The amount of sub-stories and side events that one could miss in this game is mind-blowing. Some of these events can even have different outcomes and dialogues depending on the time of day, what the player is wearing, whether Arthur is sick or not.

A couple of days ago, I was roaming around near Rhodes when I discovered a Lemoyne Raider camp, and as I was planning my attack, I heard one of them telling the others a story about the war, I literally paused what I was doing and just sat there for a few minutes listening to his story, I didn't expect him to have that much to say.

Red Dead Redemption II is one of the best games ever made and every single time I load it up it keeps reminding me why it's an undefeated masterpiece.

Yes, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the most complex and "deep" game out there as of now and I strongly believe that only Grand Theft Auto VI will better it in ways we cannot even imagine today.

Whenever I compare games to Red Dead Redemption 2 I have to wonder what these other developers do or if they are even trying to compete with Rockstar because everything else just feels shallow and empty. I guess they stopped doing that because it doesn't make any sense when you have an almost four year old game outperforming everything else that's releasing in 2022 and beyond.

How much more power has the PS5/XSX again compared to PS4/Xbox One? We surely cannot imagine what Grand Theft Auto VI will bring to the table.

It will revolutionize the gaming industry once again and will only be bettered by whatever Rockstar does next.

I remember first playing RDR2 and seeing a group of geese flying above me in formation - as soon as I saw that I knew it was going to be special, it went on to live up to and surpass all expectations I had. I've stopped playing it unfortunately as it makes the fans on my PS4 Pro rev up so much they completely drown out all the sound from the game. I sincerely hope Rockstar release an enhanced PS5 version so I can play this masterpiece once again.

I hate that i played this game on my crappy pc instead of a ps4 or xbox because of how bad the fps was. None the less the game was still awesome and i might replay this game multiple times just to see how much stuff is packed into this game. I'd love to see what Rockstar has in store for us in GTA VI in terms of detail.

If Rockstar ever remasters RDR2 for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 I hope they build Cochinay, there's no way Dutch and his new gang would been able to create that fortress and dig such a big cave into it in just 4 years, or anyone else, considering the possibility of him just taking over the place.

It's a funny one. Because what I got from RDR is that he just became a new leader for an already established group of outcasted natives. So in RDR2 when going there for the first time, I thought there would be a settlement there already.

But what RDR2 did good though was making links between Dutch and natives in the latter chapters and beginning to show their struggles from government and white man intervention.

In general though, Cochinay in RDR1 is not a huge place. 4 years is plentiful for that to get built. Arguably the main buildings of Thieves Landing in RDR1 are more intricate and would take longer to build. This threw me off more than Cochinay. Cochinay is basically tents and crude structures made of wood. But I did hope there was already a native settlement there with some basic structure before Dutch reached them and built upon it.

Better yet, the Epilogue should have shown signs of these things beginning to be built as they appear in Blackwater. This would have been a happy medium. Given the changes of the map as time goes on, it's a little confusing that they didn't do this. There are so many things in RDR1 that are nowhere to be seen in RDR2.

It isn't easy to dig a cave that big and deep inside a mount bro, it's unrealistic how Cochinay is totally absent from RDR2, its understandable from !899 to 1911 to have something like this built 12 years later, but not from 1907 to 1911.

I just like to imagine the epilogue is set in 1902 instead of 1907

For f*cks sake they still haven't finished building that building by the train tracks and general store in Saint Denis

Of course it is, it's fairly easy to dynamite a cave and doesn't really take long at all.

Am I the only one who roll my eyes when I see someone saying RDR3 should end during the Blackwater Heist? First of all for that to happen the game would literally have to take place in the same map as the previous two games AGAIN, perhaps only going as far east as West Elizabeth and adding new states north and west, not including Ambarino, New Hanover and Lemoyne. Second this means the game would eventually take place in 1899 AGAIN and be about the Van der Linde gang once more, two things which disgusts me, not because I don't like RDR2's story, it's literally my favorite game ever, but enough of old characters already, at least as the main characters of the story as I don't mind they making a appearance sometimes. RDR3 in my opinion should take place in a brand new map we never saw before with bigger states than the ones we see in RDR2 for a more realistic feeling of actually traveling through states instead of all of them feeling like counties because of how small they actually are, it should also take place between the 1860's and 1880's at most with a brand new story and characters.

i could have it either or. i love the van der linde gang story. so i would have no problem having a new game with them. there were plenty of gang members that were hardly used. and we didn't get to know them as well. and there were some that died too soon. im sure there is a lot more they could do with those characters. but i can understand that some people might be bored of it now. i think the best thing rockstar can do that would please both sides. is have a brand new protagonist. with his own story. but throughout the story have our protagonist interact with the gang. we could do some robberies with them. and even visit their camp. but our protag would not stay in the gang. i do like the idea of having a new protagonist that has his own separate story. but i still feel like one more van der linde game wouldn't hurt. it could be a trilogy. rdr would be the destruction of all of the previous members. rdr2 would be the fall of the gang and its lowest point. and rdr3 would be the rise and high point for the gang. plus it would be great to get to see Dutch's gang in the desert. and have the story be fully set in the west. most of rdr2s story is set in the east with lemoyne and roanoake ridge. only chapter 2 feels like a real western.

The thing is having a new protagonist being part of the Van der Linde gang is almost a death sentence for him already, Mac, Davey, the guy Arthur tells Tilly he got killed in camp for being a traitor and probably others too, I want the new protagonist to survive for once and if that means he have to be a undercover Pinkerton agent within a gang, a traitor or even someone who flees them eventually, so be it, he has to survive.

we could still have a protag that is associated with the gang and they can survive. i want the protagonist to survive too. but just think. the gang has been active since 1878. who knows how many people the gang has encountered. there could have been someone that crossed paths with dutch and crew. but he goes his own separate way.

This could work, as long as he stays alive and finds his redemption in some other way other than dying, perhaps by helping the black people against supremacist gangs/cults during the reconstruction period which was pretty violent for them, native americans from the army territory takeover or whatever.

Never not be bitter of there being no period cars or bicycles, especially in St Denis. I can maybe forgive them for not having cars in 1899, but by 1907 there would’ve been cars parked on every street corner in New Orleans. The exclusion of bicycles is even less forgivable; the 1890s was a major boom for the cycling fad. There would’ve been tour groups of hundreds of cyclists riding the streets on sunny days in 1899 New Orleans. Not having them then would be like not having steam trains, that’s how historically inaccurate it is

”but why would Arthur/John ride a bike?” Why not? Could’ve made for an amusing aside to have them comment on ‘these new-fangled contraptions’, and animate them being barely able to ride them. Good comedy moment, and something that you can completely ignore if you don’t want to use them.

theres no general modding chatter thread so im here to share some info

dexyfex, creator of CodeWalker for GTA 5 is developing CodeX, a recreation of CodeWalker with multi game support at its core.

Part of that is Red Dead Redemption 2 support, and recently one of the very-early not-particularly-useful-for-creating-mods (yet) patreon exclusive builds has (basic) world rendering

some more images, not embedded:

I mostly share this for the reason of making people aware of something like this being in the works, terrain shaders, fragments, and y'know, trees and a buncha other stuff aint there yet. its certainly a WHILE out from being super useful and it aint something to be rushed, but its something in the works thats super cool.

I don't know if i can post the discord link, but its the codewalker discord he shares info, and the super-early builds are patreons only but further along it will be public and open source

yes i agree. i know some people would say cars are for gta only. but i would love to drive an 1890s car. it was such a let down in rdr1 to have cars in the game. and not be able to drive them. and on the subject of bikes i wish they had them in the game. it would be cool to see arthur and john ride a bike. maybe there could have been a robbery mission where there were no horses around so you and the gang had to escape on bikes.

For the first time ever I managed to trigger the meteor shower myself today in Roanoke Ridge after 3 years, Rockstar needs to make their rng system more forgiving on their next games.

Am I the only one who REALLY dislikes Abigail as a character. I mean all the way through. There was not a single point in the game I didn't hate her. If anything it got worse at the game progressed.

Abby is the main cause of John’s downfall, and is responsible for the plot of Redemption 1. If she had just shut up and let John find legal work with the skills he had (bounty hunter, travelling rodeo show, and so on) rather than manipulate him into settling down into a life he didn’t understand well in an area where he’s a wanted man, the Federal Government would’ve never been able to touch him. Hell, they could’ve become ranchers in the Canadian prairies and it could’ve been all been avoided.
but no, she wanted to live outside of Blackwater

Finally started my second playthrough (in FPV mode) on the PS5. I missed this game.

I held off because I was hoping for a PS5 patch, but that was just wishful thinking :(

i totally agree. she is so annoying. and she complained about things that were out of johns control. like defending a fellow ranch hand from getting beat up by the Laramie gang. abigail comes rushing over to john to stop him from beating up a guy who was going to beat up another ranch hand. she gets mad when john had to kill people while he and jack were going to strawberry. they were gonna kill john. so it was self defense. yes it's unfortunate that jack had to see it. but it was them or john. all she does is complain about him. even though he is doing good things for people. she should be proud to have a man like that. not treat him like that and leave him. on a side note i see a lot of people say she is one of the prettiest women in the game. and i disagree. she isn't ugly. but there are much better looking women in the game than her.

I am one of those noobs that have never played Red Dead Redemption, once I've reached the epilogues, I've struggled to continue playing as John, Arthur's death was that devastating to me, but there's one point in the game, where I got so much energy and excitement, it felt like an adrenaline rush, it was during Jim Milton Rides, again? specifically when this soundtrack kicked in:

It's so awesome, it impacted even more after I learned that it's a play on the original soundtrack of RDR1, it was done so perfectly that it give me a huge boost to go through the rest of the game, despite me not knowing the background behind it.

Brilliant game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a masterpiece.

Yes. We can argue if a game has better story, graphics or gameplay. But no game has a soundtrack this good, nor might it ever. The sound team on this game did God's work.

So many moments of 'woah' that honestly made my spine tingle.

The end of Chapter 1 with the cinematic shots coming into the greenery

Braithwaite Manor

Chapter 6 mission where you storm Kerosene & Tar with the natives.

Riding back to camp in Chapter 6

Death Scene

Jim Milton Rides Again

Just so many beautifully crafted moments, all so cinematic.

New and and way better, easier method to get Calloway's gun early. You don't have to chase him on horseback with this one. First voiceover as well 😁

RDR2 is blowing up on TikTok recently, at least here in Brazil, and I'm not even talking about RDO, but Story Mode itself.

Has anyone ever tried reverting back to 1.00 in chapter 2?

Does it corrupt the saves?
