Buff the Savage

I know things in this game don't usually get improvements, they just get nerfed, but the savage is useless. There are far more cons to owning it than pros. I would really like to know the logic behind R*'s design decision when it comes to vehicles. The brickade is a re-skinned RV, the tank has practically no armor, and helicopters are made of cray paper.

Cons:

  • Slow. Easily chased down by god-mode robo cop aether-spawning choppers that suicide into you.
  • Front machine gun is useless and awkward to control. It's virtually impossible to kill anything with it unless you plow yourself into the ground, or flail around in the air
  • Armor is non-existent. Civilian town cars can take 10x the damage as this war machine if not more. A brainless A.I. from a level-1 mission underneath your chopper with a starter pistol is a death sentence.
  • Missiles in this game barely lock on, even with a full lock, rendering it's main selling point (that is the 0-sec cooldown for rockets) "meh" at best.
  • It's gigantic. Landing this anywhere besides perfectly flat surfaces is a nightmare.
  • Utterly useless in PvP. A brand new player with a sub-machine gun on a rooftop would kill you before you even knew where they are. But in reality, you're just going to get tagged with a homing launcher from a mile away.

Pros:

  • Looks kinda cool.

because it is a air to air helicopter.

Except missiles which work air to ground.

I'd prefer the buzzard if you want air to ground offense or better, the Valkyrie.

also why would you complain about an aircraft released almost a year ago?

Why does the savage need to be buffed? Your only pro is it looks kind of cool? Dude, that thing has explosive rounds and can shoot more missiles per minute than the buzzard. In addition, a lot of the cons apply to all attack choppers in this game. Since the missiles rarely lock on, does that mean the hydra and buzzard should be buffed? Hell no. Since there's a homing launcher in-game, does that mean only the savage should get a buff? Still no. Also, you said the machine gun is hard to kill with? I hope this doesn't offend yiu, but if you can't destroy anything with explosive rounds, how the hell do you destroy anything at all?

I admit the savage has it's issues, but I kill plenty of ground targets with it. Usually dead before I hear their first homing launcher beep, what usually gets me in the savage is poor spawning points after i kill a player ( player spawns right behind me ), suicide police helicopters as you mentioned, a spread out cluster of other players, or god for bid my blades tip the top of a tree.

For me the savage is my choice for ground targets

In the air i prefer the buzzard or you could just go full asswipe and use a hydra or better yet a lazer and kill all air and ground targets, but to me the savage is the most fun to get kills in. Nothing beats using a building as cover then laying down explosive rounds on your opponents face only to go back behind the building to do it all over again.

The only buff Savage needs is armour. I don't think a helicopter based on the Hind should be this weak against bullets.

The offensive capabilities are adequate.

Why does the savage need to be buffed? Re-read the cons list

Great, it can shoot a ton of missiles, big deal. It doesn't have independent locking at they are probably less than 20% accurate, especially when a car going mph outruns the rockets.

Does that mean hydra and buzzard need a buff? Yes, in regards to missile locking the game needs to be fixed.

I think helicopters should have counter measures like flares, ECM jammer etc...

Yes, it has explosive rounds...that are tied to the nose of the helicopter, making them awkward to control. They aren't hard to kill with once you actually get point where you want to go, but it's incredibly awkward to control.

Pros:

Contra cons:

- flying robocops can be sawed down with the cannon before they come close.

- the cannon attached to Savage is like wielding a heavy f*ck-everything sword, you need to use its momentum to swing it the right way. Don't fight the wobble, use it. Also, strafe.

- the aimbot AI is the reason why you keep strafing or be outside the range. With copilot though, you can target missiles at target directly underneath you, you are safe as long you're in his dead angle.

- you shower the streets with unarmed missiles, while strafing, otherwise, yea, not even the missile lauchers or revolvers are your death, but Marksman Rifles.

So? That's only marginally more deadly than the auto locking.

Co-pilot needs independent control of the front gun. The way the actual chopper works. Also, the driver and gunner seats need to be reversed.

If the op is on PS4 I can show you how to use it with fewer issues. In fact if you think its that bad,we can jump in an invite only session. You be the ground target, i'll be in the Savage. What do you say first player to 10 kills?

The missiles can be targeted at advanced angles, mean, directly underneath you. All you need is a capable gunner.

The Hind, the real one, has a hardmounted tri-barrel cannon, that cannon be swung around, unlike the MGs of Apache or Havoc, for example.

Apropos Havoc. This thing is properly armored. Look at this.

well , the camera view allows co-pilot shoot even vertical downward , allowing ground assailant instead has bad angle of aiming and enabling bombardment . in case you didn't knew , co-pilot inability to use the missile was fixed few patches ago

I'm not really sure what that picture is supposed to be showing but being able to shoot missiles directly underneath you would be great, but by the time you even got a visual on a target directly under you, they've probably already taken your chopper down, or rendered it useless.

To me, the Savage has always been an anti tank weapon in freemode with the cannon/off radar, and a contact mission missile spammer.

If you are a piss poor pilot (like most players) then I would agree with you. If you know what you are doing, you can get quite a few kills before you are taken down.

I don't see how.

All a tank has to do is go under an overpass to hide from missiles, and by the time the savage gets within machine gun distance the tank can snipe it out of the air.

K bud, whatever you say.

I fly the jet(s) primarily. The helicopters are a novelty used mainly for missions and transportation. Bringing a savage to an open lobby is suicide. Sure you MIGHT get one or two kills, but every kid in there is going to pull out marksman rifles or the homing launcher the moment they see you in a savage.

Going off radar works for anyone with an explosive weapon. That doesn't make the savage anti-tank.

Also, if I were in the tank, I'd go off radar as well, or just go passive when I saw that prompt pop-up. It's always hilarious watching someone burn $15k on ghost organization only to run into me sitting there, unkillable. If you need to go off radar to get me, you aren't going to get me at all. Haha.

Sure bro, if I'm in the savage before you are in that jet, I will get a lot more than 1 or 2 kills on you. Also helicopters are far from a novelty in a public lobby. I've brought down many jets with a buzzard and I am primarily in a buzzard in freeroam doing VIP/CEO missions. I'm a lvl 740 on my main character and a lvl 230 on my secondary character, with 80,000 player kills. quite a few of those came from helicopters. Typical noobs just learn the jet and are useless out of them. The proof to that is in your original post and all the other nonsense there after.

Several people including myself has given you tips and ideas as well as offered to show you. seems like you just want to bitch and moan about how bad you are.

Wow, look at the pseudo e-peen on this one huh?

Nobody has given tips so much as explained why they liked it. All of my cons stand.

"Typical noobs just learn the jet" This tells me that jets usually kill you out of your buzzard and that's why they're "noobs" if they'd just get into your favorite inferior vehicle you could totes show 'em right? Haha. Love it. Those "many jets" you brought down must have had no idea what they were doing.

There's no proof of anything. I started a thread talking about the Savage, and its laundry list of weaknesses, and you started in with "1 v 1 me bruh" level comments, after essentially agreeing with the weaknesses I mentioned.

you are implying that it is useless... It isn't

Yeah i've been killed by jets, everyone has. I've killed people in jets, everyone has. I've been in a jet and killed people, everyone has. Being in the most overpowered weapon in the game and getting kills isn't hard.

The 1v1 was to show you first hand, that the savage isn't useless if used properly.

Inferior vehicle? Depends on the application it's being used for as with all weapons in this game.

Seems to me that you still have a whole lot to learn.

I would say experience matters, clearly this guy can't get a kill in anything but a jet, perhaps getting more experience would help the OP?

A whole lot to learn? No. Been playing since 2013.

I can tell GTA is basically all you play, I mean it would have to be with levels like that, and I hate to break it to you, but the game isn't that complicated.

The buzzard is decent, mainly because it's fast. It's actually way faster than it should be because it can keep up with jets which is absurd.

My point is, that even when "used properly" the Savage falls short compared to other armed choppers in the game. Except maybe the Annihilator. Even the cargobob can take more of a beating than the savage.

Also, you're assuming you have all this cover to use. What about the desert?

Sure every weapon has an application it's meant for, but regardless there are still "best in slot" items/vehicles.

A 2013 veteran player and your answer to off radar is to go passive in your tank? Yikes.

Well I guess you know everything then... Wait why did you start this post again? was it to get answers or to bitch and moan about an armed aircraft you can't get kills in? I'm a little confused now with all this bitching and moaning, if only there was a pinned topic for something like this...
