What would it be like if we got a 2-3 square mile vacation island to fly to with a casino, more high end lots and apartments and smuggling jobs? Wouldn't that be cool?

Yes! Just like it happened for TDU2 when they added the casino DLC

there is not going to be any more content in GTAO. all the mods and money cheaters have ruined it for that last remaining players its not profitable anymore (in fact for a long time) the reason Rockstar give us these small updates are to get the player base some how intact to the next game release, hoping to transfer those players over to the new game.

Right, it only has about 8 million unique players a week and online has only brought in half a billion dollars since launch. They should definitely scrap it and try again!

That has no bearing on whether or not it failed, to me. What were their goals? That's a more accurate determination because realistically, GTAO would've been a huge success by the standards of almost any other game unless they made it nothing but missions where your player cleans an outhouse; it had beyond enormous brand equity going in.

They are a company. Their goals are generally to be successful financially. They are a publicly traded company so they have a legal financial responsibility to their shareholders to do so.

To do so they need to generate income and retain players so that the revenue stream continues. The player base of 8 million players and the revenue generated of 500 million dollars tells us that the game is doing exactly what it is designed to do, and that is to make money for the company to fund further development of other games so that the company can continue on into the future. The game is doing exactly that and much better than many online games out there.

8 million players tells us that the game is good enough to keep that many players coming back. 8 million players would absolutely not be coming back if it was a game about outhouse cleaning.

Also, as far as GTA Online goes, there will be no new game. Rockstar has stated early on that the very reason it is named GTA Online and not GTA V Online is that it will exist independently of the single player games and GTAO will be updated as time goes on, instead of being replaced by a new version of GTAO when the next games come out it will be expanded with new content. Then GTA VI or whatever next game comes out we will still be playing GTAO, just with the map and new assets from the next GTA in it. We will not get a new one.

The next update is speculated to be coming May 3 because the newest Adversary Mode, In and Out, needs an update to be released. Other than that, we have basically nothing.

i agree with you in everything but on 1 thing...

i dont think gtao would be set in los santos forever, they would make it so wr can travel between los santos and wherever is the location of the next gta, im sure if they add dedicated servers, doing so shouldnt be an issue.

heck they can make it so returning players would have access to both cities, while the new players would only have access to the new location, they can set special events that take place in los santos to motivate people to buy a copy of gta V so they can unlock the los santos map or they can sell a pass that would give you access to the map.

without doubt, gtao is here to stay and would have a great impact in the future of the franchise.

I can see them releasing GTA VI (or whatever the next game is to be called) with a new GTA Online. The time between each game allows for Rockstar to add more and more in depth features and better textures/visuals and mechanics. I am no expert but it seems that would be a LARGE download and wouldn't be as conventional.

Perhaps with how consoles are shifting to a digital base, GTA Online will become its own game that you launch and you start in city A (lets say Los Santos) and then go to the airport and buy a ticket to Vice City and the game then loads the assets of GTA VI in the background to bring you to the new city?

This, a thousand times this. Also, GTA:O can still continue when GTA Next comes, they just add the map to GTA:O. doesn't have to have connecting landmasses, though I'd love to have connecting landmasses for driving purposes. Would it be an extreme overhaul? Yes, yes it would, but Runescape just proved that developers can update an existing game to a newer engine and better textures, so it isn't inconceivable for it to continue.

They won't release anything until they have made a new advesary mode... that's the reason they're releasing anything, adversary modes.

No, really. XD

Thanks for the bullsh*t, much apreciated.

But...hey what's that?

Facts and graphs that disprove what you just said entirely?

Like, for example Zelnik announcing GTA Onlines best month in December, and that GTA Online made 500 Million Dollars in revenue.

But I guess all those numbers must simply be wrong and YOU you alone are the entire source of everything R* related.
