.

 

But unfortunately as above, they'll probably never change it.

Honestly they just need a second 'category' menu when configuring races, that would help with balance in certain situations, especially with the unbalanced mess that the Off-road class has always been.

 

I.E. the race class is selected as Off-road, and immediately under it there should be a category option underneath it, when you adjust that you should be able to be more specific with the allowed vehicles:

All vehicles, Bikes and ATV's, Dune Buggy's, Modified 4x4 (Think Sand-kings and MW Mesas),Trucks and SUV's, Trophy Trucks ( Brawler, Desert Raid, ect...)...

 

A system like this for all race classes would be a welcome addition in my books, and you can still have full class racing if you feel like it.

Turbine is 100% RNG based on how the blades are turning when you get to the jump, it has absolutely nothing to do with skill.

 

Also to OP: People would abuse the hell out of custom races by locking out popular vehicles, while keeping a custom of some unpopular vehicle so they could win the race. I'm pretty sure people would straight away lock out the new racecars, X80, T20, Entity, Zentorno, Turismo, etc, while having a vacca or infurnus fully customized when everyone else has to use stock.

 

Also note that if you remove the 400, it's not much better anyway. Then it's just a race between the trophy truck and desert raid. You're still never going to see any races with the guardian, bifta, dune buggy, sandking, blazer, etc. It's just way too hard for R* to split the race classes down into more balanced classes. Off-road would have to be split into 10+ classes in itself.

Butthurt messages are the best, I love them and they motivate me.

 

Honestly I'm quite happy they changed it, because the dirt bike was too overpowered when compared to all the other off-road vehicles. I used to also drive mine on off-road races, of course, if I wanted to stand a chance, but I always disagreed with it.

They didn't change much.

They replaced a fast dirt bike with an even faster dirt bike, makes all other offload vehicles useless in races for the most part.

I dont think you understand. They just added a newer, faster dirt bike. They made it worse.

Thing is, I like to race clean - for sure you could just try and knock people off their bikes but it's not really very sporting, and also means that you're not really racing properly either. Apart from the bikes, the off-road class is pretty cool, lots of different vehicles with different abilities - strengths and weaknesses, but the bikes just dominate so much that every off-road race is essentially a bike race now.
