Anything to improve FPS on GTA IV

I know this is an old game but i want it to play on a frameable framerate. I have a bad GPU but gets me up to 17 fps. I did commandline, lowered all to low but i get 17 still and want to get it around 30 fps. What can I use to increase it?

the problem of IV, it's it's a game that was in advance of its time, i don't know how you say in english. when a thing was technically far much superior to its comtemporary. so you have a great game on all levels but that runs on a 32 bits basis, with only 3072 ram. with my i5, R9 290 4096 & 16 gigas i run between 30 and 60 fps

There's not really much you can do. Even running on a 1-week-old installation of Windows 10, with the latest drivers for my RX 480, and an i5-6500, my PC only runs it at 40-50 FPS on medium settings. However, I managed to get somewhat playable FPS (~25) on my laptop with a GT 630M and i7-2670QM by installing a mod. It basically reduces the draw distance like crazy, but it helps a lot with FPS. Unfortunately, I don't remember what the name of the mod was called, but I think I found it by Googling for "FPS mod" or something along those lines. Good luck.

This game is just super weird on PC. First time I played it, I had a GF 9800GT 512MB. Game was barely playable only on lowest settings 1024*768 or so.

BUT! After enabling highest-res texture (normally unavailable on cards with less than 1GB mem) it actually ran like a dream (relatively speaking) with up to 40 fps with highest settings in 1600*1200 or 1080p. Shadows were causing issues after playing for a while however so I usually disabled them.

Later I had to switch to a 6600GT 2GB and it runs like ass again, no matter the settings.

Simply put, IV is a crap shoot. On some Systems it runs like butter, on other Systems it runs like crud.

It's a bit of a hit or miss with GTA IV on PC. My PC runs it on high settings but can barely hold to 30 fps, instead it hovers around 18-25 fps. People with Intel CPUs should fare a bit better due to better single core performance, and GTA IV only uses about 3 cores (with the 4th core essentially doing nothing).

Im Getting 40 fps in he airport and 30-35 in the city, whilst it goes to as low as 25 in some parts of the city. That's because it is just a bad port friend. although my mods have gretly helped me improve my fps.

It was never optimised for pc, was a port of the console version and as already said its hit and miss how it runs on a particular pc. My pc specs are Intel Xeon quad core @ 2.5 ghz 10gb ram

and an Nvidia GTS 450 1gb which is a pretty lowly card these days. It runs GTAIV pretty well if I mess with the graphics settings, I also run GTA5 on this setup but GTA5 is an easier game to run.

Ah..even with 1.0.8.0 patch it stutter like hell when I turn the camera, not only the camera causing stuttering hehe...the worst it's that I did A LOT of PC optimization, put my core to max, unpack core, put windows in best performance, etc, etc and etc.In patch 1.0.4.0 it's okay but I want a new patch...but well I need to do with what I have,if only a REAL fix will be their....

Thankfully mine runs fine. With ENB its about 50 - 40 fps most of the time, 60fps when not too much activity at once on the screen, and if the activity gets to hectic, sometimes it dips to 30fps. Without ENB, I get 60fps mostly.

Nothing wrong with a bump if it is relevant.

@GTA Gamer #Poseidon Here is the link you need: https://www.gtagaming.com/gta-iv-optimizer-fps-boost-2014-zupper-f27662.html

If you are ever searching for anything that used to be hosted with gtagaming.com but the original link does not work, do not despair! I tried a simple Google search and found the above mod at a new location - I understand that the gtagaming web site recently did some pruning and basically became an archive, as the original web site was no longer tenable. Old files are therefore likely just at a new location.

I hope this helps - keep that Liberty City madness from ending!
