I am ashamed to admit it, but that damn trackify makes no sense to me. I know it provides the direction of the vehicle but isn't really accurate on distance. Every time I drive towards the red blip, intentionally only doing quarter turns (one right turn, one left turn, etc), to see where the blip moves to, it inevitably winds up appearing right behind me. And while I want to drive in the direction of the blip sometimes, often times the map doesn't let me go there for significant stretches, so I get frustrated and drive toward another blip. The only time i reliably find a vehicle is when it is right on top of my marker in the center, and it almost seems like a random occurrence. Before posting this, I reviewed a couple of youtube vids and even a reddit chat post and thought I had it figured out, but my incompetence cost me a shot at the golden minigun last night.

I really try not to post limited issue thread here, but I come to the gammers here embarrassed, hat in hand. I know this isn't a complex ap. What am I doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated!!

Think of it like a Radar screen, sadly without a map overlay it's always going to be vague.

Just keep pointing at it, as much as possible, and eventually you'll end up circling it.

Chose a blip and focus on it. Drive in the direction of the blip. Once the blip is directly the left or the right of you turn towards it and it will show its in that direction but very far away. Keep doing this technique and you will see that it will get closer. I hope this makes sense and I hope this helps.

I search for it on seperate axes. I drive one dierction until I "pass" the dot, then I turn towards the direction of the dot...

Use a helicopter while trackify is up. Seriously it makes the job of hunting down your stolen stuff so much easier since you don't have to deal with roads. You just need to avoid other players. :beerhat:

But what the others said is also sound advice.

It's a lot easier in a helicopter. Once you get close enough, the blip moves rapidly to the centre of the "radar", and then you're well within visual range.

p.s. Some noob advice for an experienced poster: put some hint towards the nature of the problem in the fecking thread title!

You MUST focus on only 1 dot at a time. Distance of dots to your sides or behind you are terribly misleading so don't let them throw you off. A dot that looks right beside you may be miles away while the one at 12 o'clock that seems far away is only a couple more blocks from you. Keep the dot you're after at 12 o'clock on the radar map as much as possible! Depending where it is on the map some will be incredibly difficult to chase down if you're not in the air just due to street layouts.

Playing Pac Standard vans setup is good practice with the tracktify app and it's many players' least favorite out of the lot so you'll see invites pop up all the time. If you hop in with some players that do it a lot they even know roughly where the vans are on the map so it'll be a lot less stressful to wind up in the right area even if your directions aren't perfect.

THanks for the tips.

Sorry about the vague title--will be more specific going forward.

"The trackify app uses a signal to ping the direction a van is heading-- but it's not very good on distances." -Lester

You're telling me

Like everyone said, focus on 1 blip at a time and don't mix it up with another blip or you'll be chasing your tail.

Yeah unfortunately for me, I have done the set ups on Pac Std so much I know where the vehicles will be, which has given me a false sense of ability to use trackify. Whether some know it or not, those vans start in the same spot and take the same route, It only seems like the route varies if you take too long getting to them because they are extending the routes from your usual interception point.

Try practicing.

get some friends who will repeat the Pac Std 1st setup. This uses the trackify app.

First important thing to keep in mind is, the app doesnt see buildings or terrain. So grab a helicopter. Once you can reliably orient on a desired target step it up and do it on a motorcycle. Once you can do it youll be golden.

Another option is in story mode you can do the submarine missions which also use trackify.

Good luck.

Use a helicopter, seriously, as others have already pointed out. You're going in a straight line and there's no need for twisty turns and roads which can make a muddle of things.

Everyone already gave the best advice but I will try.

Like everyone already said..Follow one blip and stay focused on it.

Drive in whatever direction it's going, until the distance gets reduced and appears closer to the middle of the radar..

Whatever you were following will eventually be right in your face.

Helicopters make this extremely easy..

Personally, when I use it in a car (I typically use a helicopter, but sometimes it can't be helped (i.e. engine cuts out)), I drive towards one blip, but always go the direction I'm traveling (following the roads), and turn ONLY when the blip is at the horizontal line. Otherwise you're just zig-zagging across the map with absolutely no sense whatsoever of where you might be going. At least this way I can think about what I'm running parallel to in that direction, and how to get their with ease.

Why is there so much nastiness here?

Some people can write well; others can't. Some had a good education; others didn't.

It's nothing to start WWIII over. I can write perfectly, yet I don't feel the need to get like that about it.

I actually thought it was funny.

Maybe before it devolved into talk of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and violence. From that point on it just seems a little spicy to me.

It's like it was a pudding that could've tasted good, then someone sh*t in it.

For what it's worth, you can sort of judge distance on Trackify, just not directly. If you are not headed straight at a marker, but at a small angle to it, that angle will change as you (and it) travel. It will not change quickly if you are far away, but if you're fairly close it will change noticeably more rapidly. I can't judge distances precisely with this, but I can tell the difference between 'keep going in more or less this direction for a while' and 'start looking on the mini-map to figure out where on the nearby roads your target could be'.

Wellyou do know that the 4 vans will go the same 4 routes everytime unless it's laggy or buggedright?

So with extra attention and a bit more practise, you dont really need the trackify to locate the vans.

Also, the one you need always stay the same, so if you are the driver, stop playing around or making trouble for navigators! Go straight to the right van and wait!
