I love the gambling. It would be pretty badass if there were some side missions opened up in relation to your gambling skill (or lack thereof). People in the gambling houses could treat you with a certain demeanor, comps on the house, courteous, or discourteous discourse, etc. Abuse of saving/never losing, or getting caught cheating mid-game, could and should get you beat up, and banned for life, from those running these establishments.

Panning for gold.

Spelunking with with tawdry rope, etc. Maybe crafting (or having better equipment crafted) out of animal pelt yields bigger bags, longer and more sturdy rope, that allows for greater exploration of a vast network of an underground cavern. Lighting, swimming, grappling skill, mystery, sanctuary, hunting/gathering, befriending, maybe some horror, all the while, that protagonist gets whiter and more sensitive to light, while spinning a nod to Plato's "allegory of a cave", would be pretty cool.

Learning how to read. Written words should be indistinguishable, until one convinces a (very hawt and kinda geeky) schoolteacher to help learn how to read. After some side games and smashing on her, your ability to peruse opens some doors in the game.

Panhandling.

Different ways of butchering your kills leads to different items to take. Better knives lead to better spoils.

My two main wishes are that single player isn't compromised at all in favour of Online and that the two fellas responsible for Redemption's amazing score return to work on the next one.

Woody Jackson has to be back.. He just has to be

DEDICATED SERVERS for online, for the love of god !

But how will R* make money selling gold nuggets? The $60 that millions of us will spend on the game is obviously not enough. For some reason R* needs more money so they'll botch the online in favor of making cash on shady microtransactions

Bow & Arrow is priority numero uno

Stealth capability, this'd go hand in hand with aforementioned bow, make getting to and catching bounties alive more tactical (quietly eliminating guards, shoot em in the leg to slow em down etc)

If the multiple levels of dead eye return, make it so we can choose which is active. I'd rather keep it at level 1 all game than even bother with auto or manual marking...

Make the hunting deeper & more meaningful, better shots garner more resources etc.

Repeatable, combat oriented side activities.

We should be able to break horses & sell them to the livery in town for a modest sum.

Get rid of lock on aiming for good. It should be something like Uncharted 4 or Gears Of War 4's aiming, which is a good balance between free aim and assist.

PvP will be much more interesting if they do

I just hope R* keeps the hand to hand melee non lethal. It was so much fun running around in RDR causing NPC brawls and playing King of the hill online.

Plus Revolver had bows and arrows - 2 games on, it should be able to have what that had back then.

Bring back snake oil as a weapon too.

And once more (because it's extremely important) - dedicated servers. Has to have them.

Have Rockstar focus on SP not just online. GTA Vs single player was good in my opinion but I wish Rockstar would have released a Dlc or something SP related for people who didn't like online.

I don't hope GTA V's physics are in RDR2.. :[

I still miss GTA IV's physics.

This makes zero sense in relation to RDR2. What physics are you referring to? RDR has no vehicles and the euphoria animations for characters in it far surpass GTA IV. We get it you like GTA IV vehicle physics over V. This is not a GTAV forum, must every gripe and dislike over that game be constantly channeled into every RDR discussion as well? It is in nearly every thread here and is becoming a real nuisance.

I mean since GTA V is Rockstar's last game, they might give RDR2 the same kind of physics. Of course I hope not. I also loved the physics in RDR. In GTA V everything feels so stiff...

- More customization over the main character. The ability to change the haircut, facial hair, individual clothes, etc. More like GTA V and less like RDR.

- More alive cities. In RDR I felt like there were nobody around.

- Body dismemberment (I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested). When you blow someone up, he disinetgrates like he would do in normal life, instead of laying in the floor with darker textures. And not just that, the could use it with bear attacks or when the train rolls over you.

- Some kind of a survival mode, or if possible, integrated in the main story as some sort of hunting mechanism that allows you to keep alive eating what you hunt. Kill for a living, literally.

That may be, but even Black Water felt lifeless during some moments. And a town like that shouldn't be I think. I mean, there was even this hotel and whatnot. The trailer does however show parts of the city with shopkeepers outside and animals chomping on eachother. That gives me some hope. What I am also hoping for is that every building will be accessible, plus each room within that building! Is it blocked by a wooden board? Man, just shoot that damn thing off!

There aren't many buildings as it is already in games like Redemption, so how hard is it to make interiors for them all? I always loved it if I could enter a building in Redemption, but HATED IT if they were blocked off.. Especially if the house had an interior which you could see through a window. Why can't I just break the window and climb in?

Im never gonna understand people who want to enter every single interior in a videogame.

It creates life to the game. it makes a world you can interact with, feel part of. I'll use GTAV for instance, it's a huge game so I understand where they have to cut down in areas, but to me it felt like a film set, kinda like the film set they have in Vinewood.

Obviously not every interior has to be accessible, which parallels to real life. But the old west didn't offer too much in security especially if you were the average man.

>Multiple player characters. The trailer hints at that with its "Magnificent Seven," and there's even more hints that this is Dutch's Gang: The Early Years

>Horses with personalities. They should be so much more than just transportation. Veteran warhorses who aren't skittish around gunfire and wild animals; wild mustangs that would just as soon buck, bite or boot you as to let you throw a saddle on them; nimble ponies that can outrun any posse; even old nags you can't even kick into a trot. Breaking broncs, trading horses, rodeos, horse racing, roping mustangs....all these are key elements in the Western genre, and would add so much variety and entertainment to gameplay

>Cowboy up. This is one of the most integral parts of the Western milieu, and offers so much adventure and gameplay. Cattle drives should be the epic events they historically were. Trails that stretched hundreds of miles across multiple states and territories; riding herd, cutting strays, defending against attacks by Indians and rustlers; losing the herd in a stampede; roping steers, wild bull riding in rodeos....all that

>Escorting wagon trains. Opening up the West to settlement is another key feature of the Western. Great opportunities for gameplay in escorting wagon trains across the plains and mountains and guarding against raids by Indians and bandits. Fording rivers should be an epic event unto itself. And dysentery....obviously

>Prospecting. From panning in streams to setting up major mining camps with hydraulic flumes blasting gold out of the rock, mining should be a detailed minigame that can make you rich or leave you busted and broke. With the option, of course, of jumping claims and taking gold the old fashioned way

>Native Americans. Goes without saying. If this is a prequel, the West should be full of a wide variety of tribes, not just the handful of curiously misplaced Apache in the snow-capped mountains of Cochinay from RDR1. Indian raids and all-out wars should be a major part of the story, and players can opt to go native themselves to help the tribes reclaim their land, or become Indian fighters and protect forts and settlements. And of course broaden our weapon variety with native bows, war clubs, tomahawks, lances and the like.

>Heists. The strategy required doesn't need to be nearly as elaborate as GTA5, but robbing banks, trains and even stagecoaches should be a little more detailed than just shooting up the joint. The size of the bounty on your gang should be determined by just how skilled you manage to pull off the robbery.

>Expanded gambling. Winning a few dollars off an old cowhand in a back room at the ranch or hotel in a game of five-card stud was a fun diversion in RDR1, but you should be able to make an actual living off being a riverboat gambler (like my avatar namesake). Have different levels of play, ranging up to high-stakes tournaments worth thousands of $$$ on showboats and in the bigger towns. Include a wide variety of cheating options (vs. NPCs, not players). Expand gambling past just poker....have poker variants (7-card Omaha, draw poker, Texas hold'em, etc.), but also blackjack, roulette, craps and even those once popular games you've never heard of, like faro and chemin de fer. Allow for betting on horse races, bare knuckle fistfighting, turkey shoots, horseshoes and other side games.

>Detailed train physics. Again, make it more than transportation. There should be actual game physics involving a steam locomotive struggling up a mountain grade, or a player trying to rein in a runaway barreling down the slope with failing brakes. An actual train robbery should be a jaw-dropping sight to behold. Even allow the option of stopping a train (for robbery or other) with barricades or ripping up the tracks. Maybe even have the expansion of rail lines being entirely story-driven....i.e., you have to complete certain sidequests to open a rail line to a distant town, etc.

>Steampunk expansion. Not as part of the main game; but just as RDR1 crossed over into the horror genre with zombies, RDR2 could have an expansion pack that goes all League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen/Wild Wild West with Jules Verne tech.

BUT THE BENZ

I would certainly enjoy cinematic over the top sequences as seen in Max Payne 3. Like when you hang upside-down from a helicopter, get pulled up up high into the air with a chain or rope, or slide down a corridor on a buggy or something - those 10 to 20 seconds of styled out choreographic frenzy were really awesome and I'd love to see that return in RDR 2.

I mentioned a scenario of a shootout in a saloon, you could put a little scripted stunt in there. As seen in MP3 it occurs/is trigger'd as you switch, seemingly fluent, from cutscene to gameplay. Those moments were lovely, just the right amount, not overdone.

With no regard as to whether they would work in SP/MP or both - here's what I'm hoping for...

- a complex perk system like FO4

- craftable weapons upgrades, bombs, food/drink etc

- higher density of NPCs in built up areas

- seasons

- deadeye to return

- no auto aiim ability AT ALL - 100% freeaim for a more difficult but immersive experience

- no "skin animal" animation; the most annoying part of RDR by a mile!

- non linear storymode/missions with different overall story endings. Eg. completing one mission will open up other mission threads but remove the ability to complete others

Misson A leads to Missions B&C which lead to Mission D is too linear and stifling, non linear missions would more likely guarantee repeat playthroughs

- ability to join different gangs to open up different missions

- horse customization - something like BlOps3

creator would be cool

Open world games that offer both gameplay perspectives are stronger in replay value.

I will be shocked if First Person is not in RDR2. Both Third Person and First Person are complementary to one another in an open world game. That said I would also like to see:

*Hot air balloons

*Twin guns "dual wield'

*Good stealth mechanics

*Gore and dismemberment on the final shot that kills NPCs

For example, I unload my revolver on someones chest then the final shot that kills him should show blood and guts.

*Fishing and Hunting

*Side quests like helping Natives

*Free aim as the default aiming preference for RDR Online.

I'd like if we had to keep track of different types of ammo. Redemption sort of touched on that with 'carbine/rifle' and 'pistol/revolver' but that's it. I think it'd be more interesting if we had to keep track of the different types of ammo all together. Such as some rifles firing 45-70, some 45-90, some 50 calibre. Pistols ranging from 22 to 50 calibre. And differences between rimfire and centrefire. With the rare guns requiring rare and specific ammunition for them. Beyond that, I hope they continue the gun modifications from 5. Such as the types of sights, including Malcolm scopes, vernier/tang sights, and the ability to shorten or lengthen the barrel. Longest rifles up to 34 inches and shortest to 26, or something like that. Revolvers being 4.5-8. With accuracy increasing relative to barrel length, though making it slower to reload.

They probably won't do it, but it'd still be cool.

Beyond that, I'd like more flintlock and caplock or otherwise muzzle loaded long arms and short arms. We only got a Blunderbuss in Redemption, and was only used in UN. We got a Brown Bess in 5, but it was unrealistically quick in the reload time.

Wouldn't need dozens. Just say a Colt 1851, an 1853 Enfield, a Short Land Pattern, Whitworth rifle, a cavalry/dragoon flintlock pistol, and a blunderbuss. A caplock and flintlock each for each category, more or less.

Caplocks and especially flintlocks were extremely popular in the height of the Old West because they were sturdy, reliable, and in a time when the nearest shop that would sell ammo could be a day's ride away they were easy to keep ammo for. Rather than dedicated cartridges, you simply needed some raw lead and a mould of the correct bore. Beyond that, just black powder and some flint. Both of which can be crafted in the wild. And in a pinch, you could fire practically anything that would fit down the barrel, though it's not smart to do so. (Gouging out the metal and otherwise fouling the bore)

I'm just copying over a comment I made in RDR2 General Chat that is more appropriate to The RDR2 Wishlist:

It would be a terrible lost opportunity if Rockstar does not eventually release a hybrid online RDR2 DLC that turns the map into a massive, modern, offroading play park. It would be like a whole new game.
This RDR2 Offroad DLC would just be the re-use of the RDR2 map, into a mashup of GTA0 race building (but no stunts crap or stupid sh*t) with a wide complement of GTA0 and new offroad vehicles, no old west NPCs or other anachronistic things. What a blast that would be!

A proper aiming/gun mechanic when in first person, as used in CoD/BF etc

GTAV's FPS aiming always felt slightly off / not quite finished to me.
