SomeGuy86
So first of all, let me get something clear, because I don't want any misunderstandings here. The game I'm asking for had already been activated online, date check had been confirmed & all the legal stuff had been met & complied. In fact, I've been playing the game online for a while now, so therefore it's more than obvious that the game is genuine & its activation code authentic. Now, with that being said, I'd like to know something - is there a way (or a patch, official or non-official) to run the game offline & cut all the communications with the Rockstar servers for good? Because running the game "offline" seemed to work for a while until (earlier today), the game refused to start & asked me to log in, so that it would confirm my activation yet again & update to a latest version. And that's exactly what I don't want, I've had it with these continuous updates and authenticity checks every now & then. Seriously, it's either offline for me, or to wipe the entire game off the hard drive! Not to mention all these downloads & updates are messing up my inet data plan, but that's another story. PS, this isn't Steam version, it's just a regular DVD (boxed, retail) copy, that's already been updated 5 or 6 times, each time with huge & massive patches which usually take several hrs just to download (and approx. additional 20 minutes to install)
BondageKitty
Go to commandline.txt in the game folder, if it's not there, make it. Write in a line "-scOfflineOnly" Save. Play.
SomeGuy86
Go to commandline.txt in the game folder, if it's not there, make it. Write in a line "-scOfflineOnly" Save. Play. Getting "Unable to access Rockstar servers. Activation of GTA V requires an internet connection" error message, even without adding "commandline.txt" into the game (root) folder. Which doesn't really seem to do anything, damn thing still wants to update & activate. Really! I've been playing damn game for couple of months now, you'd think one activation would have been enough. Especially since I was one of the "lucky ones" to get that invalid activation key which resulted with activating that weird alien game, XCOM2. Rockstar, themselves activated the game later on, on my behalf & apologized for all the nonsense .
BondageKitty
I know that to play offline you have to at least run the game once online and set the password to be remembered but it sounds like your problem is something way bigger. So, what you're saying is that the game shouldn't be doing that? Good, finally one step closer to fixing this nonsense. Should I contact Rockstar tech support & report this as a bug/problem? SomeGuy86
Rockstar doesn't have support so good luck. OK, I might have used the wrong term... Their customer support, or whatever they are called already addressed my issue with invalid activation key, as stated in the 1st post. As I recall, the guy was called Rodney, he addressed most of my questions & problems before he passed my case to another co-worker from other department. Edit OK, I've opened up the support "ticket" and explained the situation to their support team. If this one doesn't work out, I swear I'm going to blend GTAV in a blender! Sorry, I misunderstood you, Misunderstood But seriously, not sure I'd agree on this one... Last time their customer support helped me quite a lot, they've been more than fair (and polite), even offered to give me some extra online "cash", to compensate for activation issues & invalid activation key. So I hope they'll be kind enough to answer me again, because this whole GTA V thing is becoming really absurd & driving me crazy.

SomeGuy86
Well, so much for Rockstar's support. I finally got their answer the other day & it said this: (in response to my complaint regarding the activation problem, having to authenticate the game every time over & over) "Hi DodoPilot,Thanks for contacting Rockstar Support. You’re receiving this automatic ticket update because you have an outstanding ticket in the Rockstar Games Support system. We wanted to check in with you to see if you still have a question or issue that needs attention from us. For your convenience, please review our GTAV knowledge base with many solutions to common GTAV and GTA Online console or PC issues: We also offer solutions for other games:If you still have a question or problem, we sincerely apologize for the delay. Please respond to this message and a Technical Support Agent will review your ticket and get back to you as soon as possible. Please note that you must respond to this message if you still need help.Best regards,Rockstar Support" Obviously, I still DO need their help, and i kinda respect that they've told me to get in touch with them for further information, but at this point I just no longer care about GTAV - they've made this far too complicated. The game itself will be uninstalled & DVDs are either going to trash or I might turn them into ornaments... One way or another, this is sincerely the last game that I've bought from Rockstar. Come to think of it, they didn't have a decent GTA release since San Andreas in 2005 so I'm not going to miss them.
