But that may be because father was away most of the time when I was growing up. Mom was so good that I never felt his absence. She did put in so much of hard work after me. Back when I was in the fourth grade we had to make a fathers day project. My teacher was actually a family friend since all of my brothers and sisters went to the same elementary school before me. Anyway, she knew my father had passed away so she told me that I didn't have to do the project if I didn't want to. But I wanted to do something for my dad, so I decided to write a letter to him. ( yes, even though I knew he was dead ) I don't quite remember what the letter had said but I do remember that we visited his gravestone at the cemetery and that I had left it there. Then the very next day I walked outside and found my letter sitting right in front of the door to our house. I have no idea how it had found it's way back to my house. I didn't even have my name on it so that someone could return it. Anyway, that's my fathers day story. Have a happy father's day fathers!!! I thank my dad for giving me and my siblings a safer future, by moving out of a country where we would have been persecuted because of political reasons. I kinda feel like everyone I know had a more difficult relationship with their father but in my case I do have a lot to be thankful for even though my parents had plenty of flaws. I kept the good stuff I learned from them and then I also learned from their mistakes. I don't want to end up like my father, a distant and mostly uninvolved parent, but I also don't want to end up being an emotional wreck like my mother tended to be. If I'll ever find the right woman and we'll decide to have children, then I want to be the cool supportive kind of dad.
