The new vehicle should have been called the Cavalier

Yes, I know it was made by Grotti, an Italian company, but nonetheless, Rockstar should have named the new car the Cavalier just for the city of Cleveland.

 

What happened to the city of Cleveland on Sunday night was something special. The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors by a score of 93-89 in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals, ending a 52 year championship for the city. Before this, the last time a Cleveland sports franchise won a title was 1964, when football's Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship.

 

1964. Grand Theft Auto didn't exist yet. Hell, video games didn't exist yet. Not even the Super Bowl existed back then. 52 years--more than half a century--without seeing any of your teams win a title. Just imagine much of a toll that takes on a sports fan.

 

And yes, this is all coming from a Bay Area sports fan. When the San Francisco 49ers won Super Bowl XXIX back during the 1994-95 NFL season, I was only 1 year old at the time. During my elementary and middle school years, I watched frustrating team after team, be it the Giants, the 49ers, the Warriors, or the Sharks (who were actually very good back then...but even now, they're still chokers). Then 2010 came, and with it a Giants World Series title. The Bay Area went 16 long years without a title. The San Francisco Giants franchise, 56.

 

But that's nothing compared to the heartache Cleveland has faced.

 

Now I know some of you are saying "Oh, it's just a basketball game" or "Oh, it's just a win, trophy, whatever". But to Cleveland this is more than just a title. This brings a new life to the city, erases a once-immovable dark cloud. It gives the city confidence that its sports teams can do great things.

 

Some of you are also saying "But you're a Bay Area fan". Well, regardless of where you're from or which teams you're rooting for, how can you not be happy for Cleveland? This title not only impacted the team and the city, but the entire sports world as well.

 

Some of you may also ask "Why not name it Lebron or James because he did all the heavy lifting?". Yes he did, but at the end of the day it was the team that won the championship. And as hot as Lebron was, he couldn't have done it without the help of Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson.

 

As you all probably know, Grand Theft Auto V has been one of the best selling games of all time, and there's no doubt that there are Cleveland sports fans among the GTA Online community.

 

So I think it would be nice for those players if Rockstar renamed the new car (or a future car) to be called the Cavalier.

 

And yes, I'm aware that there was a car called the Chevrolet Cavalier. But I don't think Chevrolet would sue Rockstar over that car. It was seen as an unremarkable car, and I think even people who work for Chevrolet forgot about it.
