It depends on what you mean by die. If you're talking about the game being empty and barely played, then not in a long time. If you're talking about content and updates, then probably by the time GTA VI is released.

 

That's the most likely and plausible possibility. But then again, only time will tell.

I agree with chara, gta online is about to die !. I got the feeling that rockstar is not making the game attractive enough for mature players and fans of the rp mode. Just a few small adjustments would have made the game awesome. Its a 18+ rated game but they only release dlc's that in my opinion isn't ment for the mature players and rp fans !! No doubt.

If you want to see what GTA:O will be when GTA VI will release and players will move on to that and GTA Online V2...

 

-Join a public lobby on a last gen console.

-See people crowded around a particular area.

-Look at the player list.

-See the clan tag "Modz"

-Get money dropped on you (rarely) and then exploded to eternity until you are forced to leave.

-Join another server.

-Repeat from step 1 till you die of boredom.

 

I hope it never happens.

It died back in 2013 when they released first updates that didn't rank lock the contents/weapons and allowed multiple glitches to ruin the entire economy and original premise.

 

Overall its not the game they originally marketed it to be, I didn't realize this fully until they released the Hunt the Beast freemode game! thats when I think it died for me.Thought it might be a strange blip ! then they released Power play. f*ck this ..I checked out emotionally from this game last week. Such a damn shame! could of been an amazing mmo/rpg crime simulator. I see it now as an amazing but floored playground for some fun with gaming friends.

Didn't Rockstar already say it was going to continue to make content for this game? Why do people keep making "When will GTA 5 officially die" threads? It's a great game and I think it still has a ton of life left.

GTA Online will never die. Only noobs that kick people from lobbies so they can deliver their goods want GTAO to die. If you don't like it, don't play it. If you're not tough enough, don't play it. Look at the GTA Online habitat. Crews, social clubs, friends that have met and have been playing together since the game dropped 3 years ago. GTA 5 seems to have taken over Instagram, as it has become the main trash talking medium. I met a couple people for GTAO here in Orange Country that I have been playing with. We planned a trip to Los Angeles where the game was actually created. These things just don't die!

Or they could continue being successful because they'll still have exponential raise in profits from shark card sales, idk.

It'll be on life support for me when the remastered Skyrim and The Last Guardian hit PS4 in late October. Instead of playing GTAO 5+ days a week, it'll probably drop to 1 or 2 days.

Sh*t on people? Dude grow some skill and make some friends and won't have a problem delivering cargo to it''s destination. Quit being a b*tch by kicking everyone out the lobby and fight them when they attack you. Yes you will get dominated when you try to do this by yourself. That's what makes the game fun, knowing you can assemble a team that is the strongest in the lobby.

It will die when Rockstar feels like killing it. Folks still play GTA IV online & GTAO is superior to it in nearly every way. So it will take decades for it to be abandoned. Unless of course Rockstar shuts it down.

The exception being that Skyrim and all its faults on PS3 is still one of my all-time favorite games. I can't wait to get my hands on an up-res, bug-free version with mods to play with. I've played 1300 hours on Skyrim and will easily do so again with new content and the ability to finish the Dragonborn DLC. And Team Ico has already produced 2 games that I love, so I've no doubt that TLG will get quite a bit of my gameplay time, as well. Not everyone is a hypocrite.

Being thrown in the middle of a heavily unbalanced war isn't fun, it's pure anarchistic chaos where one side can lose their entire f*cking bank account while the other can get away scratch free, not even a homing launcher can stop the jets you dismiss as harmless. How can I fight an asshole fairly if I'm only willing to use bullets so that I don't harm my merchandise, yet he can use explosives to instantly ruin my business and win the brawl?

 

I suggest that you grow common sense, this gamemode isn't as easy as you suggest it to be, and it never will be until Rockstar takes their heads out of their own asses.
