dragovianwarrior95
I got into modding the vehicles in SA a few years ago but never really tried out what I changed. Recently though, I did try it out and I noticed issues with the vehicles. Some of them didn't have changeable colors. The appearance of others didn't change when the vehicle took damage. My game would even crash when I would try to customize something like the spoilers in the TransFender. I'm planning on removing those mods and replacing them with new ones, but is there any way to know if the vehicle mod I'm downloading has the "assets" (changeable colors, customization options, etc.) that the base game vehicles would normally have? Alihunter
Well i know u know these, but just to umm, confirming: Carcolors.dat:Default colors of each car is here. Carmods.dat:Tuning parts available for cars, written here. Some cars is NOT conpatible with some tunong parts like spoilers. So sekecting them cause crashes. Some cars got sth like paintjobs. So their color CANNOT BE changed. So,Use diffrent cars, from better authors. Btw,knowing which car has customizable color is a bit different. You need to open txd,and make sure there shouldn't be any 1 part texture for entire body. (This may diffrent though.) dragovianwarrior95
I'm actually referring to the car mods I download. One of the ones I downloaded didn't have changeable colors, yet when I uninstalled it, I could change the colors of the base game car model. Alihunter
You mean,Spawned cars didn't had changeable colors? Or the color of car coudnt be changed at all,Even in tuning shops?
atheoang3l0_old
The mod creator would usually let you know if their car can be customized, as making it customizable does require doing some extra work. You can also check if the car mod in question requires you to replace more models (DFF) and textures (TXD) other than those of the original car, and/or requires you to edit files in the "data" folder like carmods.dat, as they can be indicators that the car is customizable. Otherwise, just take it for a spin. Edited June 29, 2016 by atheoang3l0
Alihunter
I think from colors,He meant spawning car colors,That can be defined/customized in carcolor.dat
dragovianwarrior95
Actually, I meant that the original car model of the car I was modding (Infernus I believe) had changeable colors. I decided to use a mod I found and the new model didn't allow me to change the car's colors. But anyway, it does seem like the only way to know if a car mod has different colors is through trial and error. And in my case, it involves spawning a new car and taking it to the TransFender. Alihunter
Yes,and some trainers could be used for this too. Like spawning car with trainer, and change it with trainer too. The action is same as taking it to Transfender,But faster.
atheoang3l0_old
Speaking of, I forgot about Majestic's DFF Viewer. It marks parts of the vehicle that can be recolored with green (Color 1) and pink (Color 2). If it's all white, it can't be recolored. Fooking Rekt
Speaking of, I forgot about Majestic's DFF Viewer. Apart from viewing models and providing a list of their parts, it also lets you know which parts of a vehicle can be recolored by marking them with green (Color 1) and pink (Color 2). Try checking it out. What about Color 3?
atheoang3l0_old
There is no Color 3.
Fooking Rekt
What about the Camper? It has 3 different colors and i'm 50% sure the Towtruck has 3 different colored lines as well.
atheoang3l0_old
Okay, just checked. Yes, there is a Color 3. DFF Viewer marks it with light blue.
