What Do You Do While GTAV/O is Loading?

Just out of curiosity (and this is by no means a way to derail the thread), but how long does it take most of you to load up the online portion of the game? I ask simply out of curiosity because it seems that so many indicate that it is nothing short of an eternity given most of the responses thus far.

 

If I'm doing everything from a cold-load (system entirely off), the whole process takes less than three to four minutes on average. That includes the time it takes to turn on the system, click the icon to launch the game, load up story mode, select the option to go online, and have the ability to see and control my character in the online world. This is all provided that the R* game servers are fully available and nothing too crazy is going on.

 

Just curious, that's all.

It takes me 17-19 seconds to boot my system (one of my program is telling me how fast my system is booting), then I start Steam which takes about 6-8 seconds, then I launch the GTA Online mode directly (no singleplayer first) which takes about 60 to max. 90 seconds (from the pop-up of the social club window to the ingame loading screen and finally to the game itself).

While GTA Online is loading in the clouds, i just go to my computer and play a few TF2 Payload matches, then i play some matches on Rocket League, then i go back to figuring out the water temple in Ocarina of Time, then i figure out where to go in Fallout 1, then i order in a pizza and watch some Hey Arnold. Then 2 minutes later after all that i load into the game only to find out i'm on an empty public server.

I'd add that certainly most of us are aware that loading to story mode, then joining Online is reliably faster than loading directly to Online.

I do it the slower way to have more time to take the dogs out and so I don't have to see whichever Franklin scene (that I've seen too many times before) comes up and put more buttons and stare at the clouds for the longest 20-60 seconds there is in the game.

What does "to entertain the significant other" mean? Having sex or what?

Usually listen to my friends bitch at me for not loading in fast enough while I scroll thru social media. Then get timed out... Back to story mode... Join crew members... Gets put in session with no one.. Joins off their profile, random lobby, tries to join other friend, player "no longer in session" joining a new online session.... Slowly rot until there's nothing but a skeleton and a controller covered in dust

On Xbox 360, I re-arrange stuff on my table, browse GTAF - or the internet in general - on the phone, look around my shelf for stuff I might need or just want to clean up, get some water if thirsty, stare at the loading screen, talk to friend about how long it takes to load the game (if present in party), and maybe attempt to draw something if the game still continues to load. If I don't do at least half of these things before the game loads, then either something is really, really, wrong or the game has reached a WR in loading.

 

 

On PC, I don't wait for the game to load, the game waits for me to control the character already.
