When it comes to graphics, the level of details exhibited with characters, the environment and a variety of other visual enhancements which GTA has been the most impressive to you, and why ?!?

Has the graphics of that GTA aged well and still good to play, or starting to look dated and bad?

If possible, please share your expectations in terms of improvements and changes to the graphics, and visual style, for future GTA(s). :)

GTA IV. Still looks great to this day IMO. At the time it was one of the best looking open world games I had ever played. Hard to think it's 8 years old. GTA V looks great too (obviously), but i'm basing my opinion on how I perceived the graphics at the time and now.

While Grand Theft Auto V is not my favorite game in the series, I will admit that graphic wise, it is the best looking game in the franchise. The reason being is due to the level of detail on the environment, character models, and specially the vehicle models. The vehicle models have reflections for crying out loud! However, for creative graphic art style, that reward would go to Chinatown Wars, simply for incorporating cell shaded graphics.

Now to move on to the next segment, how dated are the graphics of past GTA games. For me, the way graphics are considered dated depends on the graphic style used. For example, something like The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, or any other 2D game of the Super Nintendo/Genesis Era holds up due to their style. The Wind Waker holds up due to its cell shading style, and most 2D games of the fourth generation of consoles hold up due to simply being 2D and sprite animated. What I'm trying to say is that basically any game that attempts to create realistic-looking visuals will inevitably become dated. Take the original Gran Turismo for example. When that game first released, it was praised for its realistic looking visuals. Now compare that game's visuals to something like Project Cars. See what I mean? Anyways, moving on.

Since I already somewhat covered graphing aging, I think I will state that there are certain games in the GTA series that have aged not so well, graphics wise. One example would be all of the 3D Era games. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the 3D Era games, but I must admit that by comparison to the HD Era GTA games, the 3D Era visuals look dated. However, not all GTA games suffer this. In my opinion, the graphics of the original Grand Theft Auto, and Grand Theft Auto 2 still hold up somewhat today. The reason being is due to mainly using a 2D graphical style. With that style, not much can really be seen as dated, I mean it can, but not in the sense of 3D models, textures, or any of that sort. However, I can understand why people will disagree with this. All right, time to move on the final point.

I want to state that there is really no suggestion I can give to improve the graphics for the next Grand Theft Auto title. For me, the graphics will just improve as technology goes. One more thing, I DO NOT base the quality of games based on the graphics. I prefer gameplay over graphics, but I will comment my opinion on the graphics. That is all.

Huh, this is also something I wanted to mention in the other IV discussion...

V has the best graphics on a technical level (texture resolution, dynamic range, lighting, effects, shadow etc.) but doesn't really feel like a real place to me, more like a nice store front. Look, but don't touch.

IV as well as Watch_Dogs for example are much more blurry, less contrasty, not as technically competent overall (now I'm talking PS3 here but from what I've seen it seems true for the PC master race as well) but feel like real places. Like you could just stretch out your hand and feel the building, or stop and talk to people.

So it's kinda... Both I guess?

BTW my favorite place in LS is the market next to the textile factory. That's a really lively place, too bad it's just one tiny spot. LC is like that small place stretched out to a whole city.

It is obviously GTA V, above all if we're talking about the enhanced version, although I admit that I loved the reflections in IV and how the headlights looked in cars, they seem better than in the LG version of V, but imo that's the only way IV had superior graphics than V

TBOGT. Hard to believe those fantastic graphics were made 7 years ago.

Currently GTA 5 obviously, but the graphics that impressed me the most when I first played the game were VC graphics (before that I only played SNES and PS1 games).

While GTA V does have the best graphics engine in the series, the graphics of GTA 2 are yet another thing about 2 that's magical to me.

III, for that time period. V isn't impressive because in 2013 there were games with MUCH better graphics.

GTA IV's graphics continue to amuse me, especially the Liberty City ocean water. If I could have a sip of the water, my life would be complete. :beerhat:

Also, I like the cutscenes in Chinatown Wars. The art style and the subtitles remind me of comic books.

And last but not least, Vice City Stories' atmosphere is great. I really like the sunsets and the neon lighting in the game.

In my opinion TBOGT has best graphics in GTA IV Era. Slight better than IV. GTA V has best graphics but not for Video Gaming.

IV looked the best for its time, not just in graphics, but in effects and physics, so far ahead of its time. And the game still looks objectively good.

V looks amazing for a last gen game, only the city area was impressive, especially the beach and ocean, and the rain. Graphics only though, visual effects like the explosions are kinda sh*t.

GTA V without a doubt, that's sort of a silly question. The leap from IV to V within the same console generation was mind blowing - when GTA IV came out, it was hard to imagine how it could look any better, yet V just blew it right out of the water. Play the two games back to back (on previous gen of course) and it's hard to deny the enormous leap.

GTA V, clearly.

I mean, you go down to the beach. The water only gets the bit of the clothes that it touched wet, when you go for a swim, you get out and drip water everywhere. You also leave footprints in the sand. The waving banners on the beach actually have physics, and you can even go up to them and push them around. So then you go to Richards Majestic studios, and there are people dressed as aliens and astronauts, getting ready for another take on a film they're making, you even see artificial lighting rigs around the place. And then you go to the chinese theater, and what a time to arrive, as you see a crowd of people on the sidewalk that's paved with accurate golden hollywood star sign paving, and those people are all holding up their smartphones, taking a picture of a guy in a republican space ranger costume. You shoot a gas tank, and instead of immediately erupting in flames, the car leaves a gas trail, which you can ignite in order to cause fire damage to the car itself or even to other cars and pedestrians. If there are any peds stupid enough to hang around after you start shooting. You head to the forest, there's deer and bunny rabbits and coyotes. There are cougars in the mountains and bikers on top of mount chiliad. The rural desert looks like a rural desert, and the pedestrians there are accurate. In fact, there are different pedestrians for all areas of town. Gangsters in the poorer areas of los santos, and business men and more contemporary people near the business districts of downtown. Up in the hills, you have the rich folk who drive sports cars and get into arguments about golf. There's even a dog park in the hills that has people playing with their dogs, and you can take your dog there as franklin.

This was all done on the Xbox 360 and PS3. That is amazing.

when it comes to last gen, IV was better, since it was made in 2008 and had better sky and trees and saturation/color, GTA V on last gen had unrealistic vegetation compared to IV and the screen was grey.

but GTA V on next gen is better than all

its just my opinion

Hi Friends! Which Game's Graphics Did You Like The Most? I like TBOGT Graphs. In my opinion, it's graphics is best for video gaming. Not 100 percent origional looks like V and a bit different looks make it cool. Secondly I go for VCS Graphs. Looks good and bright. VCS Palms are too cool, you know! At third I go for IV. GTA IV really shocked me. When I bought it I thought that it's graphs would be similar to that of VCS or SA. But I was totally wrong. Looks Like Ice! What's your choice?
