My thoughts on this past month and the new cars....

I like to reflect and give my opinion on the updates now that we had the time to evaluate all the cars and the its releases.

 

-Reaper, Bestia and FMJ were pretty good cars even though they tried to promote the Reaper and the Bestia as the best cars in the game. Sort of forced us to buy those two cars first because they were heavily promoted and much cheaper than the unknown FMJ. The FMJ comes in at 1.75m versus the 1.595 from the Reaper, that we were fooled to buy first.

 

-A few short weeks later we got introduced to the x80, 811 and 7-70. This update gave us a record breaking car that cost 2.7 million. Perhaps the greatest car in GTA history or the most groundbreaking design in history. To later, give us and arguably the better car in the 811, and the last car being the 7-70. We were duped in having to spend more money and buying twice again.

 

-Cunning Stunts gave us 3 new race cars at an average price of 2 million for each. These 3 cars are heads and shoulders above any supercar in the game and that includes the recently released 2.7 million X80.....but...but...here's what R* wants us to believe....these race cars are a bargain at 2 million compared to the more expensive and inferior x80.

 

All in all...typical R* releases. Great update for racers but I will always remember the x80, 811 and 7-70 as cars that were released to drain our pockets. After the record breaking X80....they had the balls to release 3 race cars that are supposedly cheaper, still expensive to us, weeks after.

Granted people may be unhappy with it, but then if people had a little more patience and didn't have to have all the new toys the second they were released, we'd not have this problem. The last new car I purchased (that I still own) is the Osiris, and I got that when the T-20 came out (because I liked the look of the Osiris more).

 

I did upgrade my Banshee and Sultan, but sold them shortly after. I have my eye on one of these new super cars (when I have the money) and one of the upcoming cars (or two if the Buffalo is included within them). I'm not a collector, and I don't need the latest car to win a race; not that the latest cars always win races.

 

Per races, you'll often find (or rather, I have) if you race a circuit like Taxing, everyone will jump in their new fast cars that require minimal skill; just drive in a straight line with he odd bend on wide roads. Race the same people on street circuits and they suck. Most (if not all) of the races I've been in recently have been won by Masso's, Jesters, or Elegy's. Think I've seen a GT win, and a couple in the 9f. I've yet to actually see a single Seven-70 win a race, despite many of them being involved.

 

New cars don't guarantee race wins. I swear some people think they do, and so purchase them in kind, only to later realize that they need skill, and not a faster car, to win a race.

You're correct but it's not like all these cars were released on the same day and everyone jumped on them before reading opinions of others.

 

R* did space the releases long enough for everyone to buy one every week.

 

FMJ, Bestia and Reaper release were based on clever marketing of two inferior cars. The Reaper being a mere 200k less but was promoted as the premier car. People bought the Reaper, which I seldom see on the road, to buying the FMJ later. They are spending more than what was anticipated.

 

X80, 811 and 7-70 was released on an individual basis in a 3 week span.

 

Then you have the Cunning Stunt release that featured 2 million dollar cars weeks after the x80, 811 and 770.

 

Looks to me like there are people out there selling their previous purchases to fund the Big 3.

Bought the Reaper and FMJ.

Liked them both.

Bought the Bestia not expecting much, since it was based on the hatchback Ferrari.

Bestia ended up being my favorite car of the update, with the FMJ in close second.

 

X80 came out. Bought it just because everyone was toting them around.

Just figured I'd give it a go.

811 came out. I am a Porsche fanatic.

Best car ever.

Eventually sold the X80 because it didn't do it for me.

Finally, bought the Seven-70. What a let-down. Reskin of the Khamelion. Snore.

Sold the Seven-70.

 

As for the stunts update, I got a Tyrus and RE-7B. They're cool. Probably like the RE-7B more, it has really nice grip.

The Tyrus makes a mean noise and looks nice, but it seems mis-scaled and the rear end somehow looks less detailed than the front.

Still keeping it.

Bought an ETR1. The wheels look ridiculous, the front ones sit too far in the chassis and changing them out of stock makes it look worse.

Sold it.

 

I don't buy or keep cars based on performance. Just personal preference.

If they happen to be good racers, I'll use 'em.
