I don't have the attention span of a goldfish, so I actually read your entire post, and I agree with you 100%.

Couple that with the likeability of a dead skunk and you're going places!

Yeah, though I'd say buff the payouts on everything.

But especially this - when each race is essentially turned into a roll of the dice (thanks a lot catch/lack of non-contact), then we could do with better payouts.

Quite frankly, this disgusting matchmaking system doesn't help either. Stuck spending ages looking for races, getting disconnected, lagging - there's some cleaning up to do in all areas.

But back on topic, definitely buff the racing payouts, along with everything else.

It's sad when you think about how great the races could really be. I know it's GTA and GTA promotes blah blah blah behavior; but really in races, all it does is turn angsty pre-teens into impetulant, blood-thirsty chimpanzees. Each race really is a roll of the dice. You can own first place for the majority of a race, only to have catch-up allow the two lucky children who managed to pull away from the retarded pack, slip stream each other until you've been overtaken into 3rd at the last few hundred feet. And even that isn't nearly as frustrating as having a complete a**hole pit you in the final stretch because he can't win it clean.

Catch up on, 16 player lobbies. I won 4 races in a row, and came 2nd in the fifth race.

Completely debunks what you're saying. All this whining about catch up is from sore losers who aren't good enough, period.

And I've had similar results. However, what I said happens. You can't negate that with your attitude or your "rock solid" statistics. Children, and yes they are mostly screaming pre-teens, pull pit maneuvers. Catch-up? It's a design element specifically to allow non-competitive players a chance to win. Nothing more.

Or a chance for players that got pitted to regain their place. My glass is half full, yours.. half empty.

Right, I can agree with that statement and I have absolutely no issues with that aspect of it. But whatever good it brings to the table, and given the nature of what constitutes the majority of race lobbies, IMO, does not make up for those crucial moments when some jag-off pulls a dirty move at the last possible moment. A jag-off that has absolutely no business being at the front of the pack and couldn't be without the aid of catch-up and/or slip-stream. That's bullsh*t no matter what side of the fence you're on. Incidentally, the various times that I wound up in race crew lobbies I experienced zero malicious ramming or pit maneuvers. There was the occasional bump and not that a few "accidents" didn't occur, but never intentional ones in place of real skills.

Yep... payouts have always been pretty sh*tty but the simple solution I find is just bet 10K on yourself every race...

If you believe in your ability in racing and win a lot more than lose, then you can grab an extra 4K per race from betting (2/5 odds)

Or if you're really lucky you can have some modded account noob that bets 10K on a bunch of people in a 30 player playlist, and then bet 10K on yourself... and win 180K in bets and 27K in race victory like I did..

That was a great race :)

What people don't realize is if payouts increase, prices of stuff will increase as well.

Prices of stuff seems to increase regardless

Rockstar really could do with a community manager... *cough* me.

Everything needs a payout buff really and it's the reason most game modes are unpopular, because it pays little compared to the time you put into it.

I only race for fun in GTA at this point...and I use the word "fun" pretty lightly. The physics just aren't there. Play a game like Forza Horizon (I don't expect GTA to be Forza so calm down) and you'll see that the cars have this thing called weight. When you collide with another racer they don't immediately go into a spin. If these cars had actual weight to them and didn't constantly feel like a feather light compass on wheels, some of this pit maneuver bullsh*t would subside. Rockstar just changed the bike physics in stunt races so you can't fall off, why not change the car physics in races to be less prone to spin outs and pitting?

As for payouts...I made my early fortune back when they were actually good. My brother and I used to love battling with each other on a particular point to point race that lasted about 90 seconds. Payout for first place was 7k. We didn't trade wins, we legit tried to beat the sh*t out of each other and by the end of our evenings we both managed pretty handsome sums of cash. But then Rockstar realized people wouldn't buy their shark cards with fair payouts like that and nerfed the ever loving sh*t out of everything. It's gotten better after that but unless you're constantly finishing in first, racing can be a real time suck. Some races can be 10, 15 or even 20 minutes depending on the settings and if you finish middle of the pack you're lucky to see 10k. You could to a sightseer, headhunter and fetch a CEO crate in that time frame.

At least we have premium races now, but I agree, and have always thought race payouts were too low.

I'd increase all race payouts by about 60%

Regardless of payout, it's fun! I feel so accomplished get 1st. Then again, I am a racer at heart, haha.

Community manager doesn't have anything to do with the game payouts just so you know =p

Some cars seem more prone to spin outs than others (T20 vs Entity). Either way I completely agree. Funny enough I was in an off-road stunt race and was pitted by the new dirt bike. I was in a trophy truck.

No Use For A Name

I won a 4 lap East Coast race last night in a lobby of about 10. $20000 for 10 minutes of racing - 12 if you count waiting for others to finish

I can make the same playing Los Santos Connection and it takes about 8 minutes.

Back to missions I go

Wanna make lots of extra money in races? Turn on destroy last place and if you win because every else exploded you get tons of money.

Happened to me earlier, was halfway through the second lap when the last guy exploded in a lobby of 12 people I think. I got 33k, second place got 8.9k

1.5 x the current payouts seems fair. That way you'd make $35-$50k for winning a longish race in a big lobby. Last place would probably still get $4k if they finished, it's not excessive when you factor in loading times, inviting players and actual racing. Probably $150 - $200k per hour for a winning player.
