Creed Bratton
It doesn't seem to be very playable. But if some random guy can make something like that then surely Sony could create a real working emulator for the PS4 to make PS3 games backwards compatible. At least on the upcoming PS4 with improved hardware.
Milky Way
Uncharted barely runs in that small window you're talking about 4k. Alright then.

DEALUX
That depends on how well the emulator is programmed. If it can take advantage of powerful hardware. My guess is that the frame rate will be dogsh*t on any PC and it will be buggy. Hell, I would be impressed if you could emulate Xbox (original) or PS2 games without bugs and slowdowns. Even that is impossible currently. Fireman
PCSX2 actually functions really well on current, average spec'd gaming PC's. Wouldn't suprise me if the PS3 emulator would run fine on a very high-end PC right now.

PS4 has something equivalent of a 750 ti and considering this is a PS3 game, 4K is far, far away from now on this emulator.

DEALUX
I tried it and it ran under 20-30 FPS most of the time and there were sound bugs and visual bugs if I remember correctly. DEALUX
I can't remember. I think I tried Vice City Stories since I have the Stories games on PS2 and while it worked the performance was...well, the game was unplayable. There's tutorials on YouTube. I think you need some BIOS files or something that you are supposed to get from your own PS2 but if you look hard enough you can find them online. Edited June 22, 2016 by Kristian. Kristian was already talking about PS2 emulation when you asked him your question, hence his answer. Anyway, this isn't really anything special to be honest. Emulation has been around for ages and it'll be a buggy work in progress for at least another decade. Edited June 22, 2016 by TalkingPear
CrysisAverted
Well my pc specs are much better than the dude in the video's so hopefully I can run above 15 fps...I'll give this thing a shot later if there seems to be optimizations. I can already play these on my Playstation herp derp etc. Good news, I guess? yeah me too, but I'd have to hook up my PS3 and sh*t this is just convenient as f*ck, now I can comfortably play PS1/PS2/PS3 games on one platform and not have a bunch of f*cking consoles out with cables everywhere

I'd rather just plug in some cables (or better yet, never unplug them in the first place) and be done with it, but maybe that's just me.

RogerWho
I'm having a hard time believing this. RPCS3... I haven't followed it for a while but 2 years ago this thing could run just simple tech demos and now it's supposedly running Uncharted 3? Sounds like nonsense. PS2 and GC/Wii emulators have been in development for ages and they still can't run a lot of games well. I'd love to be proved wrong of course, emulation FTW. Can someone try it out? I don't have a BD drive. Edited June 24, 2016 by RogerWho
Pat
It's not really a fair comparison, to be honest. PS2 emulation is difficult because we still don't really understand how the Emotion Engine works. Compare that to Dolphin, which runs amazingly despite emulating a console from the same generation as the PS2, and you'll see what I mean. Hell, even Wii U emulation is already good enough for a few select games to be playable at decent resolutions and frame rates. That being said, though, I am also skeptical about this. Emulating the Cell processor is going to present the same complications that held PS2 emulation back for so long. I hope it's legit, though, if for no other reason than to finally play RDR at a modern resolution and decent frame rate.

I haven't followed it for a while but 2 years ago this thing could run just simple tech demos and now it's supposedly running Uncharted 3? Sounds like nonsense. Same. Also I posted a thread about this emulator 2 years ago: http://gtaforums.com/topic/696052-rpcs3-a-ps3-emulator Back then it could barely run simple games, but looking at the site here: http://rpcs3.net/ you could see the progress they've made so far. Searching the site for God of War 3, Uncharted, and The Last of Us yields nothing. Also in the About section of the site there's this: No, we don’t officially support commercial. RPCS3 is still in an early stage of development. A lot of features required to run commercial games still have not been implemented. Commercial games will be supported when the hardware/firmware emulation is accurate enough to run them. It all depends on the amount of developers working on this project, their skills, and free time, etc. so ignore any estimates and guesses you find out there. So yeah, the OP and those videos are complete nonsense and reminds me of the Youtube videos of people playing GTA V on PC via a 360/PS3 emulator.
