Yeah, after searching again, I guess the cabrios should just live here, as the cabrio thread is not in the vehicles section, and it doesn't really need a new thread.

I do like the Coupé more than the Cabrio version. The back just does not look right without a roof.

Ah, the Zion XS

0iX6d7Z.png

This car has always been dreadful. I mean, it looks great. It's a pretty great interpretation of the 6-Series E63/E64 and the XS (the coupe) can pretty much be made to look like an M6. Its bodywork is a re-imagination sort of. Well...

So if the exterior looks are all it's got going for it, let me tell you what it doesn't have going for it. It actually should be my favorite car in the game, as cars such as the M6 are my favorite type of vehicles. Big coupes, luxury but with sporty touches, a nice interior, nice colors and lots of power. And I particularly love the way the Germans do it, the M6 has always been my favorite M-car and one of my all-time favorite German cars. A few years back, I had really tried to like this car. I mean I did a photo-shoot with it (as seen above) and I really digged its looks in the closest I could get to Interlagos Blue at the time. But as soon as you opened the door, that cut-and-paste late 80's/early 90's JDM tuner interior just wasn't it. For reference, here is what a bangle-butt era BMW 6-Series (M6) interior looks like:

2009-bmw-6-series-coupe-dashboard-carbuz

And then here's what Rockstar thought was the best fit:

olxALOI.jpg

I mean... that late 00's, tech-laden interior they shoved into Feltzer sure would've done the trick but... oh well I guess. It's just not funny, or excusable, anymore. In a game that has FPV, car interiors should matter a bit. But to Rockstar? "Naaah let's just cut and paste some 90's car interior, I doubt anymore one will notice" yeah and nobody will want it, that's why this appreciation page only has 2 pages after 7 and a half years. Quality work.

But that's all just nitpicking compared to what I'm about to get into. Sure, this outdated, poorly detailed thing may "lead" the coupes class and be the "go-to" racer for folks who value the best tool over actual skill and racing talent (:kekw:) but the M6 E63 is a "sports car" and it should've been one. It's a 507-horsepower, naturally-aspirated V10 powered monster that can reach 60 MPH in just over 4 seconds. This car is so high-tech and sophisticated that it's a legitimate nightmare in the used car market and has lost about 90% of its value to depreciation because it's so costly when things break. But it was an amazing car and no slouch. And a serious screamer. You hear one of these coming and think "is that a Lambo? An R8? Oh, it's an M6!" and it revs to like 8200 RPM.

So... what kind of performance characteristics what did Rockstar give this car? Well, for starters, it sounds like a 6-cylinder. It doesn't rev very high nor does it sound very good at all. And then, and this is the biggest reason why I've always hated it, it handles like sh*t. No, not sh*t as in it slides all over the place and understeers/oversteers into things. No. It just feels like a boring ass car. Plain. It lacks any character. There is no "feel" or weight in the steering, no sense of weight or control at all. The way it changes direction is not remarkable. It barely slides, and when it does it's not due to the incredible amount of power it should be making. And it rides like a brick. No suspension. This is one of the vanilla cars, back when GTA V first came out and people raged on about how crappy the cars handled before Rockstar grew a pair and started tuning their add-on cars better. So yeah, it feels like sh*t. It may be a good car for the coupes class. But that's because the coupes class consists of boats like the Windsor and regular/non-sporty, premium coupes and swoopy four doors. I mean, c'mon? A Rebla GTS could run laps around this car. But the Zion XS was from a time when Rockstar thought only exotic cars and go-fast looking cars could sound and handle good. Back when we didn't have any true sports sedans or SUVs. Times have changed, and this car is now useless.

So its interior is trash, it sounds nothing like a V10, and its handling could cure my insomnia. Needless to say, I avoided this car. Got rid of the one I had and simply ruled the Zion XS as yet another f*ck up by Rockstar due to incompetence, lack of car knowledge, and complacency. It exists just to exist, to add to the quantity of cars in this game so that it looks like it has a great/diverse car selection. And we haven't gotten a proper, modern Ubermacht coupe since. How could they have done the Zion XS better? Well, I've reiterated this quite a few times over the years whenever this thing is brought up:

  • Give it a better interior/a Feltzer interior
  • Make it sound like a V10 or give it the Banshee engine-note
  • Place it in the sports category and completely reconfigure its handling to make it feel more like a sports coupe with power

It really was that simple.

...

8hVNLgu.png

And, once again, here comes the GTA 5 modding community to the rescue again. A work-in-progress, via WibFlip of gta5-mods, this is the Zion V10. It's not finished, and honestly I only have access to it because I did some carvariations for it (more on that below). But as you can imagine, I'm stunned. This is the GTA:Online section and obviously this is V-focused, but nobody talks about cars in that subforum so... 🤷‍♂️

So, what has been fixed? Well, for starters, it now sounds like a V10. It uses the Banshee engine-note (go figure) and boy is this car a joy to look at and drive now with it making all of that noise. No compromise to simply cruising around however, surprisingly that engine does shut up at lower-revs. And (I don't have any pictures) but there's not a fully fleshed out V10 model under the hood. The wheels are unique and imporved, there's daytime running lights, many many tuning parts, a V10 badge, a U/// badge, and... a brand new interior:

EFWDPBn.png

And it's colorable... I can't thank WibFlip enough for this. The dashboard is out of a Nero, but readjusted so that the top portion remains black. And the stock, luxury seats remain. At last, this car finally has an interior that compliments its looks and it really does say a lot; that some of Rockstar's older, "filler" cars would look so much more complete with more attention to detail.

wP9iwgZ.png

And then there's the handling. The mod will come with its own handling done by the creator when it releases, but I had gotten bored about a week ago (before I had learned of this project) and toyed around the the stock Zion. I made it more slippery, quicker, gave it semi-quick shifts, and I had given it a loftier top speed of 190 MPH (which it'll reach on a straight in about 30-45 or so seconds. 0-60 is 4.5s after it gains traction, it has a nice sharp turn in with a little big of vagueness in the steering. Give it a little more and it'll slide and oversteer. Torque is low-ish so it feels powerful but silky smooth. Not like the Schafter V12 I re-tuned a while back, but it just feels exotic. But at low speeds it feels like an Oracle. Very nice and easy to use.

Needless to say. It's a joy to look at and now a joy to drive. I mean, with a proper interior, a Banshee engine note and accurate handling, it's just as good as I thought it would be. Figures. Just has me thinking... why couldn't Rockstar do this? I mean, this is actually one of my favorite, if not my favorite, cars right now. Out of all of the lore cars, etc. An improved, Rockstar-made car, simply to make it how it SHOULD'VE been, is my favorite car. Says a lot.

6tKK0qS.png

So I had a little bit of fun with the colors as a bit of a color nerd. We have (starting from front, then right-to-left) Ontario Gold over Gold Brown Merino, Phoenix Yellow, Sepang Brown Metallic over Portland Brown Merino, Indianapolis Red over Silverstone II Merino, Interlagos Blue over Silverstone II Merino, Silverstone Silver over Gold Brown Merino, Stratus Grey over Indianapolis Red Merino, and Frozen Gray over Ivory Merino to replicate the rare M6 E63 Competition Limited Edition. Quite a mouthful. This is the only car where I've completed all of the specs I've wanted to do lol. I'll share the colors if anyone cares. I really like the Ontario Gold one, it's based off of one owned by a watch maker out of Hawaii:

a693a16c09344e5d8f1879c5fe2e9aa8.jpg

Yeah needless to say, I love this car.

S5lSeHZ.png

The yellow one sure looks goofy right? Well so does this:

1024_6266373738383334-jpg.7508

Pretty cool to see Phoenix Yellow on one of those (factory painted). And so I had to copy it.

nswyzFm.png

Rockstar needs to hire some of these modders. They sure know how to do a much better job than them. 😉

And it's colorable... I can't thank WibFlip enough for this. The dashboard is out of a Nero, but readjusted so that the top portion remains black. And the stock, luxury seats remain. At last, this car finally has an interior that compliments its looks and it really does say a lot; that some of Rockstar's older, "filler" cars would look so much more complete with more attention to detail.

Says a lot.

Yeah needless to say, I love this car.

The yellow one sure looks goofy right? Well so does this:

Pretty cool to see Phoenix Yellow on one of those (factory painted). And so I had to copy it.

Rockstar needs to hire some of these modders. They sure know how to do a much better job than them. 😉

I enjoyed reading your post and your passion for the M6. I also love this car. Nearly bought a used 2010 model in Black/Black with 68k miles back in 2014.

It really is a shame that Rockstar never goes back enough to edit and improve the OG cars. The Grotti Cheetah could use some work, as well as the Zentorno.

...maybe the E&E edition will bring about some much needed overhauls, who knows.

I'm kind of tempted to buy one in the future but that engine seems like a money sink lol. But I will always love that car, every time I see one it's just the coolest thing and I see a lot of Ferraris/Lambos, etc. and they still stand out.

Maybe Rockstar will touch up some of their older cars. We can hope, til then I guess I'm just relying on these mods...

This spec is pretty much like the one from that Top Gear episode where they went to the Isle of Man to try out the new V8 Vantage against the BMW M6 and Porsche 911. It was also used in some other reviews that give me some late 00's / early 10's nostalgia:

For some reason this picture looks much more garbage than it did in-game, will take a better pic when I get back on.
Needless to say, I'm a huge BMW fan and couldn't miss out on this in the game, shame most Ubermacht's look like utter sh*t though.

The Zion has had quite the reign of King of the Coupes class race but I have a feeling the upcoming Previon will dethrone it. A time of 1:07.403 would be only faster than the Warrener HKR and Futo GTX and I can't imagine the Previon being that slow, especially since it has camber. Nevertheless, it's been fun seeing a vanilla car hold onto its top spot for this long.

What? Only 2 pages for this car? :O

Anyway...I finally sold my Zion. I only kept it for the coupe class races because it was by far the fastest. I will replace it with the Previon for racing.

BTW: I'm glad that in a few days Cypher will be released, which at least looks like a real BMW.

I would say this car looks better than the real deal, the 6 series from this era looked like a strange fish with the gigantic mouth and the very round front end. I know about the flame surfacing and whatever, but it doesnt really work in a long luxury coupe, where you have to stretch the lines.

I wouldn't say this car looks better than the E63 at all, but it is very unmistakably based on one. I don't think any of the Ubermachts (save for that stupid Cadillac concept) had problems with looking like a BMW tbh.

Mine is pure black on the shinier epsilon texture, with pure gold wheel color.
