Operation Paperclip

Freemode really needs some innovation. The entire game, even adversary modes, feels too much like a bunch of M-rated Nintendo party games.

Where's the sense of organized crime? Of connection, to anything, and progression? What exactly is a crew for? GTA Online really is just a huge lake - but only 2 feet deep in every direction. Shallow as sh*t. It's an industry-leading magnet for the most braindead gamer stereotypes.

I can see it for what it is (thankfully), but unfortunately it is only unique in how much potential it has squandered in terms of actual innovation. It has catered to the lowest common denominator of gamer - and has succeeded enormously in this regard. The general and casual GTA Online community makes Call of Duty gamers look like the Bilderberg Group.

I only pop in here every so often because I think surely R* will do something interesting and challenge its player base. Until then I will keep right on playing competitive and objective based games, that are regulated by real progression and effective anti-cheat measures.

Imagine what San Fierro and Las Venturas would look like in updated and HD and made larger...

All that desert to explore and brand new long roads to cruise on... Just me, my Nightshade and two whole new lands to enjoy.

I see what you mean, but I have to disagree in terms of "progression", realy all GTA is supposed to be is a giant sandbox to do stuff in, things like Free Mode Events or VIP Missions and Challenges, are a step in the right direction and add a TON to the Free Mode gameplay in my opinion, those are, objective based chaos.

Progression is something a lot of people demand, but I truly hate it and I don't think it has any place in GTA Online, stuff like Levels, Skills or Masteries, simply don't belong into an ultimate Open World sandbox like GTA.

I also disagree about it catering to the "lowest common denominator of gamer", I play competetive games like CS:GO for example, yet I enjoy GTA Onlines Free Mode experience a great deal.

It is organized chaos and if everyone sticks to the rules and people don't troll/hack or cheat, it would work brilliant.

Unfortunately most people tend to troll/hack or cheat in some way in order to ruin others fun, some days I will log onto GTA Online and have the best gaming experience I have ever had...and some days it will be my WORST gaming experience.

A big bummer however is that R* STILL releases Jobs and Game Modes...instead of focusing on the Free Mode experience...instead of releasing 20 Adversary Modes they could have simply released 5 new Free Mode Events and 5 new VIP Missions/Challenges, stuff like Adversary Modes, Jobs, LTS etc. simply don't work in GTA Online in my opinion...they have loading screens, disconnects and HUGE Matchmaking problems...

They could f*ck all those connection burdens and simply keep it to ONE ultimate open world experience...I hope at some point they will realize that and drop everything else.

I agree with your terms of progression, as above. Progression, a la Battlefield for example, wouldn't be such a great idea when applied to the GTA environment. RPG/MMOesque character progression elements - no thanks to that as well.

However - the progression I was prompting others to think about (by my series of ?'s) would involve a much larger, group oriented (crew) scale of progression.

What if Freemode turned into this instead: a Freemode Lobby consisting of all properties, businesses, Import/Export, trafficking routes, associated A.I. gangs, etc, that our Crew had accumulated to date by facing off vs other competing crews.

Then when ready, say 4-12 people from our crew join, we start matchmaking and prepare for an invading crew. This would then kick off some 20, 30, or 45 min long match where we fight to keep our interests or expand them by taking from our new competitor.

^Something like this.^ Doesn't have to be this, and certainly shouldn't mimic some other franchises' ideas of 'progression' either. Just something though - something that fits the organized crime motif and sets the game truly apart from others, and especially other open world games.

I absolutely agree,

I realy hope R* expands on the Organization idea to be something similar to that there is a lot more potential for Free Mode and I feel and hope R* has just scratched the surface...

Funmw2 found VIP Menu options in the files, I hope that is an indicator that this system will be expanded, maybe not with Crews, but featuring businesses, gang turfs etc.

I hope R* didn't lost their way with The Benz leaving the company back in 2014...

Right. The game should be about the chaos resulting from firefights in the streets. But I'm glad you agree that chaos should be focused into something that maintains the GTA standard, while creating a new and bigger challenge for players (and crews).

Where Rockstar have gone wrong is failing to realise that their criminal RPG is actually like a MMO with a joke rank/unlocks/rewards system.

Yes, I'm sure they completely failed to realize what they were making as they made it. Your infinite wisdom shines through yet again.

One of this games main problem if anything is the reward system. thats what this game needs because nothing is rewarded when it comes to DLC content and if it is its not worth sh*t but maybe average money payouts. there are barely any unlockable DLC items other than typical cars and apparel which like i said barely have any value except for a few supers. they fail to realize this game is turning into Midnight Club Los Santos: Benny's Edition.

If this thread get's closed i will officially blame xenox. None of the complaints, or "hate" is half as bad as him constantly over posting arguments and stating his opinions as facts. REALLY starting to seem like another Shadow level troll apologist..

Ongoing commentary about other posters, no matter who they are or what they post, is not helping the situation. Just try to stay on topic and if someone is starting a lot of crap, report them.

I am neither a troll or apologist. Don't label what you don't understand. I love the game as is. Warts and all.

First of all, thank you so much to Kirsty for unlocking this topic!

So that's what I had to add:

As you may or may not know, qabeta was updated today. As Yan says, this doesn't 100% mean that a new update will pop up in the next few days, but it's a good indicator that something may be coming soon.

qabeta was not updated for a while now, and the fact that it has been updated now is pretty suspicious.

If people remember correctly, back in the days (or maybe not that far away...) when qabeta2 was updated it meant that a new update was right around the corner. But now qabeta2 is constantly updated se we can't draw conclusions.

Correct.

I would also add that, back when they were not updating qabeta2 daily, an update to it would mean that a GTA Online update was coming 1-2 week(s) later. With qabeta, we could assume that the update is farther than 1-2 week(s). BUT that's of course if they didn't change the way they do things, which they might have since they now update qabeta2 so often.

And thanks Kirsty. :)

well there was that possible hint that a rockstar streamer let slip on one of their streams a couple days ago that another forum member informed us about. the guy in question said to one of the viewers to be sure to check in on their gta stream may 20th. could mean nothing but at desperate times like these it could be something still. credit goes to the member who found out about this. let yourself be known :)

What I want:

-Functioning Casino

-Mini-games

(think San Andreas iconic bee game, pool, darting, drinking game)

-More poses

-Cellphone radio

-Neval piercing / piercings in general

-Stripper boots + jeans in boots + ripped jeans (like, c'mon now, it's time bblink.gif)

-Longer hair gobaby.gif

-A functioning mirror in the dressing room

-An expansion on the map legend.gif

That's it, love y'all for unlocking this class.gif

As I predicted previously, May 17th may be a fitting date.

I assume next week the leftover Adversary Mode maps will be released.

Well, on one of the last livestreams (if the not THE last livestream), British Voice (guy from Rockstar) said there's a livestream on May 20th (

), and then when asked what is going to happen on that livestream, he kinda didn't know what to say (maybe realised he should not have said that?), and just answered with a joke (
) . Could be nothing, but I find it weird that he didn't know what to answer, that never happens usually.

I don't know, a DLC on or around May 17th would make sense I guess (no, this is not an information, just a wild guess).

The guy with the british voice is Lazlow btw.

And I am sure he just mentioned a regular Livestream schedule as often so, previously.

I don't think the Livestream is directly linked to a DLC.

However if on May 20th another Livestream is planned it is very likely that either an Event Week releases again, OR that they have an actual DLC on May 17.

Though at the moment everything is possible, so we might wait it out.
