Hi guys. I'm getting GTA 5 on Monday once I finish my exams and I have a friend who has an office. He has said I can be his assistant when doing the crate missions and I know it has to be in a public lobby however if I were to be his assistant in a private lobby would I still get the pay check or does this only happen in public lobbies.

You'll still be paid for being an associate in Invite Only lobbies, but you can't do the buy & sell cargo missions in there.
