CEOs: When you see others in Session...

  1. 1. How do you generally deal with other CEOs in Freemode?

    • Peaceful - no need to fight, we're all just trying to make a dollar.

    • Cautious / Defensive - keep those hands where we can see them or there will be consequences.

There's been a lot of talk regarding CEO cargo missions being only available in public sessions since the Finance & Felony update last week. Quite a few people are unhappy with this state of affairs but that discussion is taking place elsewhere on the forums. To do cargo runs in the current climate means potentially running into other players, CEOs and Organizations, and GTAO history dictates that when paths cross, bullets (and heavy ordnance) will soon start to fly.

Putting aside the 'lag' approach that some people are taking advantage of for a moment, this question goes out to the CEOs and Organizations among you: How do you generally deal with other CEOs and Organizations when in the same lobby?

Do you tool up and go in prepared in case of trouble, make preemptive strikes to assert your dominance, or try a more diplomatic approach?

FAFF_message.jpg

NOTE / DISCLAIMER: There is no intention of trying to determine what the 'right' or 'wrong' approach is to CEO Cargo runs in this poll - I'm just curious to see what people's instincts are when coexisting with other Organizations in the same Freemode sessions.

Please try to keep any discussion regarding this subject civil - a healthy debate is encouraged but if things start to get too personal either agree to disagree or take it to PM. Several F&F-related threads have already been locked, let's not add another to that list. Thanks :)

Anything else? No?

Okay, over to you guys...

I don't really message anyone, though I will try to avoid fighting if I can.

Assuming everyone has their own warehouses, then it's in everyone's best interests to get along. More money to be made that way.

I just mind my own business, and leave people to do theirs. I do get cautious if people are around though, and I'm definitely a little on edge when doing stuff in a busy session.

The one exception has to be when there's a jet though. Unless some official peace has been negotiated, then having some random in something as powerful as that just isn't going to work.

If you messaged me a CEO peace/cooperation message though, I'd gladly say yes.

There's only a measly $2K behind ruining someone else's crates, and if you do that, you can be sure they'll be out to ruin yours. Doing the maths, well it's just better to try work things out than spend the session fighting I guess.

I don't go after other players without previously being attacked and even then not always cause I'm likely busy. I definitely wouldn't attack their CEO work either.

I used to be defensive, but now I sold all of my cargo and am now returning to the traditional contact missions/ fleeca/ headhunter ways of making money. The time and effort is wasted on searching for a "peaceful" lobby. Even in free aim, I get full lobbies all of the sudden. They found out the free aim secret and now free aim is being CONTAMINATED to the point to where its better just to go back to contact missions for $$$. Even streaming HD videos won't put me into a solo public lobby. I don't feel like wasting 10-20 minute searching for a "somewhat perfect" lobby. I know people are using other means of intentionally lagging out, but I don't think its worth the risk and effort to do all of that just for this game.

It's why I prefer spawning on my yacht instead of the office. It gives me time to see what the lobby is like, especially with me in a helicopter. I play without the sound or mic and texting takes too long, so I just observe and use the same defensive mentality towards other players that I get within range with as I've used since the beginning.

Yesterday I had mostly-peaceful lobbies. This morning there were solo-CEOs that were just blowing everyone's crates up. Then I found a lobby that never had more than 5 players in it. After some low-rank randoms left, it was just my associate and I, two solo-CEOs, and an occasional random and after some quick texting, it was all peaceful, even though there were some warehouses in common.

After dealing with my own cargo getting blown up, I don't go after players moving crates. It's expensive for them, the vehicles are often slow and unarmored (sometimes even timed), and it's a cheap d*ck -move to target the most-vulnerable type of player. Even a McNoob in an armored Kuruma has a better chance of putting up a fight than a high-rank in a BF Surfer with a "kill me now" icon on everyone's map.

If some organization blows up mine then has the gall to try and move theirs then I'll do everything in my power to vaporize their investment, but that scenario hasn't come up yet.

If I get in a lobby with some solo CEO's I sometimes send out a text message offering help as backup in sales. Only if there's one or two solo guys. In one lobby it was just me and one other guy, I offered to help. We helped each other with sales for a while and other people joined and it stayed peaceful.

Most organizations are off doing their own thing. They don't bother us and we don't bother them. I treat everyone as a possible threat but I don't kill people unless they're rolling up on me fast or acting suspicious. It's usually unaffiliated people who f*ck with your cargo, anyway.

Too focused on the money and crates, keeping to myself.

Why waste time, money, resources trying to screw over others? Hell, some of these kids could have invested real life money towards shark cards and these crates, I would never want to be responsible for them losing it completely and hurting them financially.

If I feel like killing other players/causing havoc, I'll play LTS where I'll get better money for doing so and not be a piece of sh*t.

I don't shoot on sight anymore because I've been seeing a lot less people attempting to kill when driving past, I stay ready to fire if I see them acting weird.

Although I will f*ck with others sometimes because some external (paranormal? extra-terrestrial?) force forces me to...

One thing I will say though, is that if I see someone camping outside my warehouse, then they've got to go.

I'm extremely cautious...to the point of being paranoid. And if my cargo gets destroyed, I'll typically find another session. I'm not going to lie though. I love the adrenaline from being chased by another player. Having something to lose makes it much more thrilling, and successfully surviving all the more sweeter.

I don't attack Crate runs but I might try and interfere with another CEO's VIP work if I'm in the mood for a lil PvP

Yeah, I hate to admit it, but it's true. I look forward to interfering with CEO work and being the thorn in someone's side.

That's when Lester's off-radar works best:

Drive the crate vehicle close, go off-radar, kill the schmuck because they're watching the crate icon on the radar, get back in vehicle, drive to warehouse, profit while laughing.

I can only think of the expression "what goes around, comes around".

If you're in a lobby with other players and decide to attack them, you're going to have a tough time when collecting or delivering your own shipments. But then again, I hope GTA online doesn't become a money grinding bore without any spice, where everyone is passive.

Essentially, you've got to make an analysis of each lobby and decide on the right time to buy or sell based on how many associates you have, how many jets are flying around etc... It's amazing how many people don't understand that every lobby is different and it's not always conducive to making money.

Personally I've always had the motto "I won't fire first, but I will fire last". And In FA lobbies I notice I generally don't have to fire (even before the update).

As to messages, at first I was sending out olive branches, but for most part I'm finding it's not need as most CEO just want to make money. However, for some strange reason I will get attacked by random low level players for no reason (lvl 5-50). Which doesn't even seem smart as I'm a level 550 and usually playing with at least one other player.

One thing I have noticed though, is random players playing in a way that looks like they mainly play in AA. I.e. constant combat rolling, they manner which they use cover, etc. So I'm wondering if we are in fact seeing an influx of players in that aim-type.

I almost never attack anyone, especially if the session is small. However, anyone who destroys my cargo gets spawn killed by the jet. And unsurprisingly it works 90 percent of the time.

Usually when I am VIP/CEO or Bodyguard/Associate, I announce on text chat that whatever team color I am is friendly until given a reason. 9/10 times that ends up with most other groups agreeing.

I imagine it's not as easy in Xbox One/PS4 because of the lack of text chat.

I check to see who the CEOs are and then send each of them a text saying "I won't be interfering with any of your jobs."

I've only had positive responses. One time I ended up in a lobby with about ten other players all from the same crew ( MOBB was their tag, I think they were from New Zealand) I thought I'd get kicked, but after sending the messages, I got a message from one of them saying "no MOBB will attack you".

It turned out to be the easiest CEO session I've had. A few hostiles a turned up, but as soon as they started anything, they got gang attacked 5-1. At one point, while doing a delivery, I got killed by a random, but several MOBB rocked up in a kuruma and an insurgent and fought him off before he could destroy the delivery van with my crates. The guy in the kuruma then escorted me back to my warehouse and messaged me "felt I had to intervene".

It was honestly the most positive GTA experience I have had since heists first came out.

I voted other.

We ask if we know [insert name] and if none of us know you you're getting the boot. And if vote kick is on cool down we grief you out the lobby. It's a bit extreme but during my time on this game (as well as games like Day Z) don't trust anyone, especially some random.

I always leave CEOs to do crate work, but I will go after VIP work if I'm in between cool downs. VIP work makes me money so it's fair game.

Most lobbies I get into (if I'm not kick voted) have the the above rules amongst CEOs, Freeroam events and VIP work are fair game while crate work is off limits. Works well

Generally, no. For buy missions it's usually more advisable to just get the cargo to the warehouse as quickly as possible. Most pickup locations are around the city and all warehouses are, so it doesn't make sense to waste time flying up and down when straight/level is faster.

For some Sale missions you have to stay below radar and 2/3 of all sale missions involve the Brickades or Tug

I open up NetLimiter 4, set GTA to 1kb/s, lag out of the lobby, and carry on with my day in peace.

I've had a few peaceful lobbies, arranged via text chat. But some twat always shows up and grabs a Hydra eventually. Then war starts and money gets wasted. It's better to just be antisocial, and get rid of everybody.
