Increased "Ultra Reflection Quality" distance

Hello modders!

 

 

Please help me to achieve a higher quality of Reflection than what is possible with the in-game "Ultra Reflection Quality" setting.

I would like to increase the view distance by factor of four or five in which game geometry is applied the ultra reflection for sunlight.

 

 

If you can help, first check which parameters are modified when changing reflection quality from High to Very High to Ultra, then make an option for 5x Ultra.

 

 

Or please share how to mod this by altering which specific files inside OpenIV

Go to update.rpf/common/data/timecycle/and in w_*.xml files change values in parameters:
- in <reflection_lod_range_end> change from 50.0000 to 1000.0000

- in <reflection_slod_range_end> change from 100.0000 to 1000.0000.

Hey _CP_, Thanks for the help. I'll change those values you provide and report back here in this thread with the results.

 

 

edit: results - Okay i changed those. <reflection_slod_range_end> was already at 1000.0000 (slod only) However, reflection_lod_end was at 50.0000 so edited those to 1000.0000. Your recommendations changed something, so thanks for the tips and got me on the right track finding where to make edits. _CP_, can i change these higher than 1000.000? How about 3000.0000? Thank you _CP_!

 

Now, can anyone show how to change the reflection map resolution or how to apply Anti-aliasing to the Sunlight reflection? My PC can't do 5K with 8x Sgssaa, it slows to 1 - 2 fps. 1080P or 4K + 4x ssaa is good enough to eliminate all of the geometry aliasing. The only remaining jagged edges are on surfaces where sunlight is reflecting. Annoying jagged edges from the low-resolution sunlight reflection map are still visible on the edges of glass window panes on the sky scrapers, car bumpers and chrome detailing, street light braces, hand-railing on roof-tops, metal light posts, metal fence posts, chain link and barbed wire.

 

 

TLDR: How can we increase in size the Sunlight Reflection Map resolution without increasing the entire game resolution?

Oh, I made a mistake, <reflection_slod_range_end> change from 1000.0000 to 10000.0000.

Do you also know how to increase the sunlight reflection map resolution? Is changing the bloom resolution and/or disabling the bloom effect possible too? Possibly some aliasing on thin geometry & transparent textures is caused by low resolution bloom map..

 

Lastly, does anyone know how to edit the Ambient Occlusion effect to increase its resolution or to get the dark low-res blur effect to go away. Normal/High looks bad
