southparkmayor
since may of 2012, only 2 games have been released by Rock star. Max Payne 3, and GTA V. R* would usually announce a game a year prior to it's release date. Making the release of a new game happen by this time in 2017 at the earliest. Could the departure of The Benz the lead producer be causing R* to bide their time with GTA Online Shark Cards? Why is R* so overdue on announcing a new game? Gtaman_92
I honestly believe they're having some sort of internal problems thats related to the benz leaving. 5 years without any announcements is not normal no matter what anyone says. Megumi
In a few years or so. Maybe when the cash cards sales start shrinking like the American middle class. Eugene H. Krabs, theGTAking101 and Original Light
Voggs
GTA Online is mostly the cause, it's been good for R* but not for people that don't play/care about it. And they are speaking up, most of the comments on Online sh*t are people tired of it or asking for a SP DLC, and with good reason. Reminds me when no one gave a sh*t about the endless MP3 Multiplayer posts after GTA V was announced, but at least they had a game announced unlike now. DarksunDaFirst
Well it was 5.5 years between GTA IV and GTA V. It was 3.5 years between GTA IV release and GTA V announcement. It has been about 2.75 years since GTA V was released for the 7th gen consoles. Remember, they did a full blown remaster for both 8th gen systems and also PC. Doing so is a lot more than just a copy, enchance, and paste job...especially for the Playstation which went under a major architecture overhaul between each of the last 3 generations (2 to 3 and 3 to 4). Rumor is they were supposed to announce Red Dead 3 at Sony E3 Conference, but they didn't for some reason...and is also why Sony had that oddball gameplay of a game they showed a trailer of 45 minutes earlier. It's pretty clear that somethings up, and Benz's departure is likely a result of it. And remember Agent? Right now, Rockstar are nothing more than a group of programmers in an office churning out consistent clutter for GTA Online while Take Two rakes in money from shark cards. Maibatsu545
Eh, I dont even care anymore. Let the, take their time I say. I'd rather wait ten years and get something truly revolutionary while they continue to milk GTAOnline for years and years. Osho
Osho
There are a few strong hints suggesting that R* are planning to unveil the next RDR very soon, and by the end of this year. I believe they'd be talking only about the next RDR and as always working on the marketing of the game expected to be released any time in 2017, and until they're done with every thing to make the launch successful and support for the same post release, I don't think they'll be willing to even speak a word about the next GTA. This means the announcement of the next GTA may not happen as early as before 2018.

The Benz showed emails showing how hopeless the houser brothers were without him. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/red-dead-redemption-a-recurring-nightmare-during-d/1100-6438770/ "As Sam Houser himself recognized, the Houser brothers were incapable of completing large and complex games without The Benz' oversight, management, and skill in taking unwieldy designs and making an understandable, cohesive, and enjoyable game," reads a line from the lawsuit. I seriously doubt rockstar will be able to produce quality games with that rockstar games feel after f*cking him over.
