Every piece of news that comes from Miami is interesting or unique, or to be more succinct batsh*t f*cking crazy.

Yeah but not in a way that contributes to pop culture.

Take this with a huge grain of salt lol.

Wouldn't it be more suitable to take it with a minuscule grain of salt?

Well maybe because we dont have a HD Universe Vice City? We have a HD Universe Los Santos and Liberty City so i guess Vice City would be next. Also it would fit for GTA 6 or in other word GTA VI or GTA VIce.

We have never had a modern day Vice City either, because the point of the setting and city was Miami Vice flavored 80's. That's why it's the least likely for a future game.

^ Guy above me is that a statement or a rhetorical question? -_ -

Same thing can be said with San Andreas, it was based on the 90's. But oh look that, they did it again with GTA 5. and omg look at that, modern day too.

That's because California still has a thriving popular culture. When is the last time you heard anything interesting about or unique to Miami?

Excuse me?

The mafia story is unique to New York.

The Eastern European immigrant story is unique to New York, being that New York is the most common port of harbor for Eastern European immigrants.

The LA riots and gangland warfare story of the 90's is unique to LA of the 90's.

The Hollywood/silicone age story of V is unique to modern day Los Angeles.

The 80's cocaine fueled criminal enterprise was unique to 1980's Miami.

What other significant part of American Culture and History is related to Miami that could be represented in a GTA game?

That's what I thought.

^ Why even bother?

Why does the place for the next Game have to special in some kind?

Also i think there is still some stuff going on in Miami aka Vice City not just only drugs.

Someone said its a retirement state, so i think the guys who live there have not just a few bucks in their bankaccount. So a place with full banks= perfect place for a bankrobbery.

Mafia story unique to new york? wow, okay. so Miami,Chicago don't have Mafia nor any organized crime, let alone italy. Also, based on your logic no other state of the U.S riots or has gang warfare, I mean... It's not like Chiraq even exist... Am I reading biased bullsh*t or just ignorance? I hope you know, EDM is not only in Miami, I mean f*ck sake, we have radio station in 5 that are dedicated to EDM. The people in this forum man.. seriously, never cease to amaze me.

You know how you can tell when someone is talking sh*t and don't know anything about a location? When they hear a couple news about pure coke in a location, and then only remember that said location for said thing, even after 20+ years. LMAO.

IF by some chance, Rockstar decides to add a new location for the GTA Roster, or just decides to replace a current location with a new one, I'll place my bets on it being Chicago.

Someone said its a retirement state, so i think the guys who live there have not just a few bucks in their bankaccount. So a place with full banks= perfect place for a bankrobbery.

GTA V was Michael's story, and Michael's story was about Hollywood, mid-life crisis, spoiled millennial children, unfaithful materialistic wife, etc. The overall story was about existential crises, it's something that all 3 main characters face: Gang life is dull and leading nowhere, unlike gangs before that actually tried to move up the ladder, gangs in modern LS just sit around getting high and killing each other, and Franklin wants more but fears he's trapped. Trevor is a man with no purpose, trying to justify his insanity with moments of twisted compassion. Michael is a career criminal, a master thief who wants nothing else other than to BE a thief, and retiring has left him without purpose.

Anyway, since GTA III the location hasn't been just merely a setting; it's been a character. The original Liberty City was a sleezy, grimy place where you could really feel like criminals ruled. Vice City was a neon coke binge. San Andreas was a sun drenched modern wasteland where people resort to desperate things to make a dishonest living.

IV's Liberty City was a land of promise that turned out to be a lie. A place you go to escape the third world hell you've been living in, because of the promise of the American Dream, only to learn quickly that the odds are stacked against you and the only way up is to cheat and steal.

V's San Andreas is as artificial as real like California, full of people who have made characters out of themselves instead of having genuine human emotions. Selfish, narcissistic, spoiled, aimless people who are desperate for attention and fortune. Ironically, Trevor is the only genuine person in that entire story - the only person who doesn't betray his friends. And he's f*cking insane.

What could a modern Vice City tell? What role does modern day Miami play in American pop culture? None. Nothing. It's just another place that may have some rich people living in it.

You could set GTA VI in just about ANY state and tell the same story, and that is exactly why a modern day Vice City just doesn't make sense. The story has to RELY on the unique aspects of the location, or the location doesn't matter.

I think you're overthinking things now.. lol so 80's, vice city was only known for the small portion of the Colombian, Cuban pure coke trade? Seems legit. *facepalm* It's not like modern day Miami is one of the most beautiful citys of America, not like it could be called Hollywood cousin... Not like there couldn't be any cool story about a third world immigrant who wants to live a dream... Not about the amazing party vibe there is, not about the random crazy gang violence of south florida, not about the street race life style... Do I need to keep going on? sh*t, it's not like Rockstar is a highly paid studio that has story writers.. oh wait

Cut the bullsh*t. Stop being a prick.

The Mafia story is unique to New York. I didn't say it was EXCLUSIVE to New York.

New York was the birthplace of the American Mob. Mafia is synonymous with New York. Yes, the Mafia spread, as most things do, but when you think Mafia, you think New York. Any American History student would agree.

I'm not dogging on Miami, I'm sure it's a great place to live and it was sure beautiful when I was down there.. but like I said, there's nothing, apart from Palms and beaches, about modern day Miami that stands out from anywhere else in this country.

I think you're overthinking things now.. lol so 80's, vice city was only known for the small portion of the Colombian, Cuban pure coke trade? Seems legit. *facepalm*

Listen, genius, just because I say some place is known for something doesn't mean it's ONLY known for that.

In the 80's, Miami was the main hub for the Columbian Coke Trade. No other place in the country was notorious for that distinction.

I'm not so dismissive of softsecrets.

For one, people say he's just listing what everyone on this forum wants, but if that's the case, he's left out some major ones. The hunter (which people are still on about 3 years later), a customization-based update (there's a big thread calling for that here), a lot of people want vice city too (which he's saying is years away), etc.

Maybe the biggest thing is that I don't really care if I turn out to have believed a hoax. Being wrong about a leaker on a video game forum i hardly going to kill me.

I want to believe anyway.

Edit: Also, he's apparently waited 3 years to post this. If he's trolling, that's a lot of effort to go to.

I think Chicago can make a good basis for a GTA city, considering it's rife with political corruption and street violence is at all time high compared to every other city. But in all honesty, I doubt we will get a new city altogether.
