BondageKitty
I been getting some stuttering in GTA V. Happens in Single Player or Online. I am doubting it's my specs as it even happens at the lowest settings possible. Recorded a few hours ago at lowest settings when I was testing out to see if it was still there at low settings. Link: https://youtu.be/DKogTjx1Olw Audio got unsynced on that video with the stutter from grenade around the 8 minute mark, in gameplay audio was synced so that's not part of the problem. I read up http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_V From the fixes there I have tried: Disabling Custom Radio. My GPU has 4Gb, Havent gone past memory limit even when trying. I tried once in offline mode, still stuttered. I changed Windows sound quality. Set graphics setting on Nvidia control panel. I did not roll back the controller driver since the link is broken. I did put the -framelimit 1 command. Even with all the fixes on the page, stutter remains.CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core ProcessorMotherboard: ASRock H97 PRO4 ATX LGA1150 MotherboardMemory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 MemoryStorage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard DriveVideo Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 4GB Video CardCase: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower CasePower Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power SupplyOptical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD WriterOperating System: Windows 10 64x I play at 1360x768, 60hz. I play around high settings and get 60 FPS except for the annoying stutters. But they happen at the lowest settings. Tried with Shadowplay off, still stutters. Drivers are at their most recent. Alihunter
Audio can cause aome lag/stutter sometimes. Usertrack songs could too. Remove all saves,Reinstall game Remove usertracks. Also try diffrent audio setts(Chamgeable in Audio section in Options) Admin rights is a most, compatibilty set to windows 7(8+if u are) Some nvidia panel setting can be changed,Check out manage 3d sett section Umm... Priority is a fix too. Worth a shot,But check out CPU usage in task manager too. Mine had a lot of stutter\lag.checked down,Cpu usage was 100% and without anything runmed it was 50%,Finded out it was Windows update problem stopped it and worked like a charm. Dont use cracks tho I know you know this,But power plan should be set on High performance Last shot is game boosters

As the above method states you could also try and change it from Off to On/Half then turn it back Off and see if that helps

Have not tried reinstalling game but steam verified and it was fine. Downloading the game took me 3 full days so keeping that as a last resort. Have not tried setting to compatibility mode. Doing that after this post but wont have time to test today. I had already changed Nvidia 3d settings following PC gaming Wiki I am using a bat. file that launches GTA from steam, then after 60 seconds sets GTA priority to high. Ive been playing with Task Manager open, spikes do match CPU and Disk reaching 100% sometimes but I cant tell which if any. It's steam copy. Using Razer Game boost which also sets power to high performance
BondageKitty
Kinda giving up. Nothing fixes it. The more I look it up, the more I read that GTA V updates have broken optimizations and performance and friends with Nvidia Titans that saw the video tell me they get that too. Will try one last fix I seen online, to cap the framerate at 30 or 45. If the stutter is gone I will report, if not, probably will just deal with it. BondageKitty
Since I am feeling it is a storage bottleneck and I was cannibalizing another PC soon anyways, I am trying out installing GTA V in a harddrive by itself. BondageKitty
So installed it on my second harddrive. Haven't done any tweak to fix stutter, just Vanilla game. Stutter is 95% gone. The rare times it happens are the first time there is an explosion or particle effects. Pretty much gone.
Crystal3lf
Some possible fixes already posted, but have you tried some of these: http://gtaforums.com/topic/846745-does-your-game-stutter/ Back when I posted this I had major stutters thanks to the valentines update, but I literally never get them anymore, same with a friend with almost identical specs as you. The game is perfect in terms of optimisation now, so you shouldn't be getting stutters at all as long as your settings are right and drivers updated. I even have frame-scaling set to 1.25 and I still get 70FPS+ after the recent updates. Edited July 2, 2016 by Crystal3lf
Alihunter
He\she already tried priority and driver fixes. Its actually too odd @OP,Reset 3d settings in nvidia CP then. + Defragging may help also +Some certain apps could lower the priority of GTA.Double check for it too
BondageKitty
I fixed the stutter pretty much by running 2 bat files. One that kills Steam's webhelper every few minutes and another that starts GTA, checks for GTAV.exe and when it's true, sets the priority to high and the launcher and socialclub to idle. I also used command prompt to disable Nvidia stream service. After that have played around 5 hours and the stutter is mostly gone. Havent noticed an FPS drop ever since. BondageKitty
hmm...Mind sharing bat files? I don't think it will effect mine though since im not running through steam Edit: When I say I made, I am referring to the files I made on my PC. Not taking credit for the code. Here is what I did. I am Nvidia so I did this on Command Prompt as Admin: sc stop "NvStreamSvc" then sc config "NvStreamSvc" start=disabled then made a .bat with this, It kills Steam web helper every set time. You only ever need to use it once. However note that it does kill Steam's browser so it might be annoying if you browse steam community features as it will not load every now and then. :: steamwebhelper Killer by AveYo 1.2, all right reserved:: When you want to play games without lag, cpu, memory spikes caused by steamwebhelper, launch this.:: It will run at all times, until you use "Stop steamwebhelper killer.bat" from http://pastebin.com/download.php?i=jQ5M3746:: Changes from 1.1: removed dependency on steam.exe [email protected] OFFSET "REPEAT_TASK_EVERY_MINUTES=10":: Gain admin rightsif "%1"=="_SELF_ADMIN" goto :_STARTecho Set UAC = CreateObject^("Shell.Application"^) > "%temp%\~1337run.vbs"echo UAC.ShellExecute "%~s0", "_SELF_ADMIN %~sdp0", "", "runas", 1 >> "%temp%\~1337run.vbs"CALL CSCRIPT //nologo "%temp%\~1337run.vbs" &DEL /F /Q "%temp%\~1337run.vbs" &EXIT /B:_STARTSHIFT:::: Set task to start two minutes later. needed because a system task cannot be started ondemand with the SCHTASKS /Run command CALL :SCHEDULE_TIME:: create task to kill steamwebhelper's minions every 4 minutes - using system account so the taskkill cmd prompt is not visibleCALL SCHTASKS /create /ru "System" /TN steamwebhelper_killer /TR "TASKKILL /F /IM steamwebhelper.exe /T" /SC MINUTE /MO %REPEAT_TASK_EVERY_MINUTES% /ST %SCHEDULETIME% /Fecho INFO: steamwebhelper's are killed every %REPEAT_TASK_EVERY_MINUTES% minutes starting %SCHEDULETIME%. echo INFO: If you want this prompt hidden, use something like hidebat.vbs in the shortcut target...rem :: launch steam.exe and wait for itrem FOR /F "tokens=3*" %%I IN ('REG QUERY "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam"^|FINDSTR /I /L "SteamExe"') DO SET "STEAMEXE=%%~I"rem SET "STEAMEXE=%STEAMEXE:/=\%"rem START "" /WAIT "%STEAMEXE%" -silent:: delete task after closing Steam so it only runs while Steam is runningrem SCHTASKS /Delete /TN steamwebhelper_killer /F:: Set schedule to start in two minutesgoto :EOF:SCHEDULE_TIMEFINDSTR "'~1337ti%skip%m" "%~f0">"%temp%\~1337tim.vbs"CALL CSCRIPT //nologo "%temp%\~1337tim.vbs" >"%temp%\~1337tim.cmd"CALL "%temp%\~1337tim.cmd" &DEL /F /Q "%temp%\~1337tim.vbs"DEL /F /Q "%temp%\~1337tim.cmd"goto :EOFsNow = DateAdd("n", 2, Now) '~1337timsHour = Hour(sNow) '~1337timsMinute = Minute(sNow) '~1337timIf sHour < 10 Then sHour = 0 & sHour '~1337timIf sMinute < 10 Then sMinute = 0 & sMinute '~1337timWScript.echo "SET SCHEDULETIME=" & sHour & ":" & sMinute & ":00" '~1337timrem SET "STIME=%TIME: =0%"rem SET H=%STIME:~0,2% &SET "M=%STIME:~3,2%"rem IF [%H:~0,1%]==[0] SET "H=%H:~1,1%"rem IF [%M:~0,1%]==[0] SET "M=%M:~1,1%"rem IF %M% GEQ 58 IF %H% GEQ 23 SET "H=00" &SET "M=00"rem IF %M% GEQ 58 IF %H% LEQ 22 SET /A "H+=1" &SET "M=00"rem IF %M% LEQ 57 SET /A "M+=2"rem IF NOT [%H:~0,1%]==[0] IF %H% LEQ 9 SET "H=0%H%"rem IF NOT [%M:~0,1%]==[0] IF %M% LEQ 9 SET "M=0%M%"rem SET "SCHEDULETIME=%H%:%M%:00"rem goto :EOF so I also made a .bat with the script to stop the above one. This one is the only thing you need to always use. I think it's Steam only though. BondageKitty
Little update, Nvidia had a new driver and I noticed the clean install option so I wanted to try it out. Performance and stutters took huge improvement from it. I did too many changes to single it out as the only cause however but it might be a good thing to try out.
