There's nothing wrong with wanting the best vehicles in the game. However, what I think is bullsh*t is when people think that all vehicles that aren't the best are automatically trash or useless when that is not true.

It's not hard to figure out.

Some cars are essential to keep up with the competition.

If you love to race, are you going to bring a lotus (whatever it's called in game) to a race against the Nissan R90CK? f*ck no. you'll get blown away regardless of skill.

Well, it's good to have a few cars that are solely for racing purposes if you wish to partake in that game mode. Otherwise, you're basically SOL from the beginning and cannot even be competitive. However, yes, most random players are primarily interested in super car races, so that sort of makes owning a quick and well-handling super car a must unless you only race selective classes with people that you already know.

As for myself, I currently only own one super car, and that car is simply for racing. Likewise, I own a competitive car in each class so that I am not limited when it comes to racing against others. However, most of my collection consists of vehicles that I simply enjoy--whether it is looks, the way it drives, or just something that I enjoy having in my garage.

I get it though; I'm not a huge fan of the way most super cars look and I find it incredibly boring that they are all most want to race and buy. I much prefer Muscle and Sports Classics, of which I have a vast collection, but getting a random player to join a Sports Classic race is often a task, if not downright impossible at times.

Because epeen. I own no supers. All my cars were off the street or free.

"I'm purposefully not owning any super or high-end car" is just a different kind of epeen.

Once you fully upgrade that ride, its a little beast, not the fastest by far but great for stunting.

It doesnt make sense to me, ppl are willing to spend almost 3 million on a car that looks like spaceship just cause its fast while crapping on cars like the 811 cause it isnt the best perfomance. Theres more to a car than its speed. Why are ppl fawning over how fast a vehicle is instead of how it looks?

winning races, getting world records. Simple.

Offtopic but does RE-7B curb boost all the time, even on a smooth road?

Not all the time, but you can hear it :p

Sometimes it's all the time for me. It goes up to 180 mph that way!

I didn't spend 3 million to get the fastest car.... I spent 6.
For both of my characters.

Why ? One because I really like the car (aesthetically first), and two (the second one) to stay competitive in races.
Because when it comes to races, I'm serious business :D
Even tho it was painful to buy the second one, I had no other competitive (anymore) car with this character.

The thing is, performance is just a tool, a plus, of the car.
My main criteria to decide if I buy a car or not isn't performance, it's how I like its look, its feel, how I see it.

I still own a Bullet GT, an Asea, or even a Prairie and still like to drive them equally.

I love speed, but there comes a point when speed/acceleration isn't everything. I some of the latest cars because they handle relatively well.

Fun fact: I hit 156.xxmph in the RE-7B doing the high speed challenge and the speedometer seems accurate

Theres more to a car than its speed. Why are ppl fawning over how fast a vehicle is instead of how it looks?

It's not about top speed, it's about fastest around a track, so the car that has the right balance of high top speed, fast around the corners, and high acceleration is the one people want.

- The high top speed makes you fast on a straight.

- The ability to keep high speeds in corners is essential, it allows you to maintain a higher speed coming out of it and thus require less time to accelerate back towards top speed, the key component of this is traction.

- A high Acceleration is key not just to go from standstill to max speed at the start, but more importantly go from slow in the corners to near or at top speed on the straights.

Now these things don't play as much a role in racing when things like Catch Up and Slipstream are on in GTAO, but if you turn those off it will make a world of difference, especially Catch Up, Catch up doesn't boost the guys in the back, it slows down the guys in the front, the bigger your lead, the more you are slowed, that's why it's not strange to see that the last or 2nd or 3rd last car has the fastest lap, because the leader's car basically got a power downgrade and theirs run at full speed.

But if you enjoy racing, and those are two are turned off, having the fastest car around a track is something you need to have to be able to compete, case in point the current added cars around Broughy's Cutting Corners GP test track:

1. RE-7B: 0:57.724

2. ETR1: 0:59.158

3. Tyrus: 0:59.357

4. X80 Proto: 1:01.226

Or the old top 3 Supers before the X80 came along:

5. T20: 1:01.894

6. Osiris: 1:02.061

7. Zentorno: 1:02.069

The RE-7B is 1,4 seconds faster around that particular track then the ETR1, it's 3,5 seconds faster around that track then the X80 Proto, and 4,2 seconds faster then the T20 around that track.

Now a second might not seem much, but in racing it's a huge gap, try it out, imagine a race car passes in front of you at really high speed, say 125mph/200kmh, then say the words "twenty one" at a normal speaking speed (so you're not blurting it out fast), the time it takes you to say that is about a second, so that already a big gap (remember these things are speeding by at around 125mph/200kmh), now just count up "twenty one, twenty two, twenty three, twenty four" that's the gap between the RE-7B and the T20, now that's what you are losing per lap, if you do as some of the serious racers and run races of at least 10 laps, then that becomes a huge gap very quickly, that's why having the fastest car around a track is so essential to racers so they can keep up and compete.

Because cars are expensive... why waste money you dont have on crap. Non-modders/vehicle dupers, people who dont spend alot of time playing, and people who dont buy shark cards dont have the millions and billions some of you have. We want to make a good investment. Why NOT want the fastest of each class?

I bought all (new) supercars and then some... Stats mean nothing to me, as the limitating factor in all my races is me (and folks ramming you off track). I just like to go to my (supercar)garage, see they're all there and I can just pick what I want for whatever reason... I'll never own anything like them IRL,but in GTA I 'own' them all, ehhe...

And from a psychological stand of view... People like to have the best/better thing than their 'competition'... It's human nature... It's like that IRL and it's the same online... Just look at for instance smartphones... They buy these expensive, state of the art minicomputers, but the moment when their friend/neighbor,... has a newer version: Their own smartphone is obsolete and needs to be replaced, although most of the time the performance/features of the thing have barely been touched, nor would they be touched for the next few years, if they would have kept it... So, IMHO, it's all about 'I own the BEST of the best' aka... I own it, thus I'm better than you... :-) Along those lines...

All comes down to preference - I may own and drive an RE-7B in freemode, but its insanely fast and by chance I also like the design of it - sold the X80 after I got the RE. I had the X80 for racing even though the cars design makes me puke. For people who race, it is all about performance. I own an RE for racing and daily driving, but I also still own my first Entity XF. Lovely looking car, but performance has dated. Haha, the days when every race start had 6 entities on it..

Well, fairly obvious answer, but i will chime in. Because it is the fastest car. The faster the car is, the more fun it is to drive, the faster you can get places, and the better your chances will be of out running other players.

Now me personally, i don't even like the "fast" cars. I get places faster on my motorcycles every time, or hell even my offroad vehicles. But it is pretty obvious why there is higher demand for faster vehicles and why rockstar capitalizes on this demand to inflate prices and sell shark cards. I'll just pretend you didn't ask.

You make a good point about the shark cards. As of late, all new supers have been above 1 million dollars, which is f*ckin' insane, but the norm now. Everyone is fine with it because of modded money, refer to: Last Gen Modded Accounts, PC Modders. But while thats all well and good for the ones with the money, it strangles and suffocates the new players, who have to grind heist after heist to get enough for a zentorno, nevermind a Tyrus or a Proto..

This game man :p

Put it this way OP, the X80 can almost outrun a Buzzard. (almost  ).

If they've got a long stretch and a head start through the city it can be tricky nailing them. Normally they panic, crash and cost me money, but if they can drive, they can make their escape in a way that T20s and Zentornos rarely could.

I think you're thread should have asked; 'Why are people so fascinated with the most expensive car'. I've never owned a T20 and I never will; the reason, because it's not the fastest car in the game. $2.2M price tag and a Banshee 900R will sh*t all over it.(in the right hands :colgate:).

To be fair.. the T20 will rape a Banshee around a track, just like it pretty much raped all supers (except the 3 new ones & in a few circumstances the X80) around race tracks.

If you never owned the T20 then mannnn you missed out on one of the most fun cars to race with around a circuit due to absolutely superior traction and braking, much like the elegy in the sports class.
