Good point! There probably has to be a different scenario. Let's make it a math problem: Doomguy and bear are on opposite sides of the map. Tommy and CJ are running from the bear. Will the Doomguy make it in time to chainsaw the bear before it eats Tommy and CJ?

The illusion is that Tommy is running faster because of his animation, his body posture looks like Superman. It's pretty epic, but not how real people run.

 

And I wouldn't say its fair to compare it to the latter games. Tommy might FEEL faster, but you have to remember the HD era uses an all-new physics engine where animations are prepared differently and naturally more "weight/heavy" for the sake of realism but also for interacting with the planes of the world.

 

 

In reality I think this is just a stupid question and doesn't need an entire thread, it seems like a joke. But then again, I don't blame you. All game forums need an excuse to have activity when the next title is 5+ years away.

This was the only issue i had with Tommy back in the day. I never really liked his running animation because looking back on claudes animation it was a lot better in III. But i soon ignored this. I mean how could i hate Tommy? lol. Luis on the other hand really annoyed the hell out of me when i first played it sometime in 2009-10 in those years. Apart from the Meh story I couldn't stop laughing at Luis's legs lmao. Just looking at his legs the way they moved just looked like he had to take a sh*t somewhere. Well, that's why you repeatedly tap the sprint button or complete level 12 of Paramedic for infinite sprint.

 

Sure, he may look absolutely ridiculous when running, but at least it's some form of foot speed unlike IV and V where it's s sluggish wobble that takes forever.
