The Dedito Gae
When and how did you find out that gta had ragdoll phisics? What was your reaction? I remember i was dicking around in the street and got run over by a taxi...it surprised me a lot to see Niko's reaction, laughed at loud. First weeks playing IV i spended most of my time pushing people off stairs, train stations or jumping on top of moving cars just to play with the game's physics (the feelios... :*) ) I'd lie if i said this is not one of the reasons IV is my favorite. Payne Killer
I was driving a sanchez and I hit a car, next thing I see is Niko flying through the air and falling to the ground, only to be killed by a taxi. Algonquin Assassin
I'm pretty sure the first time I found out was Niko necking himself on a fence and his body slumping to the ground rather than the stiff, stick like reaction you'd get from a 3D era title. I agree though that Euphoria is one of my favourite things about GTA IV. Thesmophoriazusae and Eugene H. Krabs
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I first noticed it by bumping someone with my car, sending them rolling over the hood. I always try scraping past pedestrians so they hold out their hands to protect against being hit. It's one of those awe factors that always amazes me like "Whoa, did you see how that guy did that? Whoa, that guy went flying!" Edited June 15, 2016 by AuSsIeThUnDeR36 Algonquin Assassin

lolleroz
I remember showing some of my friends the game and I'd just go and drive into some ped while going over 100 kmp/h in a Huntley, and pin him to wall with the front of my car as I kept going forwards, resulting in blood coming out and his hands being thrown left and right on the hood. It was amazing and they just stood there like ': O' sadly I think GTA 5 euphoria is heavily nerfed in comparison Payne Killer and SchizNitz

Osho
What do you mean by 'when' and 'how did you find out' ?? Its obvious. During the pre-release period when the details about the game are released, for instance, source: Rockstar and NaturalMotion announced a partnership on February 27, 2007.and few months later...sourceGrand Theft Auto IV Trailer 2 Launched! It finally confirmed that "Game is using euphoria, a fully procedural animation package created by NaturalMotion"Needless to say, this also means the game will include ragdoll physics, too. My first reaction: Waste of CPU power because I think new physics based technology is one of the reasons for the bad performance in IV at the cost of something that I didn't find 'appealing'. It does have some fun effects and is definitely a step up in comparison to the 3D titles, but not revolutionary as people hailed it to be, and still continue to think so. The game's performance ( above all horribly optimized ) eventually suffered and didn't make use of it beyond just eye candy, instead of implementing it as a major gameplay mechanic during the actual story missions, and other interesting new dynamics, be the confrontations with the enemy to make shootouts more varied and satisfying, etc.. I didn't have much fun with the ragdoll/euphoria based effects more than a few playthroughs. mp412rex
Legomanarthur
I was so happy to find such realistic physics, when I started playing this game I remember going full retard with cars and bikes and jumping out of them in top speed funny stuff. thehambone
GTA IV was the first game I'd ever seen and played with ragdoll physics. I must say it is one of my favorite aspects of the game. Although a bit over the top and unrealistic at times, I feel GTA IV's ragdoll implementation is the best out there, or at least the best that I've seen. When compared to other games from the same period, like Saint's Row, ragdoll bodies in IV seem to have more "weight" to them, which makes the overall experience more fun and realistic to watch. Trying to remember my when I first found out about IV's ragdoll physics... it's tough to remember. I didn't watch any game previews, so I didn't know until I actually played the game. I'd say I probably found out when flying off of a motorcycle for the first time. Either that or when shooting somebody in then leg and noticing how they stumbled and hobbled over rather than doing a pre-animated gesture. PhillBellic
I had a lot of fun with the Euphoria Physics. Easily one of the best 'hidden' features.
Femme Fatale
I crashed a bike onto a car, it reminded me of Minority Report: Everybody Runs, the last game that I played that had ragdoll physics...
RogerWho
When I tried to play Vice City to see what the fuzz was about and realized that half of the game's entertainment potential is missing right there. I was used to ragdolls since early 2000's, what was that... Rainbow Six 3? And every Unreal 2-engine game after that, plus the whole Havoc revolution where every game had to have some physics. It's really hard to go back to games with primitive animations after that. Edited June 23, 2016 by RogerWho
Pedinhuh
When I rammed a pedestrian over and he went rolling around, hohooo boy, that was a fun day Nowadays, I can't go back to games with simplistic animations and no ragdoll physics, it is a step back.
