Still fed up with the 'Everybody' Left Issue

Joined three different sessions today, one had maybe 16 people the next a few more and the last only 6, each one I was in less than 5 minutes before it started stuttering and freezing before "everybody" Left and I was in a session by myself. Seriously this is not an issue of me not having the Bandwidth, I'm on Fios with 50-60 up and down depending on the time of day. More than likely is the idea that on any server I might end up on most of the players are in a far away foreign country speaking an unintelligible language ( Like the first one I joined), which means that the ping will be extremely high. Any game that has a server browser you'd normally and reasonably pick one with a low ping but GTAO doesn't give you that option. I think it's time that this changed, we need an option to limit connections to servers (for lack of a better term) with high pings, I know maybe some don't have much of a choice for various reasons but given the choice I would pick performance over population, I would rather take the entire US from coast to coast over a connection to Russia or the Middle East or Far East because not only do I not speak their language I can't get a decent game that doesn't eventually kick everyone out. Anyone else think this is a valid suggestion?

is your NAT type strict or Type 2? It's the biggest reason behind disconnections.

To be honest, it'll happen regardless where you live. Just an issue it seems Rockstar isn't interested in.

You'll have better luck at hunting Martians, than Rockstar ever giving us dedicated servers. I have FIOS too, and I run into the same issues a few times a week.

Let me try and explain. Rockstar chose a Peer to Peer networking solution that best fit their needs.

 

To make sure their players had a consistently reliable experience they looked at the possible range of connection speeds allowable that still lets one play.

 

But one of the down sides of any networking is your speed is only as fast as your slowest connection.

 

So while you may have the bestest connection in the whole widest world, the game wont care. R* looked at all the results and found a range of least impact and scoped their system to segregate any connections outside of that range. For example:

 

Lets say the total range of bandwidth is 0 Mbps to 50 Mbps. They saw that 99% of the time users between 10-20 Mbps never saw a problem. So they told the system if it falls outside of that range, isolate them so they dont bring everyone down.

 

Your connection creates a degradation for others because its such an outlier compared to the average user. You could consider yourself lucky. Some folks would prefer your situation.

 

P.S. Network Address Translation (NAT) type has no bearing on the conversation. NAT is how you have more than one device connected to the internet out of your home/business.

I recently upgraded to fios as well and my plan is the 50mbps one. The other day I was constantly having the same issue for a strong 10 minutes. I stopped and never happened again. This is defiantly a rockstar issue because all of my other games online are fine.

This issue is happening because players are deliberately using lagswitch of sorts to get the lobby for theirselves, so this is not on your end OP, you can relax.

Check your packet loss. I had a problem with mine and whe I fixed it, this stopped.
