At the start of gta online, I used to see warnings of becoming a bad sport if I left a lobby, I used to think that it was stupid, but jesus christ, I haven't been able to get through the power play playlist once without the majority of the enemy team leaving.

The thing is most of the people that leave are the ones that f*ck up lobbies themselves, hosts putting forced on, making uneven teams, I had one guy that changed to the other team in a 2v2 power play so they were all against me, they were all under 100 and I'm a 410, they quit halfway through the second round because they'd killed me like twice.

I see why rockstar tried to punish people who leave, but they need to reinforce it better at this point.

Because jobs like DMs and Power Play look like this 90% of the time.

How would you like them to do this assuming that you would like them to?

I'm mostly in free mode anyway, so this isn't as big an issue to me as it used to be. But it is annoying, and could do with cutting down.

First of all, whoever didn't leave should get just as much money and rp as they would have if the game had lasted its full length. Maybe even give you more, so the enemy player would hate to let you get that bonus.

They need a way to tell the difference between network errors and intentional leaving though. I remember another game (Condemned 2) could tell the difference - if someone was disconnected, it said so; if they had left, the game said they chickened out.

If they can implement that (well not the name-calling, though maybe that too), then they could have a harsher amount of bad sport points added.

I've started moving away from just freemode, I want to play some older modes but they're deserted unless there's double money...

That needs to happen anyway really, not just to give incentive to not rage quit, it's bullsh*t that the game punishes you for being good and beating a team quickly, it makes playing with friends who are good result in sh*t pay for both losing/winning teams.

Yeah, I was thinking about this, and I don't think it would be too hard to be able to implement something like this. I don't know whether people care that much about bad sport, I know I don't, I did back when gtao was new but I don't mind being forced to take a break, sometimes it's good for me. I can't think of a penalty everyone would agree to, I was thinking losing money but that wouldn't go down well I think.

I have found a solution! If you are on the losing team and quit, an exit fee of something in between $5000 - $10000 (depending on rank) must be paid. As well as harsher bad sport penalties. The only way around it would be to close the application and restart, which takes some time therefore not many would do it... Unless they are desperate K/D whores who get scared of getting killed once.

Yes and no.

Ragequitting need to stop, but this would probably screw over people with connection issues.

While I understand your hatred towards rage quitters, I don't think they should punish them (more than they already do) for doing it.

The reason I say this is because there are times where quitting a match is somewhat necessary.

Like if something just came up and it required your attention like your job, school, family emergency, life, etc.

Sadly, it's almost impossible for Rockstar to be able to tell the rage quitters from those who had to get off due to something coming up, because the process to do both is the exact same.

That's the only reason I think they shouldn't do this.

That's a fair point, maybe they could have the punishment only happen if you quit multiple jobs within a certain period of time?

I too thought about that, and as icantthink said, there are games that have found ways of distinguishing between quitters and people getting lagged out, surely rockstar could implement something along the lines of that.

As well as people with real world stuff to deal with. Sometimes a man just has to leave the Ps4 without prior notice ya know?

If they don't have any real life stuff to do or emergency then yes they need to be punished more.

Rage quitting? I'm one of those that leave in those types of games because why should I sit there and waste my time by getting continuously spawn killed and never even get a shot? It's not fun. I'm not the best with a gun, regardless if auto-aim is on or not. I just suck, I've always been a driver. Every time I've played this particular adversary mode I've been put with players on a lower level whilst we're versing people over the levels of 300, majority of my team leaves and then I leave which is obvious because it's quite frankly unfair.

I want the bad sport increase removed, it's ridiculous. I've been disconnected from games (games referring to races, death matches, etc) and I still get the warning.

Yeah, but if real world stuff happens to pop up every time you play, and just as you're about to lose ... It's a bit iffy.

It is true though, sometimes you've got to. I'd say that any major penalties (like being put in bad sport, as opposed to just getting bad sport points) should be reserved for people who regularly leave.

I understand it can be beyond frustrating--especially during TDMs, LTS, and captures, but I don't know if a penalty is necessarily the right move. Many good points have been covered already, but there is something that R* seriously needs to get rid of and that is the option to turn team balancing OFF. It seems that every Adversary mode that I join where the host has it off, people all join one certain team (often at the last second) and leave one team severely outnumbered. Really? How is that even fun for people, but I have to remind myself that so many players use any tactic in the book to ensure a win.

Also, there's the on-call feature. Unfortunately, R* has not fully fixed the option to join a random job through the pause menu, so I will sometimes go on-call to find something of interest. I don't do it often thanks to the horrendous luck I have had finding playable matches, but whilst on-call, you cannot see any of the match's options or settings. Also, some hosts find it amusing to change the time limit of a TDM at the last second to something ridiculous like 30 minutes, no kill limit. These people deserve a special place in GTA hell.

I honestly don't know of a solution though; it's a very tricky subject manner, but believe me, you're not alone with your frustrations of people quitting simply because things are not exactly going their way.

Yeah they need to add a distinction between disconnection and leaving and the balancing is retarded but most of the time the balancing comes down to the host/players switching teams.

They should maybe remove health increase for higher lvls and balance the stats (strength/shooting etc.) in pvp modes, so it's just in pve and freeroam.

No, punishing people for leaving the game in THIS game is ridiculous when so often people get disconnected through no fault of their own.

I had one guy that changed to the other team in a 2v2 power play so they were all against me

I played Drop Zone the first week it was released.

The first day was OK and all was going well.

On the second day, they started switching to the other team on the last second leaving me against all of them. A couple times it was 3 low levels that I had no problem beating. I thought they teamed up because they were new to the game, wanted to gang up on the girl, or don't like gamer girls. Many guys in GTA don't like gamer girls.

Then the higher levels started to do the same thing.

My last Drop Zone game was me sitting in the cargobob waiting for it to end.LOL

I haven't played any more PvP games since then.

I luckily didn't run into too much sh*t with drop zone, we played it the first 2 days then stopped before it became riddled with people like that.

But every time I get people teaming up against me in power play, I can still handle myself, it only gets bad sometimes because they can have as many perks active at one time relative to how many of them there are.

I don't think people understand that you can play a fun tdm etc. and still make good cash, either it's that or just them worrying about their precious f*cking kds.

mmm im sure they would be able to punish people more effectively if you invent a software that can detect the levels of rage over the internet...

theres no way to tell if they actually rage quit or if they simply got booted by the cloud, which is something that is happening A LOT lately.

Is is just for quitting mid-match or would you also include quitting while the next round loads? Cause sometimes I don't wanna play 7 rounds of LTS/Captures etc

Mid match quitting should only be penalized if you are on the losing team and an amount of kills have been accumulated. If scores are 2-0 and someone leaves, it won't be a quit penalty but if it's 12-3 then yeah that's a rage quit. Just a simple money punishment (5-10k) that can be made up quickly if you had to quit for emergency but punishes the long-term quitters.

Really, a legitimate need to quit the game? How often does this actually happen? 98% of GTA0 players have no job, no school, and the only possible family emergency that could affect them is if they had to yell upstairs to their mom to go to the grocery immediately, because they are out of Cheetos.

:p

This is actually my biggest problem with adversary modes and also the ability to change teams before it starts so the teams are uneven. But seriously I think the majority of GTA players are the dumbest people in any game.

Got to have my Cheetos, man! Can't game without them.

On topic. This problem doesn't effect me as I don't play these game modes but I can see how it's frustrating. Like others have said, as of right now it would be difficult for R* to determine a disconnect vs someone that quit the match unless R* adds some kind of system into the game that detects that sort of thing. I really don't think it'll be a problem that will get resolved anytime soon, if even ever.

In this latest mode I had a 4 versus 1 match. You can guess who got to be that unlucky 1 lol.

Getting doped, flipped, generally having my screen f*cked around with by power ups ... Urgh. Held my own, but there wasn't any getting around it.

I don't blame you for not doing PvP, and I'm sorry you got ganged up on.

i think after each round when somebody has left the system should rearrange the teams, so no team is like three more ui than the other!!

Absolutely. Started a five versus five the other day with team balancing on. My team quickly dropped to three, me and two others who couldn't find their arse in the dark if you gave them a map, flashlight and instructions. If it had rearranged at the end of a round to make it four versus four that match might have been able to be won. It doesn't matter whether I can get 25+ kills when my teammates are 3-11 and 1-10.
