What's the point to having multiple Flares?

For the CEO Buy mission where you go to the Drop Zone, and chuck a flare for the plane. What's the purpose to having multiple ones? The plane comes the same whether I throw 1, or all of them. They also seem to stack to cause I'll get that mission a few times, and I'll see about 15 Flare's in my Inventory.

the difference between flaregun and thrown flares , the flaregun does hurt someone if stepped on the flares while thrown flares can't be thrown straight path or even higher than flaregun

The flaregun can be used to signal the drop as well by firing it into the target area.

 

I would assume if you arrive without flares (either hand held or rounds for the gun) you will have to wait for someone to swing by ammunation to pick some more flare ammo.

hummm, a simpler test will be just wait at the drop zone doing nothing and see will it time out or automatically drops the crates for you

You just get those other flares wich you have to place on the ground. I didnt have a flare gun when that mission started, went to the location, and those ground flares where added to my weapon wheel.

I didn't realize that we have throwable flares! I've just used the flare gun. Damn I'm dumb. I even thought that wording is a bit off in assistants message.
