I've just bought GTA 5 again after about a year and a half after selling it and was thinking of starting online again with a new character. Is the new content and the grind to the top worth it?

I think so. I started a new character because the old one can't get the crew emblem, and it hasn't been bad. Really helps to have a friend boost you if you are interested in getting the awards and stuff, jmo Just a nice game that stays the distance, you know?

Well it sounds like you're having doubts. Do you mean as in, will it be too much work? Or, will there not be enough new stuff?

If it's about there not being enough new stuff, I wouldn't worry about that. There's been a fair bit added.

You will have to grind a lot to get the latest stuff, and I can see why that would put you off (just the thought of it is kind of daunting), but I think you should go for it. What's there to lose?

Oh, welcome to the forum by the way.

If you were brand new to GTA online I'd say go for it, but seeing that you sold the best GOAT a year-and-a-half ago and didn't buy another copy until now suggests you're not a committed GTA online player. And that will have a massive effect on your motivation. I say don't bother.

Rockstar and the rest of us thank you for buying the game again, but you're going to get massively overwhelmed by the amount of grinding you need to do for all the apartments, yachts, offices, warehouses, cars, etc...

It's way easier to make money nowadays but harder to buy new content because they are normally overpriced, you can still have fun with some old stuff, there are tons of options.

It was more to see if there is enough new content that will keep me interested. I dont mind the grind because im looking for a game that will keep me hooked for a while. Think i'll give it a go and start a new character. Thanks for the offer Grindgrizzly but im on Xbox One.

You remind me of a friend I hand-held through GTA online about a month ago. He knew very little and it was hard work, but enjoyable, tracking back and explaining everything.

Suddenly, after about two weeks, he'd had enough and returned to Fallout 4 and now Destiny... you're either a committed player or a casual player, and what I'm explaining is casual players tend to fade away pretty quickly because they can't cope with the sheer scale of GTA online. You sound like that casual player.

No, OP, don't do that. I took a break from Online in 2015 (April '15 - January '16) and now I can tell it's not worth it. It's the same game. A lot of people will disagree, arguing about new mechanics, CEO, freeroam stuff, etc. In my opinion, irrelevant. The map is the same. Top speed is still capped, network issues are not fixed, matchmaking is still the same.

Watch some movies, listen to the music, read something or play some new games.

You'd have to be nuts to want to start over again, f*ck that nonsense.

Just use your previous character.

Don't let anyone trample your fire, even if you gave up before you're here now so that says something. Get online and try to make friends with some decent higher levels that are willing to help you grind and you'll be there in no time. You do not need multi-millions to enjoy GTAO so long as you're not easily impressed and "have" to have all the things.

Id say no. There r some dlcs youve missed but before you can enjoy that content you need so much money that it aint worth it.

Id say you need to grind roughly 300k a day to be rdy for an upcomming dlc. On top of that you would need to catch up with everything youve missed.

Though for a small amount(200k apartment?) I guess you can play Heists for the first time and maybe CEO/VIP work but incl a Buzzard thats 3mil to start.

Anyway. If you have good internet, will and time your hands. That's all you need...

I suppose it boils down to what you expect out of the game and what you enjoy doing whilst playing.

What all do you have unlocked with your previous character? How much money did it have? What was its rank?

If you've already unlocked car upgrades, have a semi-sufficient collection of cars and so on, just do as previously stated and transfer your character--unless you want to change from male to female or vice versa, you will have a chance to alter the appearance upon transferring if that is a concern. The small things are honestly the largest hassle, but like I said, it all depends on how you play and what you prefer to do.

Do what you want, man. Me, I don't even level up my secondary character. Just eh, you know?

But, if you're going through with it and ou want to do missions, heists, or other co-op stuff, call me. My Heavy Pistol and I are always happy to oblige.

Just don't hire me for any form of PvP stuff. I will do that activity once, then try to actively avoid you permanently until I feel enough time has passed so that you won't notice I removed you from my list.

That's why I only do 5% cut, see.

EDIT: To put it simply, I'm better than Taliana Martinez, but worse than Daryl Johns.

No, don't be a dumbass, if you already have progress and money in your hand in your current character then don't waste it because of non-existent pride issues, no one would want to play with low levels in heists and jets will swarm you forever.

Not worth it. I was a high level, loaded player who finally got fed up with this game months ago. I come back every now and then when they release new dlc and I'll play for an hour or two here and there, then i am reminded why i got fed up in the first place.

The new dlc is pretty much just expensive crap to get people to buy shark cards. It is flashy, gimmicky, and looks cool, but once you buy it, you realize it is worthless. I buy all of it since i still have about $75M but it amazes me that people actually grind for this crap or worse yet shell out real cash.

This latest one is case in point. Offices are just expensive properties like yachts and stilt houses. You can buy a $500k weapon locker that only works for free roam, and a useless vault. If you shell out for a warehouse, you get to play repetitive go fetch missions that you can actually lose money on, since you are forced to play in public lobbies where you are a blazing hot, easy target for griefers in jets. (You will be in slow defenseless vehicles and lose your whole take when they kill you, and you become a special blip on their radar)

Honestly if i was you, I'd see if you can get your money back for the game or trade it for something else.

the only "begin from scratch" component is the dollar counter on the top right. even if you start new, this is not WoW. u will not suddenly have a lvl 20 twink with best in lvl equipment that gives you the feeling of having it done all for this char.

in the end, its just the about the money.

also, what lvl have u been?

Depends, I suppose.

Personally I think GTA is always at its best when you have very little and have to be a little more creative when trying to overcome challenges. I've played as four new characters over the last few years and every time I've really enjoyed having to think on my feet when the odds are against me.

Then again, others in the thread have stated that there are 'committed' and 'casual' GTAO players (not meant in a derogatory way), and I'm most definitely the former. I'll persevere with the slow progress because that's the part I enjoy.

Are you in it for the journey, or the destination?

I would and id start with joining some dedicated players off this forum doing the heists theres always people needing help.

You will be able to form a good team/crew and make a few million to get a beginner ceo set up. If you achieve criminal mastermind then you will be well on your way. The ceo work pays big it wont take long to make cash back im seeing some very nice profits myself and from other members

Starting from scratch? Absolutely not worth it. If you can transfer your character then that'd be awesome. But if you have to start all over that obviously sucks. There's no plus to starting over. You're stuck with a low rank without access to basic things like weapons and parachutes, your stats are artificially lower than other players, and you have little to no money to buy anything to help you survive in freeroam.

But if it's your only option, of course. This game is awesome.

Is it worth it? Nah. I've spent to many hours and almost cost me a relationship to get me to point I'm at right now. I would not go through all the bs again .If you have to motivation to start all over again then go for it.

Just checked my previous online character and he's level 43 with 67 hours play time. Honestly didn't think it was that much haha. I already have a high end apartment and have $600,000 in the bank with my best car probably being the Audi R8 (Obey F9?). Think ive changed my mind and will just continue with this character. Thanks for all the comments, i didnt expect so many.
