luisniko
I played the demo and purchased this game from PSN sale (and after using another discount coupon I have) for approx. USD9. lmao. I'm just glad I can make both Ryders to look comfortable to see in my eyes, SJW forbid. I also found that I could repaint armor and suit, which is nice. With those skills to build, this turns out to be the closest thing I can have a Borderlands with custom character. My character is using the stealth cloak thingy, then the virus thingy as second skill, and the third would be turret. I'm not really digging sci-fi theme, so I don't care for the story and still only playing this once in a while. I like scanning things up and mining though. Kiffster
the combat is great, yeah. I love how dodging and hovering works. brings a whole new dimension and new tactics to the battlefield. it also just works really well. it feels intuitive, it's fun, and it's useful. I especially love the ai this time around. You can't just stay in one spot or behind cover during a fight as they will try to sneak up behind or flank you. Love how I'm being forced to run and jump around and use the entire battlefield and all my powers/abilities. Can't even hide on a roof from one of those huge creatures because they'll follow you up there or wherever you go. Love it. In previous games it was relatively easy to just stay in one area and pick off your enemies one by one most of the time. Definitely an improvement. As for hanging out with your mates on the ship.. could have been better. I've noticed they run out of things to say pretty quickly and then stay that way until after some of the main missions. I mean I've completed Cora's (worst character in entire series btw) personal mission a while ago but she hasn't said anything new since then. I don't even talk to her anymore because there's no point. It's like there's nothing more to learn about her and I think I've still got a very long way to go in the game. If this continues it's gonna be a very quiet ship before I reach the end. I think this aspect of the game was done much better in the previous games. I like scanning things up and mining though.I don't. At the beginning scanning was a nice new gimmick, but after a couple of missions it just became super tedious. Same goes for mining and hunting for resources. Hate it. El Dildo
Matrelith
Squadmates running out of things to say fast has been common in all Mass Effect though. The worst offender would be Garrus in ME2. Unless you're romancing him, he'll have one talk with you before his loyalty mission and one after it. After that he's in the middle of some calibrations. I was actually surprised how much lines were recorded in Andromeda of the crew interacting with each other both on the ship and on mission. In my experience it felt like a lot more compared to the OT. Also Cora is bae. Edited August 15, 2017 by Matrelith El Dildo
chronic lumbago
Didn't like Cora from the moment I saw her. Sorry my turian friends, but Vetra wasn't a favorite either. Drek became one of my favorite characters in the series. Doesn't matter where I decided to take him, all of his interactions were simply amazing. From plot points to driving around on planets, he made me laugh and smile so many times. Not only that, he's a total badass in combat too. He's a grumpy old krogan done just right. Kiffster
Squadmates running out of things to say fast has been common in all Mass Effect though. Well they run out of things to say in all Bioware games eventually but never as early as in Andromeda. Nowadays whenever I talk to someone after a main mission they maybe have a short comment or two but other than that all topics are grayed out. Been that way for ages now. I feel like I haven't really learned that much about any of the characters. The chatter during missions or while cruising around in whatever the Mako's called in this game (I forgot) is still cool though. Just finished Liam's personal mission and gotta say it made me laugh a few times. Took Peebs along and her comments made it even better. Really enjoyed the mission overall. Liam's secondary movie night mission is really annoying though. As for the squadmates, I still say Cora is by far the worst. She's actually my least favourite character in any Bioware game (well she and that whiner Gil). Just incredibly boring. Liam is ok but a weird choice for a game like this. He's pretty useless. Drek and Peebee are the best with Jaal not far behind. All 3 of them are pretty hilarious at times. And yeah Drek is a beast in combat. By far the most useful on the battlefield. Matrelith
Haha, for me the title of worst squadmate still goes to Jacob. Nothing beats him in terms of dullness. Cora, along with Drack, are my favorite squadmates in Andromeda. Both can kick some serious ass when specced right and the three of you can have some really good synergy. Cora's romance is also really sweet, and I feel like her loyalty mission adds a lot to her character. If I had to rank Andromeda's squad, I'd probably go Cora/Drack > Jaal > Peebee > Vetra > Liam. Kiffster
Oh sorry Drack, not Drek. I blame fashion. I didn't mind Jacob actually. chronic lumbago
This sucks ass. Still can't get over the fact that we got a Mass Effect game without any DLC. There was so much potential, Bioware could've hired me to write their DLCs lol. I don't want to read about the quarian ark in a comic, I want to go out there as my Ryder and find them on the edge of the galaxy. They can't possibly f*ckup quarian faces so what's their problem? My itch to start a NG+ is finally starting to grow but I still have my hands full for the next month or two. Kiffster
Good job EA. Really hope this isn't the last we see of the series or the beginning of the end for Bioware. Have absolutely no interest in Anthem if it's online only. For now I'm still busy with Andromeda and loving it, so it's a huge disappointed that they're basically giving up. Wouldn't mind if they return the series to the Milky Way in the future though Actlikeyouknow

Kiffster
You mean a NN3? Yeah in the old days it was Obsidian that handled basically all sequels of Bioware games, but still it's been a while since we last saw anything other than ME or DA. People like myself have been begging for a Kotor3 for over a decade now. Still really looking forward to the next Dragon Age though which they're currently working on. Hopefully EA will stay out of it and just let Bioware do their thing. But knowing EA, they probably won't.

chronic lumbago
Not sure if it's confirmed to be MP only or not, but the dialogue itself shown at E3 was kinda generic and my interest dropped. I mentioned a few pages back that I'm afraid of Anthem's success. Bioware is sadly under EA's coat and we all know how EA isn't afraid to sacrifice studios, merge them or some sh*t for the sake of a more popular franchise. Anther can be great, might become the best co-op MP game out there but all I want is my dear Mass Effect to continue evolving. I hope they won't forget their large fanbase, even if Anthem gains a larger fanbase. It smells like it's going to be a microtransaction money machine with co-op as the main focus and anything story related will be pushed back a bit. Right now, everything ME has been pushed back and we won't see anything until after Dragon Age 4 and that game isn't even properly announced yet. El Dildo
ok so it took a couple weeks but I finished the game. final thoughts now that I've seen everything. the ending is really anticlimactic. and a let down. I thought I would get to fight the Archon not just fight my way to some switches to press some buttons and kill him during a cutscene. that was weak. combat is fun in general, but the only relatively challenging enemy in the entire game are those elite Kett captains or whatever who can hover and teleport around the battlefield. the Archon fight itself was a joke. as a completionist I tried to make sure I had done as many missions as possible to acquire help from other allies so there were like 5 extra AI teammates with me at the final battle. it just wasn't fun. speaking of completion-ism... there's a handful of quests that are now broken for me since finishing the game. when I was going through missions on planets, I did all of the most important sh/t first. so I did all of the missions with navpoints. specific objectives with distinct locations. this means I didn't do all of those Task missions yet. the ones without navpoints where you have to just stumble across the item you need. apparently if you settle the galaxy, unlock the Vaults, and raise all the Viability to 100% it bugs out these little Task quests. I've followed guides online and gone to exactly all of the locations that I need, but the objects to find or scan do not exist. they're simply not there. so that's kind of a big bug. you can't finish all of the side missions if you do them too late. but at the same time it's not a big deal because those quests only reward a small amount of XP or credits. both of which are useless now. and as far as I can tell that's the only bug I've encountered. no visual glitches. no broken quest chains. no broken voice acting. no missing NPCs. no ugly textures. no framerate drops. none of the stuff that people were complaining about on day-one. the only problems I had with gameplay were mistakes that I made. I love how much pussy Ryder gets in this game for my first playthrough I kept everything pretty vanilla and decided to get Cora naked. I kind of like her personality. but before Cora's final love scene I had also been working on every possible chance to flirt with anyone else who would flirt along [except for other dudes]. I took Vetra and Peebee as far as I could including any of the other NPCs that would let me. so before Cora and I hooked up I was zero-G banging Peebee in the escape pod. so after Cora's final love scene and the night we spend on the Tempest, I went back out and got laid with Keri the Asari reporter on the Nexus in her apartment and then I made out with that Angaran chick who is the curator of the Angara museum on Aya. and then we had movie night and Cora is all snuggled up against me, has no idea I'm cheating on her with 2 different species already lol... gg. As for hanging out with your mates on the ship.. could have been better. I've noticed they run out of things to say pretty quickly and then stay that way until after some of the main missions. If this continues it's gonna be a very quiet ship before I reach the end. I think this aspect of the game was done much better in the previous games. well I can't really argue with any of that. I just meant that it's nice to be back on the ship. chatting with crew or listening to them banter when we're out exploring another planet. otherwise you're right. they didn't write as much dialogue for each character as they had been for the previous games. Matrelith
The problem with Anthem so far is that we know very little about it, and the things we did see at E3 were heavily scripted. The dialogue between players reminded me of The Division's gameplay trailers from a few years back, showing us the ''real'' players talking to each other (even though in reality gamers don't talk like that to each other). What is a fact however is that it's being made by the OG Bioware who also worked on the original trilogy. They've made good games before, and I'd like to see them continue the trend. I'll reserve my judgement until we know more though. I'm a proponent for developers bringing out new (good) IPs instead of suffering from sequalitis, so seeing a new promising IP is always nice. And if working on Anthem means Mass Effect will take a backseat for now, I'm fine with that all things considered. After Andromeda's disappointment Bioware (in what shape or form) needs to take a hard look at where they want to go with the series from here. Kiffster
combat is fun in general, but the only relatively challenging enemy in the entire game are those elite Kett captains or whatever who can hover and teleport around the battlefield. Hate those c*nts. In my game they seem to be targeting me pretty much every time. I'm busy dealing with all the other dudes running around, next thing I know those bastards are right behind me and choking me with their death grips. No idea how to break free from that so I'm a goner every time that happens. Kills me every time. Even when I try to stay far away from them, I get distracted and bam. Death grip. But it's cool it's cool. Those guys are challenging for sure, but so too are those gigantic tripod things whatever they're called. And then there's that mechanical worm thing (I literally have no idea what anything is called in this game haha) on the sinkhole planet. Can I actually kill it? It jumped out right in front of me so I shot at it, but nothing happened. It just continued jumping around so I left. No idea what I should be doing there. the ones without navpoints where you have to just stumble across the item you need. I can't be bothered to try and complete those missions to be honest. I try to explore every planet thoroughly, but can't be arsed to search for a bunch of hidden items if there are no navpoints pointing the way. No patience for that. The lazily designed tasks with navpoints where you have to collect x amount of whatever scattered across every world are bad and tedious enough. No idea if those hidden object tasks are bugged for me too. Only found a couple of items by chance, not going back looking for the rest. Not even with a guide. And then as for romance, I've been trying to shag Peebee since the beginning. Hasn't happened yet but I click the flirt option pretty much every time I'm on the ship just in case something's changed. So far it's been the same response since the start. Haven't even tried with other characters, but I did get a chance to flirt with Drack just to see what would happen. I'll get Peebee eventually though. Guess I'll have to complete her missions first. Anyway, been playing for over a month now whenever I get the chance, so don't know when I'll reach the end. El Dildo
I've gone ahead and started a NG+ should be fun because I finished the first playthrough @ like level 60. pretty sure I'll reach 80+ before finishing the second run which means I can max out all of my crafted gear at level X. been saving up my best mods and augmentations to build myself some really sick weapons and armor. there's enough decisions and different relationships to really change up the experience a 2nd time. but after this - assuming there's no DLC - there probably won't be any reason to play a 3rd time. Bleh.I couldn't agree more. It's nice for those who are interested but as long as Mass Effect as a game series is "over", I really couldn't care less about a book. Mass Effect won't die because EA will find a way to push even more microtransactions in it and reboot the whole game from the ground up. On the other hand, the success of Anthem could influence ME's future. The quarian ark was meant to be dlc, I think we all saw that coming before they stopped working on Andromeda. I also ended up playing Andromeda 1,5 times before geting bored by it and uninstalling the game. Some things were kept vague to fill in future DLC's, like the Quarian arc and the Benefactor, but I honestly couldn't care less at this point. I have no idea what the future will hold for Mass Effect, but I won't expect anything substantial in the next five years. Just as good as the three books before it (ignoring the fourth one too ). Nexus Uprising gives you a greater understanding of the characters and how everything came to be. So far I'm just in love, the visuals and art direction are mesmerizing, it's a shame about the animations though..they can definitely dull the immersion. Knowing that there's still another potential 30 hours of gameplay makes me feel just so warm and fuzzy inside, about time a game I really liked was that long. P.S: the new uncharted worlds is the goat. Edited December 17, 2017 by Synthol Mister Pink and Actlikeyouknow
