Meanwhile on Xbox every lobby has at least one transferred account with modded stats.

All of the truly game-changing modded stats (reserve ammo, snacks, reserve armor, modded roll) have been patched. They don't have any edge over you unless you're monumentally broke (in which case, git gud).

Glitched invisible bodies, on the other hand...

So why wouldn't Rockstar demand identity confirmation, like ID copy or something?

Wait, i got it: this would rob them of all the underage audience, since the game is rated as M.

Because they can make far more money when repeat offenders buy their 2nd, 3rd, 4th....infinity + 1 retail copies of the game

Haven't you noticed that even after the nearly 3 years since GTAV shipped, the game's retail price is still holding its value on places like Steam? GTAO price tag is still $60 USD the last time I checked on there. Yep. R* has been definitely #lmao since GTAO went live......all the way to the bank

DarkSavageDeathlyCloud

"rockstar getting serious about cleaning up...."

i stopped reading there

even if the people behind that specific cleanup have good intentions, pc will be f*cked up untill they come with a propper anti-cheat mesurement....or either they need to have an efective ban wave every month for all coming years gta5's gtao has on pc....wich i dont see happening

Well they aren't "just banning", they have been constantly upgrading their anti-cheat program.

if so its seems its easy to avoid it

there has not been a moment were cheaters have been completely gone for more then 1 month yet

bad fail is bad

R* needs to allow PC players to play with mods and get over it.

Only reason to play on PC is for mods IMO. Give players a MODDED lobby to join that has no connection to their GTA stats and game and just give it up R*.

Some of the mods out now are f*ckin amazing. More vehicles... more skins... more areas. Waiting for R* bullsh*t of new content is like watching paint dry and then flake off..

No. I DO think that Rockstar should officially allow PC players to use graphic enhancement mods, like sweetfx, etc. But allow any random game-affecting mods, and it would make GTAO a sh*thole.

Thats sort of the wrong mentality to have. if you're playing on PC with so many modders out there actually making great mods.

R* needs to make a way for players to have fun with mods 'together' and not just in single player... Or R* can have fun trying to fix their game on PC for the rest of their damn lives.

There should be official lobbies That forces players to play legit in. And optional modded lobbies where one player hosts and can invite players too his modded fun room.

You thinking its a sh*t hole sort of boggles my mind.. New areas.. new effects.. new cars... new missions... New characters.... Thats not a sh*t hole, thats f*ckin heaven.

Seriously... https://www.gta5-mods.com/

I mean R* mods their game all the time... They just do it for cash cards while modders do it for fun and the love of the game For example theres plenty of mods that open interiors up that don't exist and give it a life of its own.. Like night clubs.

Modders be like.. "Check out these night clubs" WIth new interiors and dancers..and npcs.

R* be like. "No night clubs allowed... Nope.. Nope Nope.." Infact R* locks up all interiors and doesn't give a rats ass.

They won't ever do that, for three reasons:

1) Modifying the game incorporates both good and bad mods.

2) The community would destroy their Shark card model outright. Mechanical modelling is one of the more simple forms of modelling. Community content developers could put out tens of new vehicles per month if given free rein to do so, and for no cost. Adversary Modes are well within the reach of the average coder. This is likely why they nuked Multi Theft Auto and all other projects like it - the community can and will outperform your entire development team if given the chance.

3) They would not be able to dictate the gameplay anymore.

Back in the day, this was how old-school games like Unreal operated. The power is in the server owner's hands - not in the original developer's. The vast majority of servers were custom and used community maps because those were the best, as well as whatever mutators and additions the server owner deemed fit. Good servers live, bad servers die, just like in any place where the community has free choice. Most importantly, this removes the vulnerability to developers that don't listen. Top server admins implement tweaks and code to fix the issues that the original developer could or would not.

Same on PS4. Invisible bodies outrageous levels and KD stats. I report each one I see. I can't believe that R* can't write a simple script to automatically ban the most obvious ones.

For the last time, these are the least of our worries, the only amount of griefing they can cause is the same amount of griefing a high level player can cause as well, most of these modded accounts only want to enjoy the toys in GTA Online because of how expensive everything is.

Not once ever has one of these fake high level cheaters ever improved my game experience. They are the ones who join heists/jobs then fail and rage quit, and do NOTHING but troll others in free roam.

I can understand a fake level 120 to unlock everything and cash, but picking some unbelievable high number is the sign of someone with real problems. That's when you cross the line from just want to play around with some things but haven't got time or money for shark cards to "look at me, I'm a big shot". The latter personality type is nothing but trouble. The former typically get bored quickly and move on, the latter just seem to cling on like a stubborn dingle-berry.

They should auto-ban anybody who runs around with an animal mask while they're at it. That's pretty much the litmus test of whether or not someone has hit puberty yet.

Well like i said.. Modded lobbies would have no ties to legit lobbies. Nothing saves, nothing carrys over.. No one gets punished.. Its just for fun. So basically it does not matter at all if you look at it like that.

Player would have to host a 'modded' lobby then invite players to it. Its not a public lobby and has not direct tie in with GTA O 'legit" Its a private game.. hosted by a single player

I mean its already being done anyways.. in single player. Why does it matter of a few friends come along for the ride? Is it a no friends allowed rule?

The invite could be a big BIG POP up saying "R* is not responsible for anything in game and no progress is saved do you wish to continue?. Which would cover R* ass and the players ass.

Maybe i want to get mauled to death by angry giant poodles... Not sure the big deal. :D

Microtransactions have made this business model all but obsolete.

That said, doesn't micro imply small? People shelling out 100$ for shark cards sort of steps outside the bounds of "micro" in my definition. Is the MACROtransaction game model the future of online gaming? That's a cancer with no cure since people seem more than willing to keep paying.

Lmao @ at the xb1 and ps4 reporters, they have not 1 single advantage over you besides there outfits/cars look better then yours. Sounds like a bunch of cry baby shx lol. PC, I can see why y'all are complaining and fed up, y'all have players with actual mod menus, well had as far as I know, but current gen has nothing to cry about, take your licks and keep on ticking.

Do you ever play heists and rely on random people joining to get through it?

Lots of people do. A higher rank *OFTEN* (but not always) means a better player because they've had more experience of the game and are more accustomed to things. A higher rank is less likely to be kicked from a heist or setup, as a lower rank. On PC, I've had many heists fail because the high ranked person used "cheats" to get to where they were and I've sent messages to people when they fail so many times, or even leave and they're like "oh, I didn't know this or that" and I'm thinking... "but you're over rank 500, how can you not know!?"

Just one example. Sorry, I know I should be in the Bitch and Moan thread ;)

on PC it was really bad before the last update but IMO a cheater is a cheater regardless if it's full on godmode or just invisible arms. They're both putting effort into getting an illegitimate advantage.

If anything the PC players at least stood a chance to benefit from generous cheaters. Not that I'm defending cheaters, just saying on PC there were good and bad cheaters, on CG console I don't think they can't cheat to benefit anyone else, just themselves.

Rockstar is actively banning now, not waiting for major updates. Some sweet tears from today:

I don't understand why I was banned forever.I am not cheater.

I was banned three times recently, first time is a man I don't know to give me moneybag with his gun,It's my first time play the GTAV ONLINE,and I was banned the next day. It's 10 days.Second time is after the ban,I just play GTAV ONLINE a few day,I was banned again,It's a month, but this time I really not cheat.Third time is same as second time,I was banned forev

Please remove my ban!

i was banned in 7\6\2016 this month entil 6\7\2016 and i tryied to get more money with cheat engine so i will have more money for the new update. and i was stupied for trying this. i wont do this again i swear. all my friend are playing and i dont and i miss al the funny parts. please remove my ban and i wont do this ever again PLEASEer,I am not cheater,I hope remove the ban.

The best ban systems will collect data from your machine which can be used to profile you, by the way. So if you have any privacy / intrusion concerns to raise, don't bother, because this is already happening.

Does that honestly make it okay, in your mind - it's already happening so let it continue? Where are my f*cking slaves then?

I've already posted the most effective prevention method, so banning would be unnecessary.

Yes, it does make it okay. I see both sides of the coin, as I've been an administrator on servers which employ better ban measures than the simple IP address / MAC address / GUID type solution. There are many people that were prevented from ruining those servers thanks to these measures. Against those players, we would have run out of weapons and had nothing left with which to stop them, leaving our servers at the mercy of cheaters.

I couldn't give a damn about the privacy complaints. When the NSA for example tell you that they're not interested in your data, even if they collect it, they're telling you the truth. Most people are not that interesting. Admins don't care about anyone who joins their servers enough to bother with fishing through sensitive data, and a proper implementation will be very limited, collecting only data which would suffice for uniquely identifying a given user.

What you're proposing (streaming games) has been tried and it failed horrifically - it's called the thin client solution. In that model, your PC acts as an input terminal and a renderer of a video stream. It is worthless for three main reasons:

- Cost. Someone has to pay for the hardware upon which the game runs. If a hundred thousand people play a given game simultaneously, your company has to purchase enough hardware to process that for them, as well as maintaining and powering it. The player's PC is idling while they play.

- Input lag. Most games would be completely unplayable because of input lag. The input you send to the remote stream has to be processed and returned to you, which results in a very noticeable delay between your movement (for example, to aim) and seeing that movement reflected upon your PC. Even small amounts of input lag are intolerable for gaming.

- Bandwidth. The bandwidth requirements and limitations in terms of framerate of attempting to stream video at high resolution and quality are too much.

A huge problem with people weighing in against the measures necessary to secure games is that, like with national security, these people only see one side of the coin. You'll find them complaining to block invaluable methods of dealing with the problem, but you'll also find them knocking on your door to complain over the cheaters (or terrorists in the national security example) which inevitably arise. When you find yourself on the other side of the fence, you understand exactly why this is necessary and exactly why it's not a problem.

Perfect solutions do not exist. There is compromise in everything. This compromise is one that I'll happily make.

A majority of modders are not playing the way you suggest. They are malicious and ruining the experience that people are trying to have. Every single time I've run into a modder in this game (which used to be unbelievably common before the CEO update), they have been malicious. They would spawn sh*t, spawn money, blow up players in the lobby, teleport onto your vehicle, spawn sh*t to the point of the game crashing, and even put all the blame on you and force players to report you and even get you banned for not doing a single thing.

Modders are terrible cheating scum... they're bringing crime... they're rapists..

and some.. I assume.. are good people...

We Are Ninja

...isn't it funny how there appears to be ZERO buzz about where GTA VI will be? Unlike the massive speculation about where GTA V was going to be located and who/what locations would be featured in it, the fan base seems completely indifferent to the 6th gen sequel of the franchise...

Probably because most players are too busy enjoying themselves in Los Santos to waste their time aimlessly (and pointlessly) speculating about a game that won't be out for another three or four years...
