Thanks, Rockstar!

 

I'm delivering an Ornamental Egg via Tug to a boat in the water this morning, dispatch the goons on Seasharks (apparently the gunman doesn't know how to drive them, because if you shoot the driver the gunman jumps in the water and won't chase you), when a NPC Buzzard appears. I swing a hard-right to sail near my yacht that had the defenses turned on so that the Captain can blow the Buzzard out of the sky.

Either the game turned the defenses off on its own or the Captain won't fire on CEO-releated hostile NPCs ('cause he will shoot down cops and Merryweather helicopters).

Well, you can't really fire a homing missile if you're busy driving a boat, and he probably didn't want to be a sitting duck.

 

Besides, chances of a homing missile hitting an AI controlled helicopter can be iffy at times.

Yachts are stupid. Piracy prevention is cool they should have really added another VIP job with the yacht.

Well, you can't really fire a homing missile if you're busy driving a boat, and he probably didn't want to be a sitting duck.

 

Besides, chances of a homing missile hitting an AI controlled helicopter can be iffy at times.

I didn't have to do anything. I just kept going at full speed (for what the upgraded Tug can do) and the Buzzard kept pace and its passenger tried to snipe me. The Tug's armor held up and I never lost health.

The AA is against players only.

Well.... yeah forgot about Npcs not using missles. But still i wouldve shot the buzzard down as soon as i saw it on map. Could be another player instead of Npc.

I was playing in a lock-out lobby so other players weren't an issue.

no...not exactly... yacht defenses turn off with a wanted level. The only way it will shoot cops is if the owner isn't the one with a wanted level. Edited by TreFacTor

I don't think there needs to be a player on board for it to work.

 

One time I flew over a yacht, and got a warning from the captain, even though the owner wasn't on it.

I've had a WL, gotten to my yacht, switched on the AA and shot down the helicopters.

However, that was back when yachts were new and R* may have changed that

I can confirm that you don't have to be on it to shoot down players.

You don't even have to be flying: if AA is on, sailing past with earn you warnings from the Captain (though he won't fire anything)

If you get aboard someone else's yacht and can get inside their helicopter the yacht will attempt to blow you up on the helipad. Explosions will go off on the side of the ship and will hit you if you take off.

Weird, I just dip down and pickup the crates in my buzzard. Yeah I gotta do it 3 times if I am alone, but why bother with all that other stuff?

If you dont have a buzzard, it should be the absolute top of your shopping list.

Yacht defenses are turned OFF during freeroam missions, so any VIP/CEO work you start disables the yacht defenses.

At this point, I wouldn't buy anything and expect it to be actually useful beyond entertaining/messing around reasons. Even the Cargobob is totally useless for warehouse deliveries FFS. Yeah, God forbid a $1.9M purchase actually fits its intended function and lets us have a sliver more fun/variety during these missions.

LoL. The trick here is just to drive the tug and eat snacks. The guys on the seasharks are stupid bad at this game and the buzzard can't shoot through the tug roof. GG tho.
