For me, there's many factors that contribute to what I'd consider my favourite and least favourite decades in music. While it's easy to take a swipe at the Bandcamp generation and the legions of manufactured pop queens polluting our charts and turning our children into haemorrhaging Emoji drones, music has never been so successful. If your basis on this generation being the worst is pop and your evidence is the Billboard chart, you're not looking hard enough for music you like. For every genre introduced in any decade of music, there are ten times as many bands that have emerged that take what you love and run with it, taking influences from styles you have never even considered to be entertaining. If you liked music in the 1960s and 1970s, yes, it was considered a turning point but you can forget about opening Spotify next time you fancied a spliff and a lie down. Music is everywhere now, and there's a lot of it. By saying this is the worst generation there is is to openly admit you're lazy and expect to be spoon fed. This generation is the best for me because everything that has ever existed in music still exists and is readily available to listen to whenever you want to, along with new finds to quench your thirst and answer the question "what if The Pet Shop Boys were... I don't know... heavier?"

I know that's not the point of the poll, I just wanted to air my frustrations over people that claim we're living in the worst era of music since cavemen started banging their bones on walls and expected dinosaurs to pay $9 for a primitive shellac pressing with no B-sides. All that being said, I love what people were doing for music in the 1980s and 1990s. More genres were being explored, and people tend to count these decades as being widely influential without losing their relevancy. I still love what's being made today, but I know music is made with one foot in your studio and your head stealing subtle glances over your shoulder at what everyone else has done, whether it repels you or causes to make something that sounds similar.

Fuzzknuckles

60s, 70s, 80s, 90s.

Music died in 2001.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

sh*t, to be able to make a fair decision, I'd have to listen to A LOT of music from each decade, and then try to find all the hidden gems too from each decade.

1. 2000s *Took part of my childhood, R&B Times <3*

2. 1990s *Some pretty cool stuff* *I don't know about putting it above the 80's*

3. 1980s *Synthwave and some other good sh*t*

4. 1950-40s *Mafia II showed me examples* *I have a thing for 40's style*

5. 1970s *Nothing that really interests me*

6. 2010s I hate it. *Ew to Lady Gaga, Meghan Trainor, Carly Rae Jepsen (Mentioning the most annoying, I'm not sexist. These are just the examples that came into my mind) and others...*

PS: This is a matter of opinion... Varies from age to age.

I've had contact with many era's of music thanks to Rockstar/Family/Friends.

This is mostly about Mainstream music, Pop music. After 2010 I started listening to EDM, can't go back to Pop stuff.

Femme Fatale

My favorite music eras are the 70s and 80s, and my least favorite is 2010...I grew up listening to my mom's music, which was disco(the 70s), and Wham! and other 80s pop groups...I also prefer the 80s because of Death, Venom, Celtic Frost, Possessed, and other extreme metal bands that emerged during that decade...And I despise the 2010s music scene because of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and all of that crap...

e: scratch that, redeemed by dank hip hop

1.1970's

2.1960's

3.1980's

4.1950's

5.1990's

6.2000's

7.2010's

70's are the best songs made sense and had real meaning in their lyrics, it took effort to make, and the music can really take you away.

2010's are the worst the songs mean nothing besides having a big butt, killing or disrespecting. people, sex, or being rich. It takes little talent just put in a generic beat, random ass lyrics and some autotune and your a "star".

Mister Pink

Good music sticks around. Living in the now, we experience all the sh*t that will die off and be forgotten about. Then in the future, the 00's and 10's wont seem as bad as they do now. Also, some of the pop music that survived from the 60's and 70's is pretty good to us now but we may have been slagged by our equivalent friends and peers of today, back then for listening to it. For example, I remember my friend was talking with some original hippie from back in the 60's/70's and they were giving my friend stick over listening to Jefferson Airplane as they were a silly "pop band." But to us, they were all cool retro bands.

It's kinda like some dude in the future, lets say 40 years time, might listen to Pantera, Blur, Pearl Jam and Tame Impala or something but also listens to Nickleback but think he's listening to cool retro 90's and 00's music but he's so far removed from the time that he doesn't realise how dickish Nickleback are haha :p

But whatever, I think there's good music around now more than ever, logically. Access to the internet and availability of music etc. However, I'm still only mostly listening to music from 60's/70's/80's/90's as there's just so much to discover. I'm quite nostalgic and love hearing the origins and how rock music split in to different ways, why grunge came about after spandex rock and watching Hip Hop develop and emerge to what it is etc. I don't see as much fun keeping up with exclusively new music.

I know people that are just obsessed with new local music. I always found that strange.

Over about 10 to 15 years I was going through the decades slowly without even realising so much. I used to listen to loads of Beatles, The Doors, Jethro Tull, and Woodstock artists going through to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Yes and then on to 80's with Depeche Mode and then 90's was my childhood.

Kind doing the same with electronic music but always have a facisnation of the origins or particular pop music genres.. Kraftwerk, Telex, 80's New Wave, 90's Acid House and Techno to Aphex Twin.. Urgh! I'm boring myself talking about music hahaha

That's my answer and I can't pick one. I'm ever evolving and changing all the time.

Some of my favorite stuff is from the 00's and 10's, so I can't really diss the decades because of all the bad pop music. Focus purely on the good stuff from each decade, then vote on the poll :p

Not A Nice Person

I like this decade of music (2010s, 2000 music was too oversatured), Ive grown up to it and there are a lot of hidden gems (impossible, right?), but other than that 80's 90's, and in some cases 50's.

I have always been a big 80s pop and new wave fan so will go with the 80s most of my favourites started or were in their prime then also.

Depeche mode, Tears For Fears, Phil Collins, Prince, etc

But it's hard to say a worst decade because I honestly enjoy pretty much all genres of music on some level, except that Screamo metal crap where they just SCREAM absolute sh*t, but one minute I could be listening to Tangerine Dream the next Marvin Gaye, so there is no worst decade if you think music is dead I guarantee you have just not looked hard enough.
