Extra Extra! YouTubers Con Viewers into Gambling

Recommended Posts

So if anyone here isn't familiar with the YouTubers known as ProSyndicate and Tmartn, they make COD and CSGO content. I'm also assuming their average viewer is around age 12.

Regardless, they've just been exposed by another YouTuber named h3h3productions, wherein he explains how they deliberately mislead their viewers about a CSGO gambling site in which they owned. Both ProSyndicate and Tmartn are in total damage control mode, so I thought I'd share the video.

Greed knows no bounds.

If you're stupid enough to be conned by youtubers into giving them money then it's nobody fault but your own.

While the overall message is accurate, h3h3 makes several errors.

For one, you cannot trade skins for real currency via Valve nor steam. You do so via sites like OPSKINS or Bitskins.

Please, shut up.

It's obvious you are neither aware of the nature of CSGO skins nor what these guys did.

No one was being given money directly.

They are under scrutiny for advertising a gambling site they own without a disclaimer that their videos were actually adverts (a requirement by US law) due to them gambling on a site they own.

Several streamers and Pro players have also come under the microscope for potentially endorsing shady deals, particularly those under the employment of EnVyUs, which TMartn owns a stake of.

Right. I agree with that. It's not gambling in the sense that there's an immediate payout from a random draw. They're two separate events. However, owning the site and misleading others about it speaks volumes about just how scummy and greedy these guys are.

It's like if Howard Lederer went on raving about FullTilt poker and showing how much money he was making on every hand. f*cking charlatans.

There's been one running for the last day when the story first broke. I don't remember the link though.

Basically, any youtuber that makes COD content is only it it for money and stuff like that. Not surprised if they are making their viewers gamble...

"Guess what? There is some kinda secret weapon or maybe a new specialist character! I know! How do I know this? I don't, I'm making a video for the money...now...I'm gonna go get some kids to gamble"

The reason these scumbags aren't hiding in a country without extradition right now is because the world at large seems to ignore internet current events, especially gaming. Despite talking about billions of dollars changing hands.

The smoke screen will dissipate soon; your Pewdiepies and FineBrothers will eventually be invited onto your Fallon's and Kimmels - but currently it's as if GenX is too stubborn to quit pretending that the entire world of online celebrity just doesn't exist. So there's no true public accountability for these asshats.

What's truly amazing is how these guys galvanize their 12 year old armies into destroying the reputations and channels of the accusers. The YouTuber, Eight Thoughts, was exposing these cronies for months, especially with regards to their disingenuous reviews of games, and they started filing copyright strikes against his channel for "Cyber Bullying". Cyber-f*cking-bullying for speaking the truth? YouTube is honestly a meat grinder with less integrity than the porn industry.

Hats off to Eight Thoughts, H3H3 and Honor the Call for exposing these guys, because where there's smoke, there's fire. It's safe to assume that it's merely the tip of the iceberg when it comes to YouTube.

PewDiePie has been on Conan a few times already. Fallon doesn't seem like the kind of guy who is interested into videogames and gamers.

Sadly, even after this, they may not lose a large portion of subs.

But now that the BBC and Forbes have reported on it, it's at least getting a bit of mainstream attention, which also means it could spell legal trouble for them and/or lose sponsorships.

Isn't Syndicate the same guy who made a video crying about his nan passing away? Seems like that might have been fake then. What an utter c*nt if this is true, deliberately misleading his followers to "gamble" on the same site that he owns/co-owns which is just bullsh*t. Hope they go down big time.

smart....and im thinking that untill this is taken to court or the loophole is filled so far i see no ?

unless i am missing something ?

also i'm guesing since it is so vague they are just gonna wait till it all falls down, then make some deal involving money and leave it at that.

seems pretty shortsighted....just because one is greedy and does shaddy stuff does not mean he has no heart at all.

besides, money means power, power can change people....

hell, people can just like change over time even without being influenced a lot by money.

edit: ending of the vid though...some april fools joke ?! like what ?!

more edit: youtube and google and all that stuff have come a long way did they not ? :/

getting that sentiment again

Haha, I feel like I poked both sides here somehow.

Yes, some of these guys are starting to see some recognition in 'mainstream' media, it's true. But you can't deny that El_D's attitude - that the internet isn't the 'real world' is an enduring sentiment that wont die until digital natives take over. Until that happens, vultures like these guys have a very open playing field with a very gullible audience.

Real world people never seem to believe that the internet can produce real results until they see profit. How many parents refused to see little Jimmy's youtube channel as nothing but a waste of time and effort until they see the new threads, fancy car, etc? Or how many people see little Ricky's online homeschooled education as nothing but a worthless copout from a real education until he gets a job?

It reminds me of the 90's where people where baffled that say, Pokemon cards, could hold absurd value and that a few of them in your hand were worth more than someone else's car.
